 Just ruined a 43.204 - 1'20.693 in the wall after T2.
I'd better go to bed, it's 1:23am and I won't be doing anything good that late.

43.143
1.20.997

34.404
1.11.121

34.101
1.10.897

very sloppy but first time I didnt completely wipe out before T2, almost though

After some extra checking, I decided to make the oil change compulsory.
The reason to that is very simple : the power displayed in the replay doesn't take into account the oil change.

I mean, 291 hp shown in the replay means that both port polish and engine balancing have been applied to the car, but it doesn't give any indication about an oil change.
So the car could have been at 296 hp (without oil change), or at 311 hp (with oil change), the replay will still show 291 hp.

So please make sure you're changing oil in your car, and sorry for that.

SWEEEEET!!!! Love the track(a LOT), and the car's freaking awesome too! I'll get some initial splits up tonight... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I got myself a power-combo that earns 298PS on the tuning screen: Oil, Exhaust and Stg. 1 NA Tune.

And to Cyril: I just discovered how bad my gearing is - I never reach 6th, I barely even drive in 5th (down the straight for a few seconds).. But I feel uncomfortable with 8. I dunno, 17 leaves me out of the power-curve (the weird one) for too long when braking, and 8 is just too many changes for my slow, auto-tranny-used brain...

And, someone's gotta take the slowest this week, so here are the splits:
0'46.915 - 1'28.053
0'39.622 - 1'20.029
0'39.205 - 1'19.841
I pulled off a manouver that would classify me as an alien, if the rest of the splits weren't that slow... On the uphill before T2, I once didn't brake - only violently steered left. The result: I flew up, landed on the top, and with full accelleration got extemely close to the wall on the right... Kinda like in Holl01s DFP replays. T'was checked by me many, many times, but no speed-drop occures.

I also found a line-up which I can pass on the right-hand sweeper. Has an Amuse street-legal infront, an Opera S2000 behind, then a NISMO R-Tune, a RUF BTR, and a Spoon S2000. Surprisingly, the S2000s all have the lead (all 4 places) after only one lap...

LSD 5/25/15
Driving Aids = none!(pussies!)

Doesn't a value of 5 on the Initial Torque open up the differential completely? I use 10/33/12, and it helped.

And back to the main topic: I managed to slice off an average 5 seconds off every lap, and slightly more on the 1st. Finished with a 12.x seconds lead over a RUF CTR2

Field:
Amuse S2000 Street
Mine's Lancer Evolution
NISMO Fairlady Z Z-Tune
Spoon S2000
RUF CTR2

I overtook 2 on the straight already, and swept by the Amuse, Nismo and RUF at the right-hand sweeper. T1 was already ~4 seconds ahead of them.
I did change to Auto 10 gearing - Much faster. Thanks for the hint, Cyril. I now top out 5th gear before the uphill+tunnel combo, and use most of my gears at the top when reaching a corner...

T1s: 0'45.005, 0'37.943, 0'37.762
T2s: 1'24.720, 1'17.361, 1'16.599

EDIT: Sorry for the Double-post. Didn't think a new week could be so deserted...

Ok, now im confused. Are you saying we can have 311hp aslong as the replay says under 300hp?

Technically yes.
I thought about it last night, and came to the conclusion that making oil change compulsory won't help much as far as the replay checking is concerned.
Replays will be checked next week, while we all are involved in the team event, and looking for contacts with AI/walls will already take some time :
we don't want to spend more time checking if no illegal parts were used.

So... I'm changing my mind a last time, to make things as simple as possible. Sorry about that.

RULE MODIFICATION
(Last one... er, I hope so)

The power limit rule is now : 300 hp maximum shown in the replay.
Advantages :
  • Checking replays will be easier since we will simply have to check that the figure displayed doesn't exceed 300hp
  • We now have an extra 10 or 15hp available
Drawback :
  • All runs ran so far are still legal but are not competitive anymore since they lack a couple of hp (but I'm the one who ran the most laps, so I guess it makes up for all the rule changes).

Oh yeah... This'll make some things easier. But now every testing of new power configurations will have to be tested in a replay...

EDIT: I just received 301PS in the replay. Damn.

EDIT 2: Settled for 296PS in the replay. Prema-mods applied, and I think a chip...

EDIT 3: This time, brand-spankin' new splits. I checked, and in total, I cut of 35 seconds off my first clean times. Had a RUF-less field, where the only overtaking at the sweeper is the slow Spoon S2000 and the Opera S2000.
Had some laps bordering on my perfect limit, but there's still something in them. Funny I say that, even before the last week is officially over...

Lap 1:
0'44.068
1'22.422
Lap 2:
0'36.549
1'14.814
Lap 3:
0'36.026 (I think I could manage, with a little luck, a 0'35.0)
1'15.235

This 296PS Beauty tears up the track like nothing... Other tuner-cars are helpless.

Well I haven't raced yet because I find I waste a lot of time in GT-Mode weeks racing on my own crap-tastic settings. So this week I'll wait until I see a bit more. In the interest of people *hopefully* sharing their settings and tips I'll post how to get exactly 300hp:
  • NA Tune 1
  • Engine Balancing
  • Racing Chip
  • Racing Exhaust
  • And of course the Oil change
That'll give you exactly 300hp in the replay window which equates to 320hp everywhere else 👍

Now one thing some wise tuner might be able to help me with...do I Increase Rigidity? I'm unsure of whether it is beneficial or not?

First of all, thanks for the 300Hp tip Colby! 👍
And I would fit the rollcage, reason being, it makes it easier to get the suspension right and keep it right.

As Cyril states he has already clocked up 155 km on his second brand new R1, and this race is very addictive too!
So it will keep the handling crisp for the whole week of hundreds of laps.

Neil

I tried this, and it equaled, If I recall correctly, 301PS. Perhaps I should move back to HP...

And from my own expirience (I'm not a good tuner), in this car the rigidity helps. It added alot of bite to the chassis, and enabled quicker changes of direction and improved the turn-in.

I still have only 1KM clocked on my first R1. But then again, I reset after every 200KM, to keep my win-ratio and keep the power of the R1. Total, I suppose I clocked 1200KM, in about 30+ full laps and atleast 50 bad starts...

I just know that in the week we raced the WRX around Deep Forest, it was revealed that the rigidity increase was detrimental so I don't want to put hundreds of km's in only to find out a soft chassis is better suited to El Capitan.

As for the preservation of your win/loss ratio Metar, surely resetting the PS2 constitutes cheating yourself :sly:

I bought this morning a fourth S2000 R1 (first was lime green, second was platinum white, third was dark blue and the latest one is all black with gold rims) and tuned it to 320hp (300hp in the replay).
The NA stage 1 helps a bit to overtake all AI : I can now pass everybody and take the lead in the first right-hander by staying on the outside of the track.

Seen 42.7 at first T1 but didn't complete a full race so far.

I didn't install the rollcage : I drift most of the turns (personal driving technique in the S2000's, see the results for week 44), and I've always thought that having a low rigidity helped.

Why cheating? I reset my dirty runs like in arcade mode - only this time, since it affects my game, I reset the PS2...

Cyril: With a normal field (as if: RUFs are 4th place or behind), it's possible to overtake everyone at the right-sweeper, even without the NA tune. Even Oil+Chip only can do that...

Yup, you got it!
Change it back to HP and all's well.

I suppose it's down to individual driving style then.

I like to keep it more in-line than drifting, so the stiffness helps. With my settings I am getting 4 wheel drifts which I do like, and the occassional rear-wheel drift when I want it (the second left after T2) by down-shifting and keeping the boot in!

Horses for courses! I reckon!

Most of the time I have a Ruf in 4th or 5th position, plus another one on the front line, behind a Skyline.

I do a mixture, which mainly consists of gripping, with slides when needed. As an example, the quick left after the first corner. It can be passes at full throttle while initiating a big slide, which is easily caught due to the R2s. Or the double "mini-Spoon" after T2, on which enough speed can be made in the first one, so that drifing (or powersliding) is the fastest way to pass the second one.
But each to his preferences - I tried a soft-chassis R1, and didn't like it. I missed the direct reactions and the feedback.

Most of the time I have a Ruf in 4th or 5th position, plus another one on the front line, behind a Skyline.

There's even a lineup with 3 RUFs, in 1st, 2nd and 4th ;)
But there are many where you have the RGT or CTR2 at 5th - It takes them a while to pass other cars, and meanwhile you can gain 1st. Also, there's the RUF-less one with the Celica in pole...

New Splits, again:
0'43.520 - 1'22.422
0'37.000 (!) - 1'15.503
0'35.706 - 1'14.403
I had an amazing first lap... Second was pretty slow, but on the third, well, I had nothing to loose - either slower than before, or not. So I floored it, and it paid off.

On you tail Cyril!

^ Yep, but the split I posted yesterday were achieved with 299hp, not 320.
I hope I can find again the Ruf-less Skyline-less line-up.
And BTW, we run on R4s, not on R2s.

rigity does very little to the dynamics of the car, i have never bought it though so i cant say that. but generally speaking a soft suspension is better than a rigid one. will give this ****er a go in 10 mins

Wait, so we're tuning for 300hp in the replay? Mmmk then, will do!

EDIT: So, I ran a couple races last night, and definitely wasn't clean. This thing has some nasty snap oversteer in my case, and I haven't heard of any of you guys talking about it??? I just ran a couple more with 319 hp instead of 298, and toyed with suspension/diff/braking settings, and it's still a bit of an annoyance. No splits yet, only about 15 minutes into actual racing, and it's time for work.

For what it's worth, I'd rather have 319hp and two more lb.ft. of torque than 320hp and two less lb.ft... So, I went with chip, racing exhaust, stage one, and a port and polish. The balancing instead of port and polish gives you 320hp, but less torque.

So what counts is the replay 300 HP?

So what counts is the replay 300 HP?

Yes. Cyril changed the "thing that matters" to the replay-power, to ease up on replay checking (since there are 5 AIs and 3 tough laps to check)...

And Kyle, look for a RUF-less field. There's even one without the Nismo Skyline. With 8-10 gearing you should be able to overtake everyone at the right-hand sweeper, if there's no RUF, without any problems of contact. Just brake a little and floor it from the outside.

Wow, my T1s aren't that bad... ~1.5 seconds off a Div1 driver... Whew. And the T2s could use a little more speeding. I know I'm loosing time in that hairpin, as well as overbraking on the uphill part. The corner before T1 is a pesky little problem, too.

Cyril, I'll worship you for this week, even if next week is worse than hell.

Just came back, hung out at the beach with friends (;)). The Sister has got control of the PS2, and I'm at my dad's house for the next 4 days. So sadly, next PS2 session will be in 5 days...

Thanks! New splits:

0'42.712 - 1'19.342
0'34.028 - 1'10.399
0'34.067 - 1'10.839

I think I'm loosing to much time in T1 mainly on the 2 last laps, and in 3rd lap I lost .9 for my best one.

Update:

0'42.308 - 1'18.981
0'33.518 - 1'10.034
0'33.546 - 1'10.244

Update:

0'42.042 - 1'18.735
0'33.538 - 1'09.663
0'33.934 - 1'10.403
