GT4 WRS Week 71 : "El Capit-"

I searched on the web for some settings, but they only gave the car a huge understeering tendancy, so here are my own craptastic settings :

Brake controller : 3 / 3 (didn't bother with this one)

Spring rate : 12.6 / 8.5 (the rear end is a bit all over the place, but as long as the front end goes where I want, that's ok for me)
Ride height : 68 / 71 (I like when the car is low and many people seem to fancy having the rear end higher than the front)
Dampers : 8 / 8 and 8 / 8 (I remember that the more I touch this, the less driveable the car is, so any default value is fine)
Camber angle : 2.0 / 1.0 (I don't care about dampers, see above, I care even less about angles)
Toe angle : 0 / 0 (see above)
Stabiliser : 6 / 4 (I already said that I like when the front end goes the way I want, and the rear end just has to follow)

Tranny : Auto 7 (no tranny trick, final at default 4.100)
Driving aids : 0 / 0 / 0
LSD : standard (let my wheels spin if they want to)

need to refine some dumb corners, and the setup is non existent at the moment, i havent touched anything accept the gears, which are quite critical in this race. and i need to refine them also, tranny trick sort of works, the most important part is the start, will update this with another final session later, my finishes were horrible so i didnt save the replay, enjoyable, yet sometimes frustrating, particularly passing the RUF on the right sweeper, my blood was boiling at one stage, steam coming out of ears

thats my logic down to a T, the less things u change the more variables u introduce into the equation, and hence, the harder it will be to find and stick with a particular setup
 
Ok this is my first times with a clean lap :) :)
I had to go free run on this track first as i didn't know it at all, iv got the hang off it now thou.

Before I make an attempt to run this, is a replay required with your times due to the new rule? I don't have a device for that (at least not yet), and don't want to waste my time and GT Credits by being disqualified from the event.

I had another source, where the character is called Han and means to amuse oneself, hence the Capit-Han ;)
Nice find anyway, I was expecting a few of us to wonder what this character was doing here, but I didn't think someone would look for himself instead of asking and waiting for an answer. 👍

A replay will be requested if you run a top time in your own division. Check the results for last week : all names shown in 'gold color' are requested to provide a replay.

Just don't change the HP rules again please, my head is starting to hurt.

aight had a a quick 30 minutes on this so far and have managed to get these splits

42.375 - 1'19.372
33.570 - 1'09.927
33.547 - 1'10.001

heaps of time to be made up yet, probably another second a lap

oh and for all the people wanting to know how to get a good start, balance the revs at 7000-7500rpm and then floor it as you start, using gearing set at 9 you should haul lard off the line
 
Sounds fun. Though, posts in this thread certainly are quick.
 
nothing fast enough so far, but i have seen DIRTY NOT FOR THE LEADERBOARD SPLITS

This race is fun, settings are standard, only changed gears. Tranny Trick, final 4.000

Sweet combo,but I really need a good setup if I'm to continue racing at this one.I'm not the setup guy...the more I experiment with it,the worst it gets.:ouch:

well sapent some more time on this combo, and i have to say it is quite addictive...

41.760 - 1'18.056 (saw a 41.3xx - 1'17.4xx lap, but ballsed up the next lap)
33.344 - 1'09.364
33.204 - 1'09.284

still another 1.5 - 2 seconds left in it from what i can see...
 
Would someone mind explaing what the tranny trick is all about. Does it give that car more power or?

FUnny thing about this combo. I was running it a week ago with stock settings on the R1 to beat the AI wrs style. Let me tell you it was no easy feat. GT mode is always more fun.

THanks I will try that out see if I improve. I cant for the life of me get under 43sec in the first lap on T1. I might be too nice with the AI.:ouch:

The dictionary I found didn't give the "han" part... but the definition in simplified chinese is listed as "amusement"; pretty much the same.
I'd assume "to amuse oneself" comes into play when it's put into context.
Chinese is fun like that, same character can have 10 different meanings depending on how its used.

Look carefully next time you crash in this wall : there must be tons of debris from the numerous cars I've crashed here. :)

lots of time left, but Im finding it really hard to remain consistent through out the 3 laps. Also depends on what group of AI you're paired with.
