GT4 WRS Week 91: "Time to Nurburg it up!"

inferno
heres hoping i manage to pull a "nightmarehunter" this week.

Ha ha very funny. I didn't think I'd beat people like that. I wasn't even trying to win in my div.

Now I'll have to race to see if I can even keep up, because I hate this track.
(sorry, don't feel all that good today) Laters.

Sammy.

Week 89 Results, I can't find them, did I miss something?

Jerome

they havent been posted yet. i really wish they would hurry up. i wanna see how well i did. :sly:

[EDIT]
just hammered out a new clean run that matches the final time of the splits in my last post. i lost time in about a dozen places that i can see by being just a bit off the line. i'm happy with this time but if i give it annother go i think i can knock off maby annother second.

[EDIT2]
I did it. :sly:

just beat my old time by TWO SECONDS. i almost lost it in the big sweeper before the carousel but nope it's clean. I'm verry happy with this time. It wasnt perfect by any means but i honestly dont think i could do any better. anyway, new splits:

T3: 1'57.151
T6: 4'08.724
T9: 6'16.013

New times;
T3 1:56.693
T6 4:05.608
T9 6:09.738

Pretty happy with the second sector (T3 to T6) which is only .5 second behind the best time for this sector. Have also done T3's around 1:56.1xx
so it's T6 to the end that I need to work on now.

Bit of trivia... Who originally gave it the name "The Green Hell"?

I believe it was Phil Hill.....................whats my prize?

Also, new splits:

T3: 1:55.555
T6: 4:04.955
T9: 6:15.303

Unfortunately this wasn't a completely clean lap so it wont be submitted. Plus, I have yet to really learn the track after T3 so I've got tweaking to do before Tuesday.

I haven't tried it yet. And I most likey won't.
I have other stuff to get done. But if I have some time to get a lap or two in, I'll try it. Laters.

Sammy:D.
PS. Nice split's inferno:tup:, keep it up.

It was Jacky Stewart. :sly:

I'll be back with some splits should I end up getting a chance to run this one. :D

Edit:
Took a moment to run some laps... Managed to start one (very first) and got about half way.
Started over with a second lap and completed it, went straight into a third and completed that... Third lap was clean and fun.

6'08.9?? T9

Fun car, great grip levels and nice engine. Definately fun. 👍
I must admit though, lately I've been running the M5, all stock on N2's and the braking distances are a world apart. :banghead:
Doesn't take long to get used to the ASL though. :sly:

Quite correct there Kent!

Mind you, only a 30 second search in the 'wiki' found that one!:D

Have ran a few laps myself, for a little light relief from the JGTC qualifying 'hell' that Eats has created. No creditable splits yet, but will be putting in a showing this week. (RL permitting)

Neil

PS. Nice split's inferno:tup:, keep it up.

heh heh. Losing to you last week has certainly lit a fire under me to give 100% this week. I thank you for that.

Judging by 2078TM's times i'm loosing allot between T6 and T9. looks like i'm not done with this week just yet. :)

Those are some nice time's:tup:, keep that up and you will be in div2 soon;).

Edit:

LeaderBoard

Lol thanks. i'd almost rather stay in division three. if i move to division 2 I'll never win. :scared:

and on that note, new splits:

T3: 1'56.648
T6: 4'08.905
T9: 6'14.771

On the big sweeper that you have to slow down a tiny bit for, (just lifting, no breaks) right before T6, i used to be able to cruise through there and maintain about 6k rpm in fifth, but now i cant seem to do it any more, i just fly off. lately i've been having to take it at about 4500 rpm. i dont know whats going on there but i know loosing that speed is hurting my laps big time. tis the way of things i suppose. At any rate, i'm super happy with my progress and what i've learned this week, a track i previously had trouble geting all the way around without crashing. :)👍

I have been taking this corner with 100% throttle, I don't have the skill to do it all the time though. You need to turn in a little bit early and cut the corner as much as possible without making the lap an invalid one...which is easier said than done. I can only do that about 1 out of every 3 attempts, which becomes very frustrating after a while.

Not even lifting off? ok, well thanks for that. i shal give this a try.

Sure you would, look at me, when I got to div2 I couldn't win eather.
But look at me now, I can keep up really good now:). So don't be afraid.

LeaderBoard

Am I doing a good job at updating the leaderboard?
Please tell what you people think:nervous:.

lol i've never seen it updated so fast. fine job man fine job.

i do wish i was still in div 2. it's amazing, when all the new people came in with the switch to GT4, how many of them were faster than me. thats partialy why i gave up, but i'm glad i gave it annother go, loving every second of this. every tenth of a second even. :P

After 2 hours on this one:

T3: 1'55.055
T6: 4'03.058
T9: 6'04.358

Lost a lot of time from T9 to T10, there's probably another second that should be off my final laptime. Also, I used RM on the back to drift some of the corners more easily.

Nice combo MisterWeary, and sorry to see you relinquish the job.

Time submitted soon after this post.

Kent

👍 Oh yeah, one of my favourite combos, I've been meaning to post a "Ring-Taxi" Challenge in the spot race forum. :)

That would be nice, but the leaderboard is updated alot so it's just easier to put in the post that it's update too.

LeaderBoard
Well, just putting the link up in the first post every week would be udated the same as all the new links you post. I can click on old links and they're still updated the same way as the new one. Actually, I was thinking maybe Colby could put it in his sig?

It's fine the way they do it. If it's in the first post, then you have to go back to the first page every time you want to look at the leaderboard. The way they do it now, there's a link to the leaderboard on almost every page, and we're notified when they update it. If you want, you can always have a link in your browser to the page for the quickest access.
Ummm, Do you mean SM? It's SS tires or harder.
Yes, as there's no way to put RMs on the car in arcade mode.

The reason I originally suggested this is that to find the leaderboard now you need to scroll through the posts until you find it - in some cases there have been as many as three pages of posts since the last leaderboard link.

I just don't understand the desire to keep a method that requires you to hunt for the information and how this can in any way be easier than a single click to the first page of the thread where you would always find the leaderboard.

By the way, maybe it wasn't clear in my original post, my suggestion is to have the link in the first post in addition to what is cuurently done, not as a substitution for it.

Neil

I can't say that's the case.
Actually, I got my info from a recently downloaded 131mb documentary sanctioned by BMW of North America.
Definately a great video if you can find it... 22 minutes of stories from enthusiast, locals, historians, and drivers (not to mention tons of great on-board video).

The video was pretty much designed as a tourist attraction sales pitch. They give you the price of the toll (16 euros) as well as the price of a ride with Sabine in the taxi (180 euros).

In any case, it's a great video to watch if you can find it. 👍

Also, VTRacing,
I agree that a Ring Taxi spot race would be cool but at the moment there is that old Stock Production Cars On N2s at the Ring thread... That was the base for my interest in the combo and now I race all sorts of laps that fall into that thread (but I never post them because races with "stock" weight don't sit right with me when it comes to OLR). :ouch:

Everytime I get some decent splits I manage to find a new way to mess up a lap. I get caught out by a corner that I never messed up before.

Just seen 1'55.4

I'm still struggling to match my dirty T9 time (6'04.713). I am having the same problem as CRXnut, always finding a new place to stuff up...
