:: GT4 WRS Week 87 ::
Well this week I'm addressing a couple of things, firstly a track we've never done and secondly a really grippy car as requested in the suggestions thread. I might also add that I'm off on holidays from 26/12 - 10/1 so your submissions must be sent to Flat-out (Cyril). He has kindly offered to take the reigns while I'm gone which I am infinitely thankful for 👍 So while I sun myself on the beaches of Queensland with the Internet far far away, you guys will be treated to Cyril's brilliance. So for my last race until week 91 it's off to Costa di Amalfi...

Awesome. Cool track. Have we used it since that week with the HPA Golf?! It's been a while.

I think I'll get started on this spooner rather then later.

Yeah we haven't used it since then, bloody tough track though let me tell ya

Well I won my division that week and didn't get it because I didn't have a Maxdrive. I'm taking my title back! I'm starting on this now, be back in a few ticks with some splits guys.

T1 - 27.044
T2 - 59.879
T3 - 1'20.779

I like this track. Will try today or tomorrow if i also like the car :)
Great track for a bit of drifting, but my guess is that's not going to happen with this car?

No chance. To my suprise this car has some horrendous understeer. It might even be faster this week to put a harder compound on the back.

first splits from first clean drive:

29.203 - 1.04.002 - 1.26.975

trying harder back compound now like brad suggests. strange understeer for an FR layout car?

Am i reading that right send Pm to Flat-out? Or is that a typo and should say MisterWeary?

no typo, colby will be away for a bit and cyril is back to watch over wrs again ... good thing!

with brad's advice i set the rear tyres to r4's and topspeed to 200 and chopped off a bundle:

27.456 - 1.02.067 - 1.24.242

i think most seconds can be gained or lost in the first hairpin right after the start. incredibly difficult braking piont there!
metar, luxy please! (or are you burning chanukka stuff again? :) )

26.246
58.607
1'19.502

this thing is a rocketship, and turn-in is bloody good, but damn that start-T1 sector is farken hard work (my arms are buggered, will get back to this later), it is a full on workout from lock to lock, lap after lap, i think the DS2 will have a definite edge this week in the first sector, dunno how much time i have left in it, maybe another second (hopefully)

was using 250 gearing didn't use 6th gear at all

about half up the hill towards the hairpin there are a couple of darker patches of tarmac, brake on/or just before the one closest to the corner...

Board Updated

Bloody quick driving, Steven. I'm gonna race this week, until:

A) My butt turns blue
B) I get thrown out of the house again
C) My PS2 gets DREs on Amalfie (Most likely)

thanks for the work mr. co-steward. if colby hadn't asked cyril i would have had full confidence in you watching over wrs while he was away.

Gingiba
Bloody quick driving, Steven.
i'm sure you mean bloody quick posting rather than driving? :). i consider already losing 1.2 secs after the first 3 turns unquick.

Gingiba
I'm gonna race this week ...
you'd better or otherwise
D) i'll come down there and kick your butt. you are now gonna show that you are div2 material or else a forced degradation will be issued for the first time

Updating splits doesn't make me co-steward
And as a 15-year old with school and family-trouble, I can't really afford the time to do full-time stewarding, at least not now.

Yes, but seeing that those were only ~2-3 hours from the posting of the combo, and loosing 4.7 seconds on a D1 Alien between the start and T3 is bloody quick for D3, seeing that the whole track is one hairpin after the other.

Don't worry. Didn't have DRE's so far...

OK, first notes:
This car, on SuperSofts, handles dream-like. Turn-in is so sharp that I can't really estimate it, and run into the inside of the turn. 200 Gearing causes major redline bouncing... I'm not sure everyone's talking about the same car :
Steven and Brad with the bad handling
Andy and Steven with the gearing...

Can't wait until week 88 :P

I don't run anything softer than R3's. Have fun all who like it

*reads the week 87 note on the door, smiles and enters the room*

Looks like fun Colby, I may have to fire up the ol' ps2 now that Zelda is done :D

Very nice combo, but I'm not sure about my taking part in this. With 2 university exams next week it 'll be very hard to find much free time for this. But I'm very happy with the fact, that we're using good tyres during several weeks. That was exactly a thing I asked Colby for. And it seemed to be suported by others 👍 👍 👍

Well my initial impressions are wow, this car seem's perfect for the track, great combo once again! Here's what I have after 30 minutes:

26.559
59.094
1'20.324

Improvements definitely to come, just so long as I don't fail miserably on first 2 turns.

Edit:

Now seen a 26.192 for T1.

0'27.356
1'01.332 (Crappy hairpin right after T1)
1'23.372 (Series of crappy corners on the downhill chase)

Word. Brad, I'll see if I can give you any competition. I have a lot of other stuff on my boat as well though, so we'll see...

Maybe I won't have to work today either... :( Oh man do I need money!

I love this car and it makes this track seem easy. Thank you so much for the grippy tires 👍

After about 15 laps with top speed 250, no aids, DS2, R5s all around, Div2

27.054
59.958
1'21.072

I love this track and will give it a run later. Though I think these are way too grippy of tires. You almost don't learn about the car with Super Softs on, as they are so grippy.

Should be neat to see what I can pull on this track though.

I agree, I've always thought of super soft race tires on GT4 as the 'cheater tires' as they're way too grippy to represent anything real.

👍 👍 👍
Couldn't ask for a better race.
Great pick for many reasons. Grip, handling, curves and turns, hills, bumps, walls, and more turns... Just a great pick. 👍

Most of all though, what I like about this race so much is this... It's a good hotlap that was a suprise.
Suprises suck when they aren't good but this is a great suprise and I'm happy to see you went with this one Weary. Hell, just look at how many replies there are this early in the threads life.

Remember to keep it clean fellas, this is a gonna be a tough one. :mischievous: :sly:

Uh-huh. I can see another 0.7 at least on the T1 sector - only problem is actually performing three perfect hairpins. I made a pretty good T1-T2, but messed up T3 so bad, that Steven gained a whole second on me there. It's a battle of consistency during the lap.

On another note, this car with R4s on the rear handles like an old-school rally-car on tarmac. The rear swings out a little (no drift, just a little oversteer), and the snap when they regain grip is just brilliant. God, this thing drives like god on earth, and sounds like one, too.

After a quick 4 or 5 lap run I managed 1'21.8. :indiff:
With a week of practice I expect to run down towards 1'20.??? or lower (hopefully) although it's going to be really hard.

Btw, the fact that I just bought Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 and Tiger Woods 2005 for the Xbox is going to make my game time with Gran Turismo much more limited but much more intense as well.

Looking forward to a fun week.

Update in splits. Oh how I'm starting to love this...

EDIT: Again, I think I should just stop posting splits until I'm done, but I just never assume I'm going to keep improving like this, If only I could put it all together... considering my fastest t1 was 26.083.

26.429
58.713
1'19.577
