1'04.840
2'09.850
3'45.121
4'37.802

I think i got you CFM and maybe you too Vexd!!, its gonna be a close one!

Leaderboard Updated!

Update!!

Even though I was sloppy in the first section:

T2 1:06.687
T4 2:13.898
T7 3:53.128
T9 4:48.674

Cut 4.3 secs off my time. I know I can be faster.

vexd
Just to upset you guys even further, i ran a quicker lap.
Unfortunately, i didnt write the T's down to post here, and i aint near a ps2 now, so you'll have to wait till next week to know what youre all chasing (well, those of you in div 2) but i think it went something like this:
T2: 1'04.8xx
T4: 2'09.9xx
T7: 3'45.7xx
T9: 4.37.8xx

The jump after the very first twisty section should be taken flat in 6th, with the car on the far left of the tarmac, held VERY straight as you leap, to ensure you dont fall off when you land. Following landing, you should steer right immediately, into the corner, even if you dont think so, otherwise you will understeer off into the wall on the left hand side. this should give you a flat out speed of 190mph as you approach the blind crested left just before the right which leads into T2.

amazing times, maybe you should be in div 1 so I can be at the top of div 2 :)

I can't believe you can take the corner flat out, I'm gonna have to try that

Update, another .5 at the line I think this may be enough for one day, we will see.

1'04.673
2'09.881
3'45.292
4'37.535

Im still loosing time all over the place, No reason why i cant knock off another second, but its hard to drive soo hard for so long and not stuff up.

Woohoo, I met my goal and took off 2 seconds.

T2 1'05.247
T4 2'11.315
T7 3'49.266
T9 4'43.704

:)

Still not as high on the leaderboard as I'd like to be though haha

I guess it's time for me to learn manual then

Finally, I am throwing my hat into the 'ring'. Been really busy the last week or two but managed to have a sit down in front of the TV. The problem with a long track like this is that you lose time everywhere, and lots of time. Big chunks of time. The results should be very interesting. Perhaps an entire minute or more between first and last place.

T2 1'05.495
T4 2'14.154
T7 3'53.952
T9 4'47.380

Using the DS2, Luxy. Although I think I might get myself a DFP. If I can find a place in Tokyo that sells one.

Made some big improvements last night, but need to work harder on the 2nd half of the circuit... basically, everything up to the Karussel is fine, but those couple of sectors immediately after the Karussel are killing me...

T2 - 1'05.444 (seen a 1'05.2xx)
T4 - 2'12.468
T7 - 3'51.666
T9 - 4'47.530

TM

edit: I can see from the splits of everyone else that I'm losing loads of time between T7 and T9!! :indiff: Losing over 2 secs to speedy_samurai in that section alone :guilty:

@ VEXD - wow! Those times are staggering... :nervous:

i'm really unhappy with my time but its unlikely i'll be given the oppurtunity to improve on it, a family matter has cropped up unexpectedly, i know i can improve on my time by a second (oh yeah, hotboi, is a T2 of 1'03.95x even humanly possible to accomplish, best i managed was a 1'04.17x, nice driving) but i'll have to let this week pass.

time submitted.

good luck everyone.

Finally a somewhat together lap with a couple of stupid mistakes... Still it was 1.3 sec. faster than my previous best.....

[edit]

The rest of the Tea Times :

T2 @ 1'05.513
T4 @ 2'12.127
T7 @ 3'50.260
[/edit]

T9 @ 4'43.791

CalibreDan
Found some of my slow points...I nailed T1 and then slowed down a bit :(

D2/DFP

1'05.005
2'10.629
3'47.307
4'42.029

Hey CalibreDan....

quick question...Does the "D2/DFP" above stand for Division 2 by chance?
I ask because on the leaderboard here your name appears under Divsion 3...Thanks for the clarification... :

CalibreDan is in Div.2. Dion must've made a typo in the leaderboard...:sly:

To my fellow WRS Drivers...

Just a simple question here is all....

How many here are able to take the somewhat sweeping left-hander after T3 at full throttle by chance? (Sorry, can't think of the official name of this particular turn and I can't find the map of the ring I *thought* I bookmarked)

I'm having to ease off the gas just a bit but feel like it can be done...

Thanks-

Hey Sim,

Think the corner you are talking about is called 'Metzgesfeld'

Think i am taking it high 5th or eased off 6th, can't be sure coz haven't ran for nearly 40 hrs!
Dis-located my left thumb in a freaky accident Friday morning, managed to pop it back in, now it's bloody sore and very stiff. So am having trouble holding the wheel, def wouldn't be able to use ds2 either! Mite have a go later-on, depends on whether the painkillers work well enough! lol

Neil

ps, good map post 227 this thread!

Questions for your question, SRD:

Is it important to get through that turn wide open, or is it more important to be accelerating off to get down to the left hander sooner? Do you lose time if you can't hold the inside (the quicker) line around that bend? If the tires are on fire and screaming, are you going fast?

Have you made a definite decision about what gearing to use?

Hey Neil-

Thanks for the comments! You're right..that corner is indeed called Metzgesfeld...
(Found another map here since the map in post #227 is now not showing up)

Sorry to hear about your thumb! That's got to hurt like a mo-fo eah!
And to think you're still playing GT4 w/it! Man, that's some dedication! :D

What I've been doing in the past is just letting off the gas prior to the start of the bend (I'll be in 6th up to this point) and then as I hit the apex of the turn, getting back on the throttle so I've got a good exit speed. When doing this, I'm holding the inside left line pretty tight, though all 4 tires are still on the track and there's hardly any tire squeal.

The reason why I posted the question initially was the other night I was pretty damn confident that I had done it once before a few days ago but upon attempting to do it again but I've not had any success, so I've been thinking to myself that maybe I wasn't in 6th....

Thanks,

SimRaceDriver:

Here is my best splits today

T2: 1'04.876 (WOW!!! :) I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
T4: 2'10.442 (@%#&¤§!!!!!!!!!!!! :yuck: :banghead: )
T7: 3'48.777 (Made a terrible Karusell, messed up completely here too  )
T9: 4'44.666

As you see, my first split is really good (AND I'm using Dual Schock 2, will get Driving Force Pro in two weeks :) ) but I must improve the rest of the track, just about 18 km of "Die Grüne Hölle". Should not be so difficult...

I know when I go full throttle on that corner, I end up dropping a rear tyre and it's over for me. I have to ease up. I'm usually red lining 5th gear before letting up only for a second.

Sorry to hear about your thumb. I know how much of a drag it is. I've bruised my wrist before and it hurt like hell to turn the wheel. Especially at a competative state.

Just gave it a go,
and gave up after T1.

Too painful with the feedback on, don't think i will be able to adapt to driving without it!

It IS Saturday night..............so mite try some liquid anesthetic!

Might be funny, in a rather dark way, to see what happens. Mite be able count up how many barriers there are round the track

TRUE!

Bleu, I have you beat all the way through to T7 ... clearly I've got a slow ending ... it always kills me, that. Okay, the competition is ON!

Just as a curiosity…….

Would anyone think it might be fun to run this same event but allow individual choice of one of, say, five different touring/race cars, like the BMW, the M-B, the Audi, the Opel Astra, and the little red Alfa with all the rpm?

These cars can be configured to have almost exactly the same weight to power ratio, as the examples below, in arcade:

BMW, +20 / -10, 533hp / 1008 kg, wt to pwr ratio 1.89
M-B, +20 / 0, 531 / 1000, ratio 1.88
Audi, +20 / -3, 556 / 1047, ratio 1.88
Opel, +20 / +3, 544 / 1030, ratio 1.89
Alfa, +20 / -8, 495 / 929, ratio 1.88

And what about maybe running ten laps, or more, instead of just one ?

Just a thought…………

hey SRD, yes that turn is flat-out
u have to thread the needle and get the exact line, theres 3 corners you can take flat out, and thats 1 of them
