Damn James, very nice 👍 I'm way behind btw, a few 1.06.1xx and a few 58.0xx and one 57.9xx, you must share your set up and how you are launching.

Erik

Yep, time to spill your beans James! :-P Turns out I'm going to the mountain tomorrow so I won't have time to play until late sunday evening probably... :)

Just don't get stuck like the last people who went up a mountain.
I tryed it today. I got hit every time I tryed to race. I have replay of me picking on the AI:mischievous::lol:.
I was doing really good to Darn it!!(I would like to sware, but I'll hold it):D
Laters.

Sammy.:D

Yeah, Mt. Hood Meadows P-Town Boyyyy!!!! I went last weekend to go boarding, I'm not very good yet but I'm getting better :) Have fun man! Oh, and I'd try this one but its not up my alley, have fun Sammy and Nice splits James!

Come on man, just stick it with the stock suspension and you'll do fine. All the tuning you'll need to do is adjust the gear ratios!!! :-P

And actually, we're going to Bachelor! Shame I don't have any money to actually spend. There's like 20 some of us going to fit into a 5 bedroom place in sun-river(I think?). So it'll be dirt cheap to stay there overnight a couple nights for me, like $25. I'll maybe play in the snow a bit, but I sadly won't be going up the lift and snowboarding down! :( Hopefully someone'll let me play on their board a bit somewhere lower though so I don't have to pay... We'll see! I actually am going to bring the PS2 as I think I may be stuck in the cabin when no one else is once or twice. We'll see, won't know until I'm there! :) No internet though as far as I know of.

just got done flogging it in free run till i could get at least four 58 second T3's in a row. exited out to find i was down to 385 hp. haha. anyway i re-upped the oil and gave the actual race a go. here's what i came up with.

L1/T3: 1'09.387
L2/T3: 58.473
L3/T3: 58.702

not happy with the first lap but i cant be bothered. repulsive AI. try again next week.

I actually came to the same conclusion as Kyle about the setup - less you mess with it the better.
Very demanding combo, took me a while just to break into 57s

Ok, for WHO KNOWS what reason, I sat down to play this. Tried out GTVault's setup, then tweaked it a bit, and my version might be better, might not be.

No time to post it right now, but I wanted to pop in that TCS doesn't hurt too much this week

I'm running 2.5 final drive, with auto gearing set to 8. For the launch(without TCS) I hold the throttle as CLOSE to full throttle as I can, and then give it full throttle a bit after the rpms drop. Play with it a bit to find the best spot. With the M5 starting up front, I can pass everyone else and then pass the M5 somewhere before during or after the T1 marker.

With TCS on(1), you can just floor it and have pretty much the exact same result. When I ran TCS, I used the LSD 5/5/5, without the TCS on I run 5/10/5. Any less than 10 for LSD Accel can give you a tad more wheelspin than you'd like when clipping corners and in the tight hairpin. At a minimum, I'd run 8 for LSD Accel. If you have a DFP, you can probably get away with even less. For me, 9 or 10's fine. Remember, the lower your LSD Accel is, the better your car will turn under power...

And, James, I NEED to see your setup. I'm not seeing those 56.xs that I thought I did before. I may be able to with more time, well, probably can, I can see more time in the long sweeper, just getting it's a bit hard, but otherwise, you're doing something that most of us aren't.

Sadly, I won't have the internet(I think) for the next three days, so I won't be able to keep you guys up to date on what I'm doing, nor find out what you guys are up to.

GOOD LUCK!

EDIT: I see most people are still stuck in the 57s and above, so I guess I'll do a clean race and post my splits. Back in a sec... :)

hi, i will try some of ur settings out!

but im just running 0/0/1 on tcs, just to get no wheelspin on second gear while launching! and i have all car before first turn! and gets a 1'5,7** 1stT3,

but figured out that tcs is slowing me down almost a second on the laps! good in start but not on track, So now i have a setup without tcs and still launches in 2nd with no wheelspin and still takes them:):sly:

SKEEEREEEEEEWWWW IT!

I should not have started playing tonight.

Damnit.

No clean race that I'm happy with yet.

James, you NEED to post your full setup, your gearing, where you're shifting, any tricks you've found(:P), and most importantly, your T times. For T1 and T2 I mean!

On the first lap I've seen a best of 1'06.1xx at T3. For laps two and three I think the best I've seen at T3 is a 57.6? And probably average 57.8ish.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? Damn I got caught up in this combo at the WRONG time. sheeeit, still haven't done what I need to get done tonight. So much for even a decent amount of sleep tonight. :grumpy:

You're probably not racing against the M5 then, or it's at least stuck behind traffic. If he's in traffic I think I can see myself being in front of them all by the first turn now... Still, that only gets my T3 on the first lap into the 1'05 range. What about laps two and three?

the m5 is starting at 3rd grid! and he is behind me when turn comes! i realy need to maintain the speed through the corner not getting he in my rear bumper! but the m5 is there for sure:)

This seems like a very difficult combo to get a handle on. My best times are not much better than the first clean times.

Maybe it's just me, but I just have no feel for what is happening - I'll be on what seems like a good lap and post a high 59:xxx and some other time a mediocre time will yield a low 57:xxx. It makes no sense that I can't feel the two and a half second difference. :dunce:

I'll add my two cents to the starting linup / launch discussion. I am using tranny trick, autoset at 1, first gear as long as possible, fourth through sixth as short as possible and third somewhere in the middle to optimize getting through the esses with final drive in the high 3.xxx range yielding redline at the end of the straight. With this I pass all cars before the first turn when the lineup has the M Coupe in first and the M5 in (I think) third (the M Coupe and M5 bump into each other on the straight).

xactly same line up as i! they keep on pushing eachother lettin me pass freely on inside!

well fi-fa-finally i got passed AI cleanly. i already started to give up hope. i have read 2078's remarks and picked the coupe=1 startup grid and set the gears to his advice, but then i changed first gear to shortest possible rather than longest with final at 3.7.
then i got so flabbergasted that i totally forgot how to get around quickly :ouch: so here it is ...

1.08.895 - 1.01.295 - 1.02.072 - 3.12.262

hopefully much better t3's to come, but i am still waiting for james' return on his gearing and chassis settings!

I will get that before you get back:). This week is weird.

Nice gearing setup up James, iv been try lots of different one and have found one that i like but maybe third needs gearing down a little on mine thou.
your good at this Gt Mode :)

post my gearing up later

Gave it a whirl for a half hour and got some low 57's but not really my cup of tea here, have fun!

Jerome

Hey people! Back and better than ever (bar the 10+ weeks without GT4 :P) and I think it's on the up, so I should be able to visit WRS far more often, and participate regularly again :) . This week looks awesome - the CSL is my all time favourite GT4 car so who knows... ;) .
Catch y'all later!

Angel, I tried your tranny setup against mine in the 400M and 1000M test, I was about 4-5 tenths faster than you to the 400M, after that things were about equal, however, with just moving your second gear ratio up I was able to run pretty close to my times.

I start in second gear, and run about 12.0XX in the 400M, the trick is to start about half throttle in second gear, and then hammer it when you start moving, this is faster than launching at WOT with a super tall second gear. Not that I need you to get any faster....but you can pick up half a second by just shorting second gear. 👍 Your brake settings are better than the stock 3/3, but I haven't tried your suspension settings out on the track yet.

I didn't even install an LSD, as I think the factory one is fine for this amount of power, has anyone tested the stock LSD against a custom one?

thanks james a BUNCH for posting your settings: great handling suddenly! improved my race time by almost 2 seconds with only 2 efforts.

1.08.757 - 1.00.300 - 1.01.489 - 3.10.546

grid was with coupe - m3 - m5 - gtr - csl - me.

ps. one of the updaterers must've made a typo 'cos the 3xt3 time in luxy is now at 3.10.262 while it shoulda been 3.12.262 before my update above ...

still gotta try the settings metar and michael have sent me by msn ... cos i need to get from DLBF this week - joel here i come sooner and faster than you think :)

Used James's set up too. It is AWSOME! Car drives well too, never thought dampers set that low all around would still give good weight transfer. And I had passed the AI before the first turn. It is quick!! Got a scorcher compared to my other race times.

t1-1.08.100
t2-1.00.076
t3-59.881

THANKS JAMES,,,,,,,,,,, DAN

I used james's setup to.:D Seeing how he won't let me setup my own car:grumpy:.
Any who. Here the best T times I can pull. I don't like this week one bit.
Lap1-T3-1'12.281
Lap2-T3-58.255
Lap3-T3-59.377
I'm going to submit this. So I'll most likey get my butt kicked this week. But hey, this is the first WRS I've done with AI, I don't care if I win or not.
Laters:D:crazy:.

Sammy:lol:.
PS. Does anyone know who we'er suppose to send are times to?
I don't want to send it to the wrong person.

Well, I guess we have some wireless here in our cabin! (I'll have to take pictures of this place, it's BIG PIMPIN!)

And man, I will have to give some of your settings a try. I think I've figured out some things today that don't necessarily agree with some of your settings, but seriously, I freaking hate GT4's settings! Don't make an ounce of sense most of the time. I don't know how they had it so right in the past and got it all this wrong now. :grumpy:

Hopefully by late tomorrow night I'll have some splits faster than yours, James... :)
