Yeah, E30 Evo, with such times it'd be time to consider purchasing a Max Drive or else your times will be DQed as was your first win :(

I saved a new race with the following splits :
43.292 - 1'20.488
34.316 - 1'11.164
34.430 - 1'11.242
and improving my total time by 1.5 seconds.

My times are looking like that now that I've switched to six gears. That said, my start has been changed drastically and I'm in the process of figuring out which one is best for me. With the old one (the one with the RGT, RX7 and Spoon S2000 just ahead of me) I either get stuck behind the RX7 on that left sweeper, or he pushes me off the course even if I'm hanging on desperately to that rumble strip.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get a clean run in. My times are looking SHARP now. :sly:

A replay will be requested if you run a top time in your own division. Check the results for last week : all names shown in 'gold color' are requested to provide a replay.

Guess I won't need to provide a replay anytime soon then. :P I'll try this out and see what happens.

Haven't read half of the thread, and haven't put any more time into it yet. I fear I may only have monday to play... And I need to get time into the qualification for next week too!

22 in 5.5 minutes.... :sly:

i'd like to invite one of the sub-3'40 (3*t2) players to share settings with us. it looks like this car can be squeezed for more but i cant find out how.

Here's my first splits:

T1: 0`42.239
T2: 1`18.876
T1: 0`33.449
T2: 1`09.992
T1: 0`33.483
T2: 1`10.031

As far as settings go, I turned all aids off, LSD at 5/5/5 and I have stabilisers at 3/3 and all bound and rebound dampers at 1. I Tranny tricked as someone suggested too 👍

Board Updated

I'm happy with my suspension settings but I might try the tranny trick.
Do you all put auto on 1 and final on 4.100 ?

The best splits I've seen so far are : 42.4 - 1'19.6 for a first lap and 33.6 - 1'10.9 for a flying lap, but I ruined them in a wall on lap 3.

I've tried Tranny-tricking, it didn't help much, but also didn't make it worse. I used a final of 3.933, so I won't bounce off the rev-limiter...
I also changed my suspension: Now, LSD is at 10/22/7. I discovered that this way, I get faster around sharp corners (double left before T2, "hair"pin after T1, etc). I also lowered the front to 70, and let the anti-rollers some space (3/3). With this, I made my splits from yesterday.
I had some pretty stunning laps, but one other lap always got screwed up. I had a 1'18er 1st T2 once... :odd:

That being said, I've got a nice savefile right now. I only have to enter the event twice to get the Nismo+RUFless field, which can be overtaken uber-cleanly at the sweeper. Am I the only one who barely has AI trouble? I take the sweeper from the outside, with little braking.
And this brings me to my next point: Rigidity and braking. I tested this car, once rigidity-less, once stiffened, and one who ran 1000 miles without rigidity. I got better results from the rigid chassis, simply because it strenghthens the effects of a quick dab of the brakes. So instead of coasting, a quick dab and then flooring it will make the understeer turn into a neutral turn...

I don't have AI trouble any more. I even try to avoid the Ruf-less, Nismo-less line-up I was looking for with the 300hp car, because I now catch them up too soon with the extra 20hp.
I now stay 5th on the straight, ride the rumble strip on the left hand side and brake late to overtake 3 cars. Only the Ruf remains which I pass at the next braking.

I simply found that having no one in my way really enables me to speed up times - I manage full throttle up to the left-left combo (2nd and 3rd before T1), and even there only a dab of the brakes is needed... I've optimized my overtaking too much to try it out with the RUF now...

Getting the max drive might be a possibility if after all school purchases I have some change left over. If I do then I hope to make everyone happy. I dont wish to make anyone not believe me but those are T times that I did cleanly.

Ok now for some pointers that I figured out and helped me tremedously. Heres my set up, although this car can be driven fast with stock settings so this one is up to preference.

F/R
11.0/10.5
66/66
2/2
2/2
camber
3.0/2.0
toe
0/0(have not experimented with this as I think the car will be slowed down)
1/1

BB 3/3
no aids (of course)
lsd 5/15/10 (its a bit conservative considering the grip the car generates, but allows you to be smother, if I had dfp i might set this lower)

then tranny trick auto1 final 4.100

The kind of Ai you get is crucial really. I got lucky and saved right before I get and easy pack of AI. When my car loses power because of all the restarts I just reset and get the same AI so i got lucky like that. Im up against a spoon, mines evo, opera, nismo, btr. I take all of them by Turn 3.

A good start is crucial. Usually you should be past everyone and into second by the first turn. Now comes the hard part overtaking the btr. Its not hard per say, but I carry so much speed through the turn that $(&$ing RUF looks like its standing still. The fastest option, although not the easiest, is to overtake it on the INSIDE. For this the first turn you must take a mid apex to set up for the pass and Turn 3. If take correctly you should feel no vibrations in the ds2 and stick the bump pretty well, then ur on your way.

For the rest its up to you the driver. Heres a note, you do not need to get out of 4th gear until the hairpin and thats the only 3rd gear corner. Thats how I lost most of my time in T1 and couldnt figure out how Div1 was getting 41's in T1 and 17s in T2. Even the right hander before the bridge needs fourth gear. Possible the 2nd mos challengin turn since there is a lot of understeer there if you trail break like me :P.

That 41.395 was pretty much on the edge and quite well taken. I might not improve on that one much. But the rest is possible. Im confident most of you should get into the 41s now without too much hassle. GL HF lol.

Now to try better those times, heres comes the constipation.

EDIT: Oh, and holl01 hasnt posted for a while, God knows what hes cooked up. He's the only dude in the 32s in T1. :P

New splits. As usual, the improvement is hardly noticable here, but I finally started taking the double-left combo at full throttle, as well as taking the final turn at ~135-140.

0'43.401 (I get those often)
1'21.194 (Not the best, but the finish was great)
0'35.092 (Meh)
1'13.074
0'35.114 (Meh again)
1'12.876 (Best yet, but still some in it).

I wanted to ask... What's your "Ingredient" for a good lap? I mean, after knowing the track, knowing the car, and getting the right setup... What makes a lap better?
For me, it's the right track - the Bach one usually does it, or the one from the "ending" movie (with the Ford GT). Time-stress - When I have to do something else very soon, I normally best myself and get quicker laps. And a good motivation. This week, as an example, I said, gold or nothing. I saw RedWolfRacer's splits, and told myself no Div3 is gonna be infront of me this time... And it gave me a boost.
What are your special conditions for a good lap?

The more I practise, the slower I go.
I'm now trying Evo's settings which help through the revese Corkscrew-like section, but I'm now losing time in several other sections.
I'll try and soften the rear suspension because it's a bit understeering.

I always though a softer front makes less understeer, since it adds front grip.
The reverse corkscrew is actually pretty fun, since it's like the one in Laguna Seca, only slightly less... serious. You feel fun doing it, not fear...
EDIT: Does it happen to you, that you carry too much speed through the "corky" and start drifting on the T2 mini-straight? My best T2 was made this way...

Me too, the more I practice, I'm less concentrated. But on the first or second lap, I'm still not "into it" mentally...

Well for me a good lap is clean and fast. Meaning no unnecessary tire squealing, hitting all my apexes, right lines, pushing the limit and good T times. On this track its basically doing a good first lap. But my interpretation is diff than yours, dont worry about other ppl, worry about you :P.

Well Metar, what you say makes sense, but I just lowered the front spring rate from 11.0 to 7.0 and it reinforced the understeering.
I lowered the rear spring rate from 10.5 to 8.0 and I have what I was looking for.

Edit :
First race out of pits with these settings :
42.830 - 1'19.885
33.914 - 1'10.955
34.473 - 1'11.498

and an improvement of 2 seconds on the race time.

***cough*** http://www.gtvault.com/gt4/setup-view/s_sid::3231/Amuse-S2000-R1/ ***cough***

this is what i have been using (without the tranny trick mind you)

bookmark gtvault.com for future setup references champ...
thank you andrew. i have 30-something setups over there so i know my way around. its just that i esteem the top wrs guys over the vault bro's.
including yourself mate.
racing wrs based on topgun settings lets me know its just me thats slower not the car ...

i'll try evo's settings but itmt i am rubbing dan to publish his :ill:

I surely want to believe you E30,but
the problem is ,I have seen to many people who said they were honest but in the end it turns the other way around.

Don't let this happen to you,
By posting the fastest splits and making clear what you are capable of also brings a responsibility.
Proof such times with a max-drive.
Short of money is a much heard comment over here, which I totally believe because I am always short on it too.
But going to the movies requires buying a ticket, driving a car without some gas in the tank is also impossible.
So competing in the wrs also has a price.

Owing a max-drive makes you a respectful driver and is a nice device for watching other racers replays.

In the meantime can you confirm your tires\hp,just to avoid any hassles about that.

And something else:
Please consider it a honour when people ask for a replay.
(I never could achieve that myself.:) )
Well in this case you didn't save,to bad.

I understand what you're saying. About the money thing, the only thing I will say is some things have priority over others. I am a respectful racer without the max drive or whatever, I am not believable I understand that, respectful I'd like to think so.

Today I have not yet completed 3 clean laps with competitive times. Best frist lap is up there with the one I posted, maybe about one thenth slower in each sector. But the 2nd and 3rd laps I'm way too nervous and lose a lot of time or make a mistake. How do you guys deal with that, do you just not look at the T times. Been a big problem of mine ever since I started racing sims.

I will say this, if I complete a session up to my par than make sure I will do all possible to get a drive thingy.

Save your replays on your card and save a couple of quid ( £££ / $$$ ) a week and before not too long you will have an armfull of replays and the cash to buy the max drive thingy ;)

Another idea is to find somewhere in your neighborhood that has a Max Drive and to whom you could bring/send your memcard so that he extracts the replays for you. (That is, until you can afford the Max Drive).
As I recall there are several people in the Toronto area. (Luke for instance, but there certainly are other ones).

Mr P how come you dont compete? Thanks for the ecouragement, now even more pressure to perform. Where's holl01 when you need him :P. As I said I will do my best for this race to get it. No borrowing bs, thats prolly even more annoying, but a good suggestion none the less.

Hi Evo

I do compete just not often in the WRS ... I race every week at GT.de in the GC competition and I run many comps here in the short race section, I actually have run roughly 100 races in WRS in GT3 days ;) I have a private forum where we race occasionally also :P

I have signed up for the team event in WRS 72 though with my wife as my partner 👍

Thats kinda why I asked since I remember you from GT3, I been trolling around this place a long time. I actually registered in wrs gt3 too, but got discouraged at how bad I was never really took it up again until now with GT4.

Things are looking marginally better, but I have not found my T2 form from yesterday.

41.67x
1.17.999(lol)
33.284
1.09.23x
33.550
1.09.6xx

How I managed 1.08.7x ill really never know since I didnt save. I dunno how much faster that Eau Rouge turn can be taken, otherwise id be flurting with that jagged mountain too much. I guess my time loss is at the double apex right hander after T1 an the hairpin. Which I cant really see how i can improve on. I'm baffled.

The more I practise, the slower I go.
I'm now trying Evo's settings which help through the revese Corkscrew-like section, but I'm now losing time in several other sections.
I'll try and soften the rear suspension because it's a bit understeering.

NO NO NO Cyril......

Soften the front if it's too understeery. (Ooh, is that a word?)

Unless it's under acceleration it's understeering, if it is then stiffen the back.

Darren.
