Board Updated

I'm gonna email my replay to some folk to check before I decide to submit it. Wanna be sure it's okay. The problem is I slipped under a second barrier with it that I really wanted and I can't seem to do it again...but I do have a replay that is like .05 over the second barrier :(

I can't do week 71 this week because of my arm. I ended up going to the hospital on monday because there is a blood clot in my left arm. I got home on thursday but have been busy trying to find out how I got the clot. I will be doing week the 72 Qualification Round because its short. I will be doing week 72 also.

That's the first set-up I tried but I discarded it immediately. Doesn't suit my driving style at all.

doesn't look like it suits physics either.
higher rear camber on a rwd car?
higher bump than rebound on the dampers?
none of that makes logical sense.

I'm checking your replay now Colby, I'll be back in 15 minutes (If the bloody finicky ARMax will boot up).

well try it and you'll see it does make sense.

I know exactly what its going to do. its going to understeer at high speed, oversteer at low speed and have a tendancy to get light and floaty over bumps... to each his own, but the car will probably be faster if you reverse all those numbers.

Checked Colb's lap. The ARMax actually worked 1st time!
Colby, I'm 100% sure it's clean. It was ludicrously close, but clean 👍

Thanks Ben.
Just a quick reminder to those who weren't racing back in week 36 where Neil (bored enough after his birthday party) had thoroughly tested the way to detect contacts and his conclusion was that the game engine can properly render car/wall contacts, but not car/car contacts.
So while photomode can provide evidence that the car touched a wall, contacts with AI cars can only be detected by the G-meter or sudden direction change.

Thanks for checking my lap man...I'm gonna submit it now then, I tried to beat it today and was quite unsuccessful :)

Getting out of cars isn't a problem... If a lousy Div3 can manage it, what did you expect from Colby?

By the way, The problem with this course, is that most of the walls are invisibles... Since mostly, the walls aren't really seenable - the flat surface, or slightly-hilly surface simply continues, or ends, in unexpected places. Therefore, I could brush the wall with the side-mirror, and the bump would barely be noticeable (if it's done smoothly), both in the analyzer (which we don't have for this week) and in the G-meter. And visibly, it'd look perfectly clean.

I see i was beaten too it, but wearys lap is clean in my eyes too. So so close though.
Ive submitted my lap now, max drive was being a good boy today so i have replays for 71 and 72qual now 👍

Actually, mirrors can pass through walls in GT4 and not count as physical impacts. Take one of my trademark close calls on week 52 (Which was DQ'd but for another area...)

As you can see, almost half of the mirror is in the wall, but if you check the data logger, no speed drop is shown at all.

Bloody hell. I havn't even raced this combo yet, better get cracking to catch Weary :sly:

Ooh, nice one. But this only confirms the problem - one can brush those walls, and, as Brad proved, the mirror can actually be outside those walls... And because we're analyzer-less, we can't check things 100%

But really, we've had that problem for every one of the multilappers that we've had for the last 72 weeks, and it's never really been an issue. People don't usually push that close on multilaps anyway.

That's a point...

Say, why aren't you posting laptimes? Do you want to make Colby fear for his Avatar again?

:sly:

I'll have a run the night before the deadline again like last week, just to break Colbys heart.

I suppose he suspected this already...

But now, it's a battle between you and a fixed laptime - Colby submitted...

Even though it's a battle Brad usually wins, I like it...at least I know I went down swinging :sly:

I noticed he mostly wins, but hey - I guess it makes you improve your times too. I mean, when under pressure, I always get better laps...

...Was it a good sesh buddy?

Used to play guitar in my youth(in a band too), and my fingers still remember the pain!:ouch:

Neil

I'll ignore the first part of this post Neil, :) I'm only ten stone soaking wet so there's not much to hang a guitar strap on. :D Bloody brilliant session. 👍 I haven't been in the studio for nearly four years and my fingers hurt like hell today.

I remember that. It was my first week hanging around the WRS and trying to keep my S2000 away from the walls and grass etc on a wet Tsukuba the following week... :nervous:

And I thought I'd started it late as I hadn't touched it until about 12 hours ago.

After the last five or six weeks I'm surprised you can still stand. :D :sly:

No problem at all Colby, you've done the same for me, on week 67 were I came oh-so-close the the fence on the chicane before T2. :scared:

Anytime buddy.

I just had to move my PS2 from my sister's room to the living room. Results: Bad. Visibility is much worse, since my sister has a dark room, and the living-room is flooded with light. Plus, I can no longer play late...

Now, because of the bad visibility (TV is flooded with light, everything looks pale and un-contrasting), I have to shift by hearing, which is a little tough at the starting line (so many noises...), and the line-taking isn't as good. I did smash my older times, but never on a 3-lap combo...

Took some pictures, which mostly signals that this week is finished for me... Though it might be not. I'm gonna work some more tomorrow...

I have the problem of a teeny-tiny television. It's 15" I think, which is fine close up, but far is a no-go zone. Can't see the damn thing!

Same thing, which is ok when playing at my sister's room - 2/2.5 meters isn't that much. But at the living room, it's a tiny thing among so many other things - my cat walks around, my mom sorts things out, my brother plays or assembles puzzles. So much non-game input, and I can hardly see the TV anyways. It's just too small for those 4-5 meters...

38" Plasma, from 2 - 2.5 meters, not that it helps my times much. :D

Done a few more races with some really good T-times, just not all in the same clean race. :banghead:

If I can link a few good ones together I reckon I could get at least four or five seconds off my T2 totals and obviously more at the line.

I did have a blinder of a first lap earlier with a sub 1'19 at T2 on the first lap, only to crash at the right left left bit afterwards, 'cos I was looking at the splits, dumbass. :ouch:

Shame as it had a very, very close high speed drifting overtake to get me into first place past a BTR that I would have been really proud to show off come results day. :D

Back to the grind.

Darren.
