GT4 WRS Week 86: "T Minus 10-9-8..."

Which car are you using? I just lapped the whole field bar 2 on +9 on SS. I'm using the VX maybe the Speedster has a different AI set.

I just used the Speedster and the A.I field consisted mainly of RX-7's and Skylines...not sure on the exact models though.

Will post times after another session...not happy with them yet.

Summing up race changes:
1) 2 cars for the choice
2) strong tyrewear (means we should use harder tyres)
3) we will submit total race time (about 7 minutes) before deadline, and now can discuss best lap times.

Am I right???

Not about 3. The total time, even if approximate, is not allowed to be discussed. Best times neither. Only laps 1, 5 and 9.

Once again, Gingi):

Total time after laps 1, 5, 9? Or splits from laps 1, 5, 9?

And what we will send to Colby at last? Total race time?

I tried it out and found out that there is no any changes with tyrewear, so Shockwaveracing was right. We drive ss tyres that are "green" 80% of the race... So I don't understand why we had changed combo, but it's still good.
The second idea is that leaderboards are random this week.
I just run this race with really good 1, 5 and 9 laps, just a bit behind leader, but other laps were rather bad, so as for me, this type of time compare lies a lot and don't show the real results...

Which is why we do like this in the WRS...Keeps you guessing till the results are posted. ;)

Still not managed to pass all the Artificial Idiots ( Dan) without clattering into at least one of them so no lap times yet but I'm averaging roughly 41.5-42.5...First laps a bit more interesting with the cold tyres now though. :D

Darren.

This is gonna be fun. I'm just breaking into 40s in practice. I have no idea how I'm gonna get around AI

I liked Hugo's idea of submitting 1st lap, slowest flying lap and fastest lap. This would give better indication of the actual speed.
On the other hand I think there has been enough changes. Let's race !

The first race where these idots don't hit my car so the whole race was clear.
L1: 0:47:854
L5: 0:41:714
L9: 0:41:350
Overal: 2:10:918

Thank you for saving me quite a chunk of work updating the thing when I'm on a PC without Colby's tool... I encourage others to add the total time of the 3 laps, too (not necessary, though - that's what Math-lessons are for).

Leaderboard Updated.

So we are suppose to avoid contact with the AI, but what if it just rams us?

I've had several cases now where I am just fine, and then crazy AI car comes flying from somewhere and nails me in the rear or back half of my car. Namely on the big turn before the hair pin where some of them consistently go off and then try to get back onto the "line"

yes TOTALLY clean. Hard to do with the artificial IDIOTS(AI)

DAN:)

Well up in the first post it says "No contact with the AI regardless of fault." I'm assuming that means that's not legal.

Thanks, I didn't notice that -_-;

I've seen a T1 around 47, and other times around 40.7 ish. But its hard for me to cleanly break away from the pack, stupid AI is just... well, stupid.

Thought artificial IDIOTS,,,, was a good pun.:sly:

In the future, I'd rather have the 5 second penalty for contact rather than try to avoid them completely.

it just means you have to try some rather unique ways to get past the AI cleanly, you will be surprised at some of the lines that are possible for overtaking this week... ;)

and the 5 second penalty will just be a pain, coz you will have to deal with the AI for even longer in the race...

Yes, very true. I think I'd rather try to get around them then a penalty.
Ok, I might be able to get a time this week.
I have to make a bunch of pot holders before Xmas, and I just started.
So I have alot to make yet, but I well try to get a time. When I'm taking a brake from pot holder making, I'll take it around a few times.

Laters.

The last time we had a race where we allowed some leniency in AI Contact it was impossible to decide what was acceptable and what wasn't so it is very unlikely I'll ever post a race that has that gray area in regard to contact. I know perfectly clean is tricky but that's part of the challenge 👍

Had another go at this combo earlier on today, but couldn't get a clean run. I find it very hard to get a fast clean opening lap. I don't think i will run this combo again, so I will submit what I achieved yesterday.

T1 - 46.741
T2 - 40.594
T3 - 40.583

Agreed.

To those who are struggling, this may or may not help this week.

If you get DIRECTLY in front of them before a turn, they will normally not rear end you, or try to come around you. If you do NOT hug the inside of the turn, they'll most likely move to the inside and screw you up. Remember, they get on the brakes earlier than we do, and then let off, and then get back on them. In my experience anyway. I haven't toyed with this week's race yet, but that's generally how they "drive".

Once again, if you get directly in front of them, they'll know you're there. And hug the inside line so they don't attempt to get around you and then push you out wide because you didn't think they'd be there. You'll still have to be carefull of all of a sudden cutting them off and then slamming on the brakes. I mean, not even in real life can an accident be avoided if you do that too quickly.

That's true. It will be very hard to understand what type of contact it is, so the whole clean lap is harder to run but it will be easy to watch race replay with such rules.

By the way, what AI do you race with?
I pass 'em at 0 level but maybe +5 or so is better?

Whoaa, the Leaderboard looks weird today.

Mullen, how the heck did you get such similar Laps on 5 and 9? You've beaten Andy by a second, that's quite a feat...

He races in the JGTC where we do multi-lap and tire wear races. I assume he's actually consistent, unlike me where I'm just balls to the wall... Unlike a certain ballstothewall that is. 👍

the times he posted are his first lap, and his fastest 2 laps...
Haha, or maybe that...

I tried for 1,5 hours to get a clean race, but i always have contact with the ai at some point, even if it's just slightly.
I tried to set the ai at -5, 0, +3, +5 and +10, but nothing helps.
On +10 the ai constantly slows you down in the corners and you can't overtake, because they accelerate more quickly.

I almost made it through the race with ai on -5, but i had a bit of contact with 1 car during the second overtaking at 1 of the last laps.

Well, i don't have time anymore to play gt this week, so maybe I'll have a go on the next weekly race,
because the exams will be finished by then.
