GT4 WRS Week 59 : "United States Grand Prix"

As promised, the F1 car comes out of the pits this week, in a slightly underpowered version (-10%) to make it driveable for all drivers. To perform well this week you have to know the track perfectly, since it's pretty easy to hit a wall in the not-so-straight straights, and to avoid shortcutting too much the 90° corners as the rumble strips can unbalance the car and send it into the wall.
Oh, and don't tell me that the real US GP will take place at Indianapolis, I know that, but I find the streets of New York a much better option.

Week 59 : Polyphony Digital Formula Gran Turismo '04 @ New York reverse

Game mode :
Arcade Mode / Time Trial / City Courses / New York reverse

Car specifications :
Polyphony Digital Formula Gran Turismo '04 :
(car is unlocked by winning the Nürburgring 24 hours enduro)

• -10% power (802 hp) ;
• -10% weight (495 kg) ;
• any driving aids ;
• any transmission mode ;
• any tyres.

Race rules :
Standard clean OLR rules :

• 2 wheels on track at all time ;
• rumble strips are part of the track ;
• no contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible ;
• if you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty ;
• no hybrids ;
• no cheating of any kind ;
• nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules ;
• save your replay ('save ghost' icon).

Thread rules :
The following info cannot be discussed in the thread (they can however be discussed on chats or by other means) :

• lap time ;
• any information which can be used to infer lap time.

Submission :
All submissions must be sent to me by PM (flat-out).

• you can submit only once per race ;
• please include in your submission PM your division, name and time(s) ;
• deadline is tuesday 6th june 9pm GMT (L.A. 1pm, New-York 4pm, London 10pm, Paris 11pm, Tokyo wed. 6am, Sydney wed. 8am).

Time verification :
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted.

• fastest times each week will be required to submit with verification ;
• any submitted time is subject to a time verification request ;
• when a time verification has been required, the concerned racer must provide a replay before next race deadline ;
• failure to do so will result in the submitted time to be removed for the WRS results and/or GTPlanet Times Database ;
• video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified.

If you move your current file to your computer, then put the new one on. It'll work. You can only have 1 game save on the memory card at once or it will **** up. After the week, just delete the new data if you wish, and copy your old one back on.

It's what I did the week we needed the 22b and Niel sent me his file 👍

You'll have to copy your game save onto your PC, then delete it from your mem card, then copy mine over. It's kind of a hassle I guess but it's soooo worth it, the F1 is a blast to drive...the engine won't blow up like the P.O.S car Williams gave Webber last night either

Awesome picture, great race concept.

Hopefully I can get a lap in but there's no garuntee to that as I just bought Half Life 2 and "From Russia With Love" so much of my gaming is already spoken for.
None the less, GT always finds a way into my schedule so I will just have to wait and see.

not using TCS, gearing at 400, seventh gear is useless...

stay off the curbing, less you want to play dodgem cars, and massively increase your braking distances

Not a big fan of the track - - I would've rather raced at Infineon for a US-based circuit, but I'm not the person that makes those decisions, so I'll just shut up and run the combo.

Had TCS off on the initial runs, but got irritated and switched back. Gearing @ 340km/h - - was using 400km/h earlier, but found 340km/h to give a better result out of the final hairpin (in 3rd).

This is truly, fantastic. While I was at my lakehouse over the weekend I was driving around at Monaco with the Formula car, although in GT mode. And have to say, perfected the settings for street driving, eg. high curbs, tight corners, etc. Was perfect for playing during commercial breaks for the Monaco Grand Prix that was on at the same time.

Although, for this week, I'm a little dissapointed we couldn't have had it at Cote D'Azur simply because Monaco was Sunday, I can say that I'm enthuastic for this car on another great track regardless.

This combo is a little hairy....350 kmh down the back straight then instant hairpin... plus everything else

Well I saw some 20.8, 20.9's in the t1 and some low 49's on the t2.

The section from t1 to t2 is giving me a headache, I hit one rumble strip and it's over

I would like to get someone to check it though, I'm 95% certain it's clean but the last 90 degree right before T2 looks a bit suspect. Please e-mail if anyones got time to do this and I'll send a PAL replay to be checked. Not sure if I'll get time to improve on this as I think I've reached my limit already!
