Oh no Bleu, I'm 100% right there with you ... take that last part of the S-curves wrong before the start line and I've lost count of the number of times I've spun on the grass or just thought "screw it" and drove into the cones.

Or the very first corner after the start line ... hitting the rumble strip on exit too much and spinning out.

Or the next corner, hitting it too wide ...

Today I think I've restarted 30 times? I've not seen anything past the third way point and I'm coming off on corners I just shouldnt be ... pushing myself way too hard. I really don't think I can get anything more out of this one until my skill level improves ... I just can't ride the edge like the fast guys can. :banghead:

out of every racer, i think ive wrecked the most Audi TT's this week lol
pushin past the limit of the car

after switching to 330km/h ive seen some fast sectors~!

t6 3'01.9xx

now i just have to lap it perfectly to beat rudi

Hmm triple digit restarts the first day for me, be hard call there Hot.... I can hit a wall as good as Jimmy Johnson can. :indiff:

(And no I am not a JJ fan, I follow Petty Enterprises in NASCAR)

But you have the time to back it up. I've done my share of damage with prolly more than 50 cars.

What a race to miss here! Nice combo. I can think of few race cars that pair as nice as the DTM TT to the Nordschleife. Unfortunately I am 3000 miles away from my PS2 right now (and maybe for the near future) on work related things which kinda makes it hard for me to race....

I'll be back to the WRS once things calm down work-wise for me. If there is ever a Ruf race or another at the 'Ring I'll try hard to find time to race. If that means buying a new PS2 and copy of GT4 to play in my hotel room than so be it!

Well, that was disappointing, but sure gave me a strong reminder to take corners in sets. Was beating my ghost by 1.3xx coming into T6, then lost bit by bit along the way, came through T9 @ 4'39.006 and just went as slow as I possibly could out of fear through the second Karussel, but beat my ghost to the T11 split somehow, then hosed it at the line. 100% clean, though. :sigh:

Frustration++

Phewwwwwieeeeeeeee ... I have put WAY too much time into this damned combo .. I swear, if I lived with my b/f there is no way in HELL I could spend this much time racing.

I can feel a bloody improved time coming on - every lap I'm faster than my ghost - but can I stop crashing? Can I hell.

Highlights are a 1'05.147 T2 (HELL YEAH) and a T9 2 seconds faster than my current best ... but I spun out before T10 *CRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS* :(

I can't stop restarting, though ... it's like a damned drug.

Whee. After screwing up SO many times, a few of my friends showed up as I was finishing a run. They asked how I was doing this week and began to explain my troubles. A few minutes later after my buddy had a go, I asked that he give me the DS2 and I'd have one last go, jokingly saying 'this'll be the one'. Well, here we go..

T2: 1'05.040
A little slower than my ghost, but not my problem area, so I don't mind being out .2 or so. I made a mess of Metzgesfeld, so I pulled a little through this section landing me at...

T4: 2'10.415
Had been making it this far all night, but losing time directly after this, then crashing at Angst for some reason. Came *very close to this being my only 'off' for the run, but held it on the road this time and felt pretty smooth the rest of the way out:

T7: 3'46.528
T9: 4'38.639

And that's probably the last time I'll touch this combo for a while, but man was that fun. Told you I wasn't going to catch you, vexd. :|

You know what the sad thing is? I've actually messed up before crossing the start line. :banghead: I'm pitiful. If this keeps up, the officials will have to close the course due to excessive debris. Mainly me.

I've done that a good amount of times too

Been racing on the 320 gearing ... but now I see some guys are switching to 330 ... stuff that I'm finished for this week, did a lap as good as I think I can, and beat my previous lap by 6.6 sec. !

T1 : 1:05.532
T4 : 2:11.731
T7 : 3:49.761
T9 : 4:44.058

I can now finally say that before this combo I did not know the Nurb from a bar of soap ... but now I know the whole thing, even the last section ! Just get so frustrated to stuff it up in the last sector and have to begin all over again ! :banghead:

Yeah not only is it difficult to get a good time it's to have a clean lap as well. I was quite mad when I was 4.3 seconds ahead of my ghost and then ran into the wall on the last couple turns before the straight. :irked:

Final improvements made yesterday :)

T2 - 1'04.977
T4 - 2'10.874
T7 - 3'47.619
T9 - 4'41.369

Will have to submit that I reckon...

After this lap, I tried S-16, and golded it first time! :dopey: (An improvement of some 22 seconds on my last attempt!) Cheers WRS

Finished 1 second faster overall but the first 4 sectors were .4 secs slower than I'm capable of. Picked up a lot of ground from T6 on but almost lost traction coming out of the 1st Karussel. I guess I can shave off another second if I stay clean and have more time. :(

T2: 1'05.606
T4: 2'11.546
T7: 3'48.190
T9: 4.41.263

Was flying on the wheel last night! 3 secs up at last sector thinking yeah this is it I'm going to hit my target them !!!bam!!! right off on and into the wall on the second to last turn! I was gutted and gave up for the night :(
Must have had about 500 restarts in all, and completed about 10 laps

Good to see I'm not alone in this though :)

Got a clean lap. After a long time of trying.

T2 1'05.629
T4 2'12.425
T7 3'50.403
T9 4'46.556

Good for another 2 or more seconds if I stay clean. :scared:

If I crash or go on the grass I always immediately re-start, not point in driving further on that lap in any case ... so I also had like 5000 re-starts, and only about 5 full laps ! Just can't get my T9 better than 4:44.058, so I see I'm mid-field in Division 2 this week ... :indiff:

Sounds like me!!! But yeah, I've crashed(or slowed down a lot to stay on) in the beginning probably a million times, and I'll restart, and then repeat... Soooo many times. I just finished my SECOND freaking clean lap, after probably 6-8 hours of messing around with this combo... YIKES!

Kolyana, Portland? w00t!

So yeah, shaved 4 seconds off my final time, 5 seconds off T9 I think, but more to go everywhere, especially after T4...

1'05.218
2'12.646
3'52.352
4'47.269

Depends where you crash... i found that staying out provided invaluable practice for the second half of the lap... Although nurfing it on the last corner definitely requires a re-start... I was some 1.7 secs up on my best and I nurfed it into the last chicane... I'm sure that even people in Australia (with good hearing) could have detected a slight 🤬 coming all the way from London after I did that... still, took a 5 minute breather, and came back at it, knowing what not to do the next time... 👍

A little quicker, so much left here, just cant stay on the track long enough to complete a lap .
T2 - 1.06.681
T4 - 2.14.854
T7 - 3.53.800
T9 - 4.48.639
Maybe have one more good crack at this before i submitt my final time

Steve

Ok, i got the splits for you all that i didnt have on me last time i was near a pc:

T2: 1'04.844
T4: 2'09.792
T7: 3'45.965
T9: 4'37.675

Im not too happy with all of those, but i am fairly quick with it, and i know even if i get the Uber lap from VEXD, im only gonna shave another 7 tenths or so off. Maybe i'll beat chips before tomorrow, maybe i wont have time. We'll see. :grumpy:

Im going to attempt a brief drive thru for you all.

Starting as you cross the line:

In 4th just as you hit the crest, bring it down to 2nd but move towards the inside kerb thru 3rd and then 2nd gear, so u are near the very inside as you hit the gas to drive right out of the corner, ideally, hitting 3rd very early and not touching the outside kerb at all.
thru 4th, then 5th before the sweeping right, and hold it flat, just get your line right, then flat down to the twisty bit (Hatzenbach?) and you should be approaching the first left/right in 6th, heres the tricky bit, hit 5th as you turn left, then quickly hit 4th, turn right, and 3rd, and gas! the car will lurch, but if you time it right, it will stick and send you flying round the bend, so quickly that you can get 4th, and then take the next left, and right, before hitting 3rd VERY briefly again for grip, as you go left towards the last right/left of this section, grab lots of kerb here on the right turn, and trust the car, choosing 4th half way thru the right, and it will stick thru the left, and down the hill.

As you approach the jump, you should have selected 6th just before the incline, and be on the farthest left of the track. Hit the jump flat out, holding your dfp/pad very still, as soon as you have traction on all four wheels again, turn into the right, and hold it round both bends, and then all the way down the straight downhill bit. If you have this correct, then you will be doing 187or188mph thru the downhill, and then hit 190 ( i saw 191mph once!) as you level off. Dont back off for the left, just anticipate the car hopping to the right ever so slightly.
Flat all the way to the sweeping right hander before T2, it is important to be very brave with the brakes here, and brake right into the bend, about 45% of the way round the corner you should have come down to 3rd, hit the gas and trust the car, snatch 4th if you start to understeer, and watch it pull back in! past T2, for a 1'04 KOLY!
Flat now, all the way thru the downhill curves, and then as you approach the left at the crest, change to 5th to hit the kerbing on the left, repeat in the opposite direction thru the right in 4th, then take 3rd, and finally second gear as you control the slide into the VERY tight left. Here, you should floor the car, and yank the wheel/pad over to the right, selecting 3rd to get drive out of the corner, and using the kerb on the left if need be.
Flat now till you reach the sweeping left, just into 6th gear, i back off for a split second, but hotboi takes it flat ( and fryz jnr ) round the corner, and drive into the next left coming down to 3rd for grip, and then immediately 4th as you head up and over the right, into 5th for a second, then turn in and change to 4th, then 3rd as you hammer round the right hand bend. As soon as you have 3rd, you can accelerate all the way out of the turn. Flat into 4th, then 5th, keep to the very inside, maybe even run the kerb of the left hander into the twisty's, and then almost ride the kerb of the right turn also, like a straight line almost thru there, the car will jump, and if your unlucky, throw you off, but if you make it thru, then aim for the inside of the following triple right hander from the outside of the course (there are some dark grey cobbles on the left, if you run them and turn in, you'll be perfect) as you make your way round, keep dabbing the brake to stabilize the car. you should come out around 145mph ish i think in 5th, as you head down to the nasty twisty.
Hit 4th to get grip into the right, then wait, then slam 3rd then 2nd and brake hard i said hard! the car will almost stop, and the corner will disappear from view, but turn left anyway, and floor it, the gear will drag you straight round, careful not to hit any kerbs! and 3rd as soon as possible, then accelerate into 4th and 5th, crossing T4 for a 2'09! at least.
Down to 3rd into the left at the bottom of the hill, and 4th immediately as you turn, giving you grip, then where the chalk is written on the circuit, back to third and turn in earlier than physics state you should, hard up the right and over the crest, only selecting 4th when the time is right. Flat to the bottom, in 6th by the time you get there, and brake in a straight line into 3rd gear for the right. This corner catches me, so be careful to follow your own pattern if it worx for you, but i brake straight down to third, then floor it and turn. Flat out for ages now.
As you approach the tricky left hand turn (is it flat, is it not?) that is the second part of a double left hander, you should be over 170mph. about 176ish. Hotboi takes it flat, and your line must be perfect, but if you arent made of kryptonite, then the best thing to do is attack it from the far right, near the light grey kerb, dabbing the brake into the left hand red and white kerbing while still flat out on the throttle. Here's where a dfp is advantageous. I managed to keep her at 169mph thru the turn in 6th.
Still flat thru the following right bumpy turn, and then down to 2nd at the hairpin for grip and speed.
Round the right, and up the hill to the Karussel, into 5th before you get there, then down to 2nd and drop straight into its groove, bounce the throttle to feel the middle of the corner, and the cars limits, then floor it and change to third half way round the bend.
The car will be sluggish because of the short shift, but will stick like glue to the turn, and will be redlining as you leave the Karussel. Into 4th, 5th and the slight left, you should drift past the kerbing on the left, then run out wide to the right, before changing to 4th early for the left into the twisty bit that was used by the RX7 in the license test.
4th and hard on the gas thru the first left, then right, then hard on the brakes down to 3rd for the tight right, floor it to have control, then back up to 4th (past T7) and 5th round the sweeping right, then back down to 4th for the left and right corners, using the kerb to keep as straight a line as possible thru them.
down the small hill in 5th hopefully, back to 4th for the right on its crest, then up to 5th for a second, then 4th and brakes for the staggered lefts, then maybe 3rd for a second to gain grip for the right which passes a wide grass area on its left, hitting 4th as you pass the grass, then 3rd for the right, then 4th again to stay out of the sand pit, up the incline, using the 3rd then 4th gear grip to get you over the left and right up over the crest.
You should now be accelerating into 5th gear and heading for the sand pit at the bottom of the hill.
I hit the brakes and take 4th gear just before i become airborne, then take 5th regardless of revs as i hit the floor again, and turn right past the sand. If you time it right, the car just stix.
Flat over the hill, into 6th just before the course gives you more air coming back down the hill, this keeps the car stable, then ride thru the twisty very fast section, up towards the final complex bit.
Hit 5th to take the first right up hill, then 4th gear and maybe 3rd to stabilize the beast as you take the left hander, trying not to run the high kerb on the right if you can.
Back up to 5th just before the mini karussel, which i drop to 3rd for, though i could probably nail it in 4th, and round the corner taking 4th as i exit and have all four back on the floor, up to 5th before the first right, which you cut straight thru from left to right, maybe take 4th thru it to make sure, after all, youve come a long way by now! then in 5th gear, dab the brake to ensure the car will stick round that blummin strange up and downhill right (dottinger hohe) but only dab once! it will stick, trust it, then flat down the straight.
Right, 3 more corners you tell yourself...... concentrate on the horizon, and keeping your car dead straight, any wobbles, cost you tenths, so stay on a line, then as you approach the bridge and kink left, get ready.
Stay flat right until you are level with the left that will give you sight of the hard right coming up. If that makes sense.
You should be able to brake in a straight line down to 3rd for the right hander from there. Take the right in 3rd, the left in 4th, then back to 3rd for the final right turn, turning in early, and powering out early, tenths or even a second can be lost here!!!
And cross the line in...........?
Hehehe i hope this makes some sense to someone.
I understand it. good luck with the track everyone.

VEXD off to get some new fingers. :grumpy: 👍

I think I'll stay in the pits and wave when you all pass.
On my 20 runs (only) :
- 10 didn't reach T2,
- 9 didn't reach T9,
- 1 is clean and saved.

The only problem is that B-spec Bob is still 16 seconds faster than this run :grumpy: and I couldn't race this week-end because I was stuck in the 1,000 miles series (damn long thing)

flat-out

submit your bspec replay. haha. who's to know? teehee

23 Hours and 45 minutes until the deadline.

Please include your division when submitting your time.

Thank You!

Well i didnt have enough track time for this one.... 30 mins is all i had and i took my best time from that just to be apart of this weeks racing...

Vexd your on fire mate... and 30mins was no where near enough time to catch you Rob...

Good luck all.

👍

Thanks Vexd for the write up ... I've printed it off and hope to garner something useful from it for the last half of this infernal track.

I ran some more this morning. I'm slacking in the beginning. Just look at these times.

_____old_____________new
T2 1:06.687 ------ 1:06.593
T4 2:13.898 ------ 2:14.473 :yuck:
T7 3:53.128 ------ 3:53.721 :ill:
T9 4:48.674 ------ 4:47.826 <--- I'm making up a lot of time here all the way to the finish line. Another 2 secs faster overall.

If I can get the first section good, I can probably get a T9 of 4:45.xxx

I hate to think how many starts, how many laps, how many hours I spent this weekend in search of the elusive clean lap, then a (???) competitive one. And I really hate to think that for every second I managed to improve this weekend, so did everybody else, making all my work for nought! And having looked at the most recent leaderboard, I'm bummed to see I only moved up a couple of spots.

T2: 1'06.448
T4: 2'14.913
T7: 3'56.744
T9: 4'54.124

I'm going to give it a (very) brief run tonight to see if I can improve it, but I've spent way too much time on this one. I have corners and lines running through my head every time I'm not explicitly thinking about something else - need to clear my head for a bit.

Second verse . . . same as the first! Very similiar experience and results here as well. Although I would love to see some of my T2 times at 1'03.anything (unbelieveable time by the way!! :dopey: ) I'm still happy with the improvement I made from the first few attempts. Overall I've found 12 seconds off the overall time I first started with and managed one T2 time of 1'06.598, but alas, bolstered by my achievment, became to aggressive on a corner exit shortly thereafter and hung two too many wheels off :grumpy: :grumpy:

Gonna try a few more times this evening. I know I can knock off about 4 seconds overall on the back end of the track if I can just get a clean run :sly:

Good luck to all on your remaing attempts!

CFM: This has been hella fun! Can't wait to see what next week's assignment will be! Woohooo 👍

Ahem, i typed a guide to the course on post 440.
Ahem.

It took me ages......

Some recognition please.....
Ahem.....
Not you Koly, i saw your reply, glad to help.

Ahem!
:grumpy:

Finally.... FINALLY!!! A clean run, the first, and it just may have to be my last...

T2 1:05.480
T4 2:12.474
T7 3:50.369
T9 4:44.512

sheesh!
