I think with a new set of eyes, a sedative for my nerves, about 20 less years and 300-400 more laps with this combo I might be able to knock 10 seconds out of my time. You guys are posting some amazing times. And there is still nearly a week of racing ahead of us?

Yikes.

 👍 Yeh, that last sector after a clean lap... :nervous: it's really hard to stay focused and not lose your nerve... I lost 0.8 secs on that sector alone just because I slowed down abit, so as not to ruin my lap... I was 4.2 secs up at T11, and only 3.4 secs up at the end...

I too am amazed at some of these times... and after only 1 day!! Looks like I can forget that day out on Sunday... it's going to be 'Green Hell' for me I think... :ill: :sly:

I'm just not smooth enough to keep off the curbing. In some places it works to run on it, but usually the curbs do nothing but upset the car and then it's either off track, or some nerve-wracking braking/countersteering/recovery/slow kind of manuever. The curbs make me nervous.

This combo is teaching me to stay off the curbs.

Well, I still haven't put anything clean together since last night, but I'm starting to learn that 320km/h is the way to go on gearing and I keep finding that my braking points have changed entirely with these R5 tires compared to other cars I usually use on the 'Ring.

What's everyone's technique for entry at Metzgesfeld (this is the very fast uphill left just after the T2 split)? I'm finding a lot of time here in comparison to my ghost, just seem to be carrying a little too much speed to brake for the right.

Also, I agree with Very Egocentric eXpedient Deviant, as 320km for top speed setting seems to be the sweet spot as far as gearing is concerned.:)

Thanx Todd, i was wondering how many months i would have to come up with words for, before you retaliated!

In my mind, the best way into that corner Z is to hit the crest having selected 5th with a dab on the brakes, then run the dark cobbles with your left wheels, then repeat the process in the opposite direction into 4th for the right hander, then 3rd, or maybe 2nd as you hit the realllllllly tight left.

Good luck everyone, im off to improve now, i hope to have an update for you tomorrow or the day after.

My T9 needs lowering by 5 seconds..... :grumpy:

I sat down real quick last night to do 3 laps before running off to watch my son's lacrosse game. Loving my last lap, then lost it on the downhill wiggles at the end of the long back straight. Didn't save anything. :grumpy:

I'll get on it tonight and post some splits, need to get my pride back in my D3 performance!

Ok, that seems about how I was entering it at first and everything seemed fine, then I guess I got a wild idea that I'd just not brake at all and for the first few times I tried it, I'd just carry way too much speed and tried using the same braking point as if I'd entered in 5th. Yea.. locked up and went straight into the wall.

But I got it this time around and gained considerable time on my previous run. For this, I shifted into 6th a little early (seems to help make the car less twitchy when trying to set it straight at the rightmost side of the road), lift coming up the hill, turn in and roll back into the throttle (stabbing it gives me some understeer), get straight then brake -> right, etc. Give it a shot. :)

Edit:

T2: 1'05.927
T4: 2'12.236
T7: 3'49.931
T9: 4'42.793

Not very happy with that run at all, but finding more places to gain time.

Well, I FINALLY got a chance to run this track today, as yesterday was a really hectic day for me and I was able to turn these T-Times for now:

T2: 1'06.535
T4: 2'13.058
T7: 3'51:022
T9: 4'44:956

Must say that the very first left-hander after start/finish line always kills me...I don't know why!

Well, back to the cockpit to turn a few more laps!

PS: Is everyone posting the right T-Times here by chance? If not, remember it's
T2 > T4 > T7 > T9

Hey Anders, That guide is awsome!

good taste in cars too. (BMW 2002 Turbo) I used to own a '70 2002, non-turbo.

Thanks for the link.

Glad it helps.

I have a '73 tii in the garage now. I really need to get working on it.

10 laps in a row, 6 clean, and I only improved T2 by 0.1 over my previous best. I'm obviously using the wrong technique.

T2 - 1'10.137
T4 - 2'21.014
T7 - 4'03.222
T9 - 4'59.784

How the hell am I going to shave 3.5 seconds off the T2 time to be competetive!?

OH YEAH, for those of you who havent figured it out yet, lower your top speed to 320kph...

So far...that's not working for me....

I kept it stock on my first full run and I just beat my own personal best...for this type of car...(Under 600HP)...Will have to keep trying I guess to see how much better I can improve...so far though I'm not getting any closer then my last times I've posted! (Damn It! :D)

Ran maybe 6 - 8 full laps last night. Had to turn the feedback down to "mild" on the DFP because I was getting worn out fighting the wheel. Good times! If my mount was sturdier it might have been better.

All I've gotta say is that if you don't have a DFP, this is a wake-up call. DO IT! :^) I tried going back to the DS2 on this course and I was hosed. Might be because I still don't know it, but there's just so much more information to work with with the wheel.

Unlike last week's race where the DS2 didn't seem like a big disadvantage, this is totally different. Holl, I can't believe you can get such smokin' times with the DS2! Good job!

Didn't get any totally clean laps, but I'm around the 5 minute flat range at T9 and that's with multiple time killing offs.

Back to work now..

Well, after only about 4 more practice laps, I've improved on my previous times by
almost 4 full seconds...

New times......vs......Old Times

T2: 1'05.948....vs....1'06:535
T4: 2'12.615....vs....2'13:058
T7: 3'49.375....vs....3'51:022
T9: 4'42.361....vs....4'44:956

Gotta go grab a bite to eat now...but I'll be back! LOL.....

I'm not even sure I'm in the statistics anymore... Todd - can you check ?..

Anyway - My time consuming french lessons are on holiday for the next 3.5 months, so I think I might pop in every once in a while...

Hi to all the new guys...

A few laps down the road - T9 at 4'50.xxx

I'm not even close to being the fastest, but these things helped me a lot.

First... drive at least two corners ahead of where you're at. Most of the turns in T1 & T2 come in pairs and you'll want to exit the 2nd of the pair at the highest possible speed. So drive into the first thinking about how to get through the second.

Second... you can go flat out through the right hander at the top of the hill just past T1 and the last left hander prior to T2 (there is a right just before T2). It's fast a thrilling when you get it right.

Third... practice, practice, practice

If you can get a replay downloaded to view that would help a lot too. But this is still a competition in progress and that may be a bit hard to come by.

Have fun, get frustrated, and loose sleep... hehehe

Damn, I wish you weren't in my division ... those are some damn good splits ...

I wanna play! I just submitted my qualifying run, will start on doing some 'Ring times right about now...

Only drove about 4 full laps, and tried for an hour, the car is very hard to get used to, but thats probably because ive been driving road cars on the ring for so long :D

these are my current split times
for my fastest complete lap:

T2: 1' 05.129
T4: 2'11.877
T7: 3.49.491
T9: 4.42.139

but i've already had a 1'04.626 for T2, and was over 2 seconds infront of my ghost at T7. This weekend i'll try allot, i wanna go 5 seconds faster then my current time :)

The grip is soooo amazing - something I'm not used to either...

Anyway - Managed to beat my previous best T4 with over 2.5 seconds... Only to fuxx0r up the rest of the run...

At least I feel I'm getting something.. This Combo is simply amazing !....

Finally got a decent lap in with a 2'10.0 T4 and 4'39 T9. Lost about a second in the last section though :(.

this is going to be so much fun and great way to do your head in. GREAT COMBO CMF heres my times for tonight. lots of mistakes but i'm gettting faster

T2 1:06.587
T4 2:12.955
T7 3:51.702
