No special tribute race as requested. On the one hand "Hamster" is recovering pretty soon (cross fingers), on the other hand he's a fan of muscle cars, and I have a muscle car race ready. So a little change in my planning is enough.
Stay away from the walls, don't be too hard on the gas pedal or you'll lay down rubber all across Hong-Kong and enjoy this race 👍

OHHH WEEE! That's gonna be great! A Parade of cars...

Honk-Honk @ Hong Kong, a Traffic-jam!

I just hate Hong Kong... I expect no more than a bronze.

My possible contenders right now are the Shelby 'Stang 350, or the 'Vette Stingray. The Sting for this awsome design, and the Shelby for the light weight. Probably the Stingray.

This might be bad one for me cos its the one track where the Ai are just as quick as me, if not quicker:(
But on a good note this week i get to choose the car cool:):)

hi michael, i don't know how well you know gt4 but if it says 'time trail' you won't be bothered by ai cars like in 'single race' mode.

to cyril: i thought that by now you knew i don't like city tracks. why do you keep using them in wrs? you know, one day i'll set up my own race competition just to get rid of this ... oh well i might just do it right now ... oh, i think i already did LOL

List of cars and the required adjustments to them:

(Sorted from the lowest weight to the highest. Cars in bold are recommended because of a certain feature)
(Weight given is always the arcade-mode 10% off)
(a + means power must be added, a - means it needs less)

Competitive Cars:

Shelby 350GTR Mustang: 1141KG (👍), therefore needs 285BHP (-7%) (Low weight and nimble handling)

Chevy Camaro SS: 1260KG, 315BHP (+)

Chevrolet Camaro Z28 302 1969: 1273KG, so 318BHP(+)

Mercury Cougar XR: 1276KG, 319BHP (0%)

Pontiac Tempest GTO Le Mans: 1278KG, 319BHP (-)

Chevrolet Corvette C3 Stingray: 1341KG, 335BHP (-5%)

Cuda Sixpack: 1418KG, 354BHP (-)

Dodge Charger R/T 440: 1485GK, 371BHP (-1%) (Produced good splits for the Div1 drivers, and is a good sportscar)

Plymouth Superbird: 1579KG, 394BHP (-)

Chevrolet Chevelle SS: 1585KG, 396BHP (-12%)

Dodge Superbee HEMI: 1656KG, 414BHP (-3%)

There are some others I probably didn't see, tell me and I'll add it, for the convinience of other users.

Un-eligible/Worthless cars:

Shelby Cobra: Much too powerful. Would need 240HP to be competitive.

Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) 1963: +20% Power won't give it the required PTW. Pass this car.

Buick Special '62: Waaayyy too much power.

Notes: The Chevy Coupe isn't powerfull enough to reach the 4 PTW ratio, only 4.14 is achievable. I'd say, you can take the car, but it won't win you anything. The Buick is just much too powerfull to reach a 4 PTW ratio...

Pretty final, I think. I'll add percents as the week progresses.

Hope to Help!

Here is a list of all eligible cars. But wait, you need to search a bit by yourself, so I'll only post cars that have been mentioned already.
  • Corvette Stingray L46 350 (C3) '69 (-5% power = 333 hp)
  • Shelby Mustang G.T. 350R (-7% power = 284 hp)

Edit :
Nice job Metar. I'll let you progress a bit more before I post a list (it might not even be worth it. :mischievous:

Haha, I finished doing (most) of the list with the help of the Wiki and my cellphone calculator...

EDIT: Added the Buick, and started adding Cyril's percents

I don't think the Buick special is a road car. Its a tunner car.

The Buick Special is a road car but it has a p/w ratio under 3, even at -20% power.

My first splits are

31.032
1'05.109

In a 371bhp Charger. DFP & D2

Yet another crappy week imo.
Bugger it 👎

I f'ing HATE multi-choice races.
No offence intended Cyril.

Metar, you got any ideas for our ARS this week? :P

None taken.
Especially from someone who co-organizes a series where each race is a multiple choice :P :P

But that series has different ethics, it's totally different to WRS. The idea is to have fun, not be the total best there is.
:P
If a series is to see who is fastest, multi car choice is a no-no in my opinion.

But that's just me.

Ok, its out. But I disagree on road car. When selected in Arcade Mode at the top right its states its a Tuner Car. NTSC it is, not sure with Pal.

gentleman (and ben): language, language.

obviously i don't agree with friend ben about multi-car events. in fact, a wrs week is less exciting to me if i cannot pick a car from a little list.

which is why i browsed thru my garage for something i could drive in that eastern city. god, do i unlike old american muscle. this week is a good lesson for learning breaking points and to cope with true massive understeer.

most of the cars behave really lousy, but this one is not too bad.

xxx 1276kg/316hp (-1%) 33.610 - 1.11.259

this is truly my very first go so don't laugh too loud please, it'll get better.

Cool beans, back in arcade mode wOOt! U gonna have time to race this week Curtis? I'd love to 'attempt' to chase ur splits.

Jerome

All these cars seem to under steer so badly.:grumpy:

Well, these american cars from the mid-60's and 70's are what made the modern ones known as 'bend allergenics'. :sly:

I begin to see that the picture gives a clue on a possible fav car to use (Stingray :D).

Yay! It's time to jump at the chance to use the Superbird! I've loved it since M14, and now I get to use it! Once again, hooray!

Although, my times aren't as good as I'd hoped. (no times to share just yet, still working on finding the right line.;))

On a side note, can anyone verify if the file in this thread is usable, I don't want to submit my replay and then find out it doesn't work.:nervous:

hmm, f'ing s'house track choice, hong kong is one of the worst and most unenjoyable tracks to drive in forward, i can imagine how terribly crap it would be in reverse, and alot of car choices make combo not as inticing as previous weeks, we will see

I was thinking that you should add Power-To-Weight is in HP/KG. Just in case people are using KW or lb or PS or other funny systems.

Also, this is getting very technical for the typo comp. But isn't 'american' a proper noun therefore needing a capital letter?

I don't understand why no one likes Hong Kong. It's one of my favorite tracks! (haven't run it much in reverse though) It also looks great in 1080i by the way.

There's no doubt that I will take the Shelby Mustang on this one. I have been running that car a lot in GT mode lately. It's just a blast to drive! 👍

I found the typo! I think. Well, it makes sense that it's a typo now, but there might have been something that's already been edited out of this thread...?

And Cyril, any reason why we can't go older than '60? What if I want to drive one of the original muscle cars? Like the 53 or whatever Corvette C1? Or maybe, you're saving that one for later because I like it so much? GT Mode full tune, medium or harder tires, maybe even sports? :sly:

I might just get a head start on this race and leave week 74 behind... Very possible actually. Yep, I'm going to do that. Will submit week 74 now. 👍 Tis a shame I didn't start on it earlier though!

Well after seeing Daan's time, I guess I can rule out my skillz with the DS2 and/or the Shelby... After about 20+ minutes of struggling with wheelspin and what not I'm at a 1'08.08, that I thought was decent. Time for the next car!

Looked into the Cuda 6 Pack, and it's specs are 352hp/1418KG, sorry I don't remember the %hp lost to make the 4.0 ratio. Drove it a bit after the Shelby, and was about on top of myself, but not ahead after two laps or so. Gave up kind of early, it did have better grip in braking and turns than the Shelby, so it may have some possible potential?

Then took out the beast of a Chevelle SS, that thing sucked at handling, but was quite the torquer and managed to chop off a couple seconds from the Shelby. Definitely a point and shoot car.

Then followed with the Super Bee, don't remember the specs, but it was a massive porker and couldn't keep up.

Then, the 440 R/T... Oh what a drive. Has traction, actually handles somewhat(normal tires permitting), and is fun. Took me a good while to actually get a clean lap, but it's a good start. It also has a better pwr/wt ratio compared to the others I tried.

30.414
1'04.603

Should have at least another half a second left in it for me by T2 if I spend enough time on it. 2-3 tenths is more likely though by then, and another 2-3 additional by the finish.

Oh, forgot to mention a couple of things.

First of all, my thumb hurts.

Second of all, it's amazing how rude and disrespectful some egoed people can be when displaying their OPINION of things... IMO.

Second of all, it's amazing how rude and disrespectful some egoed people can be when displaying their OPINION of things... IMO.

Aimed at me I see....

Everyone can express their opinion and I never offended anyone saying what I did, so therefore I am in the right.
Becasue IN MY OPINION (Remember, opinions are ones personal thoughts, and aren't always there to knock others opinions) this week is awful.

Full stop.
