Damn male/female stuff. Always gets me on exams...

I'm sticking with the Stingray. The Charger had some interesting 0'31s, but by T2 the Stingray showed how much superior it is :P

I just had a wee go in the Mustang there. It certainly handles well, a lot better than the other options anyway, but it loses too much time to my Charger on the back straight.

:lol: Nevermind Cyril...It was only something that would've resulted in something like this;

****! These ******* cars can't turn for *******!

Trans: Crikey old chap! These cars can't turn for toffee! ;)

Darren.

I'm in two kinds of hell this week!

Hong Kong reverse, in an overpowered skip with wheels, and an antiquated suspension that doesn't let it turn!:ouch:
Hong Kong forward, in an underpowered skip with wheels, and an AWD system that doesn't let it turn!:ouch:

Ah, well might as well get used to it, cos it'll be where I am going, that's for sure!:ill:

Neil:)

Well, I'm even more confused right now. Go search for "toffee"...

Edit : OK, the french for "toffee" is... "toffee".

Any clues on which car each one was? I'll suppose the AWD was either a Subaru, or a Keicar...
Which of the 12 eligible overpowered skips with wheels did you use?

English term, dating back to WWII.

After the war, kids would do anything for a toffee. Even though they were cheap(ish), as they hadn't had any for years what with rationing and such.

Therefore, won't turn for toffee means, they are hard to persuade to turn!

Over-powered skip/reverse, is any of the muscles cars this week....
Under-powered skip/forward, is my Audi TT in the DTM series!

Purgatory!

Neil

Arcade. Street Circuit. N-Tyres! Colby feel like an avatar comp :sly:

Sure, despite the fact you'll serve my rear end to me on a platter :) But it's gotta be a two-weeker, I must have a chance for my rebuttal after you win this week (which we all know will happen :sly:)

@Cyril: Take us to the 'ring next week :sly:

Ok. You're on Colby 👍

I did forget to add last night, I am using the Stingray. If you search a while back through the Long Race Series. You'll find something called the American Muscle Cup. Or something along those lines. Anyway, the C3 Corvette pretty much romped away.

I'd think the newer cars would be generally better. Has anyone tried the 454 yet?

was it kyle that learned us to use MT and stay in 3rd, maybe 2nd?
and who told us to stick to the stingray?

anyway, i tried both and got instant improvement on my lap.

32.629 - 1.08.612

very weird because i'm so used to AT and tcs, now its MT and no aids with ultralow revs for these weird ironers.

nice to get to know this side of car choice as well!
with cyril's car matrix maybe there's more fun to come.

Hey guys,
I'm gonna trip the land mine (because this shouldn't be dropping a bomb for anyone ;) ).

The Corvette Rules (sounds a little fanboyish).

Right now this race is probably more about Traction and Power than Braking and Handling. Of course, the Corvette combines all aspects without suffering great loss in any regard. (sp?)
Handles well and lays down the power even better than the Shelby.
I ran down to low 1'08s and rather quickly, which should be an indincator that more advanced drivers (like wrs regulars) will be able to run the Vette down to mid low 1'04s.
Hope that helps any of the people here who didn't see the vette jump out at them.
Later. :D

Shelby Mustang G.T. 350R '65. Well I just found my car! I love this CAR! I'll have to get some times in tomorrow. Me sleepy, go to bed now. Nite nite.:) (I have a cafein buzz right now, so thats why I'm kind a weird right now.) Oh heck! I'm weird anyway:crazy:

Had a 20 minute run with the Dodge Charger, il probably stick with this car because its too much effort learning multiple braking points and car characteristics etc. Anyways here are my early splits...

T1 - 30.954
T2 - 1'05.107
Finished off with a poor last sector (lost about .5 by the time i crossed the line)

First 15 min session with my lil' 350 Vette '69:

EDIT: My bad, I just threw the weight down to -10% like its says on the first post. I take it we have to match ur hp and weight with the list of 12 approved cars? Just dbl checking. Will post splits soon....I hope, lol.

T1 - :28.636
T2 - 1:01.484
Final DON'T F'ING ASK! I truly lost 1 whole second as soon as I crossed T2....DAMMIT, lolz...good start tho

Jerome

Sure you've got the right power and tyres Jerome?! Those are some mighty quick times after 15 minutes.

Okhere are my T times so far.

T1-31:260
T2-1:05:963

I will give the Vette a try tomorrow and see what I get.
Also next time you think of a race Flat-out could you please replace
"nomal tires" with "sport hard only". The race would be soo much more fun.

First of all, Jerome is definitely using the wrong setup. I can tell you that with 100% confidence... :) He's not that much faster than I in any way, shape or form.
:lol: Nevermind Cyril...It was only something that would've resulted in something like this;

Lol, come on now guys! These cars don't turn nearly as bad as you all make them out to be. Stop blaming the cars for their tires already! :P Put some racing tires on there and I'm sure you'll change your mind right quick. I'm sure they don't handle that great, but the only understeer like that because they don't have TIRES! Come on now, 400hp with bias ply tires that are about as wide as todays 195s or so? Most 400hp cars today have at least 265 series RADIAL tires. So they don't act as poorly in stock trim.
I'd think the newer cars would be generally better. Has anyone tried the 454 yet?
Well, if you read my posts from last night... :P

3rd for most of the turns, some cars/drivers may be able to take the last left kink on the docks in 4th just as well if not better. For the hairpin pretty much every car will work best in 2nd. It's a bit tricky to keep it in the powerband, and get the car pointed straight to get all the way back on the gas(without spinning the inside tire, which=slow), all at the same time. And about the ultralow revs, these engines are biiig, and made lots of low down torque, usually not too much power up top. Definitely something else to keep in mind when shifting gears... 👍

Ahh yes, low to mid '04s will be easy in the Vette I assume. Old timers/aliens should be in mid-lower '02s possibly. And about the Shelby, I'm not so sure it even puts down the power that nicely, it just lacks the midrange punch that the bigger engines have.
(I have a cafein buzz right now, so thats why I'm kind a weird right now.) Oh heck! I'm weird anyway:crazy:
:) Lol, you could partially blame it on the age as well... 👍 Gnight!

I'll start racing here in a bit. I think the Charger(remember, there are TWO of them, and the one you want is the 440 R/T), may still have some decent fight in it left, although maybe not quite as much as the C3 Vette...

Sure you've got the right power and tyres Jerome?! Those are some mighty quick times after 15 minutes.

HHmmm.....perhaps not I just saw the LB...D'OH! Gonna be a long night indeed, sorry guys I should THOROUGHLY read the req's there, now embarassing! :nervous:

Will race with the CORRECT NORMAL TIRES, bummer.

Jerome

That's right biatch! :P Lol.

---

So, just had my first half an hour or so in the C3. Please read:
This car is not in the same class as the others, aside from maybe the Shelby, the other corvette, and the Camaro duo. It's designed from the box as a sports car, not just some big lumbering barge with a big, powerful engine. It is able to MAINTAIN some handling while on Normal tires(also as I've found with the C1 corvette and most likely the C2 as well). You ARE able to turn under braking, and you are able to turn under power. Some of the reason for the ability to turn under power is because this car is NOT geared for the 1/4 mile only, which is the case for the other breadboxes that I've driven thus far(other than the Shelby, which is just geared for short track, but lacks midrange torque from it's smaller engine).

For someone looking to go fast, and not take too much effort, the C3 is your pick. It took me a good while to beat my Charger lap, and I don't think it's clean anyway. The muscle cars are more point and shoot, and try to not let the inside tire spin. The C3 is more of maintain your speed, try not to go too slow(doesn't have the big block torque to overcome it's taller gearing), and try not to slide too much. This car will put it's tail out where the others will spin an inside tire. Although, if you can keep that inside tire from spinning and somehow maintain a similar speed through the turns, the Charger will pull away from the Vette out of them...

That pretty much sums it up? I think I got most of what I wanted to say in there.

Oh yeah, I want to hear about, and possibly try myself, the two Camaros. They're not such a muscle car, but more of a lighter sports car like the Corvette, although built on more of a budget. I don't think they'll be in the top few cars though as they have less horsepower and torque, which means even though they may have a similar pwr/wt ratio, they won't have the same speed at the end of the straights, usually.

Well I"m outta time now today and probably the whole week o well was MUCH funner on the Sports tires anyway because, well its easier what can I say I'm lazy as hell, eh? Laters!

Jerome

Lol, pussay!

Anywho, after further driving of the C3(now .3 faster than my charger, yet still dirty I think), I've come to realize that it indeed has a LSD, unlike the other cars available. That's why the tail out instead of inside wheel spin, not just because it has less midrange torque and taller gearing... 👍

Also, I forgot to mention that my 3rd/4th gear style does not work for this car. This car you use 1st(not full throttle until almost all the way through it though) in the hairpin and the last turn, second for the others, except for third on the docks. 👍

Soooooooo, over an hour and 15 minutes into the C3, and I'm just over 1 second faster at the line than my Charger lap, yet still DIRTY... :indiff:

Then, I hopped into something else...

30.240
1'03.554 :sly::sly::sly:

I'll give you all a day or two to figure out what's up before I spill beans... :dopey:

Definitely appears I need to improve my T1 though, which means my T2 shall improve as well...

what exactly is meant by normal tires?
im confused
There are three categories of tires, Normal, Sports, and Racing. The best tires you can use for this week's race is N3, or Road tires. 👍
