Wow, I made it into the Top 20 of my Division (2).

Am I good or what? ;) :D

Too bad I am 20th

Well, it looks like I will have to put way more effort into Week 2, if I want to reclaim my "middle pack" spot...

The Wizard.

Now that is one fine and profesional looking leaderboard, thanks flat-out for the hard work that you have put into the board. You know the best thing about it is that I on it woho!

I updated the board with the final corrected data. Thanks to CFM for that.
Sorry for those who disappeared from the board due to forgotten drivers popping in.

Concerning the official/unofficial status, thanks for your support mates, I really appreciate that, but there is no emergency about it.
We've just finished week 1, on a new game, with a new organizer, and even the board is brand new. Official or not, it's based on official results (as one of you mentions) and most of you seem to like it and find it useful.
That's enough I think.

Just let everything settle down, and let CFM see in the future if he finds it an appropriate reward to call this the 'official WRS leaderboard'.
Of course I'd truly appreciate, but removing the 'un' prefix on the board logo really doesn't matter that much.

Wow, I got promoted from 20th to 18th 👍

I noticed the following, in the Result thread, flat-out, and I thought you might want to fix it:

Kent

Division 2 (D2)
[...]
1'51.479 StrokerAce
1'51.575 Spleenster
1'51.409 shigspeed
[...]

shigspeed needs to be placed in front of StrokerAce.

Corrected, thanks Wizard.

Dang, I made #21 in Div.2,1 spot from the leaderboard, that's what I get for waiting till 10:00 Sun. night to start. Been working much harder this week, hope it shows. There are some pretty smokin sector times posted.

You missed it for 0.093 sec. :(
Which made me wonder what I'd do if 2 drivers once run the exact same time. Standard racing rules would imply that the first to submit his time scores the points. But I don't have access to the submission date and hour, so actually I think I'll grant the same amount of points to both drivers.

Looking at how many competitors the new WRS is attracting and looking at how tight this week's race seems to be, there may be chances of this happening.

Which brings me to this question:

Say the leaderboard is fine for the first 9 positions (everybody has a different time), then two racers enter the same exact time (which would place them in the 10th spot, would it be just one racer entering it), are you going to put both of them at the 10th spot, therefore making the immediately following time the 12th?

Visual aid (;)):

9th Aaa - 1'49.560
10th Bbb - 1'49.725
10th Ccc - 1'49.725
12th Ddd - 1'49.855

Or would it be like the following:

9th Aaa - 1'49.560
10th Bbb - 1'49.725
10th Ccc - 1'49.725
11th Ddd - 1'49.855

?

Just curious... :D

EDIT: I would go with the first option, as this is how it's done in many sports - but the choice is up to you, of course.

The Wizard.

No choice other than 9 / 10 / 10 / 12 seems logical to me.
So it could only lead to 21 racers scoring if 20th position racers run the same time.

I remember the first time it happened in Formula 1. That was at that Grand Prix when Schumacher tried to push Villeneuve's car in the grass and ended up destroying his front right suspension (1997 I think, but can't remember the track).
Well, 3 pilots had qualified with exactly the same time.

Btw Wizard, do you have a first name or do we have to keep calling you Wizard ?
... Gandalf ? :D

Kolyana

flat-out
I was planning to call him that way if he didn't answer to my previous post.
You just ruined the surprise effect. :dopey:

You guys are killing me :D

Yeah, "The" sounds good... And "Wizard" would be my second name... LOL

Jokes apart (;)), my name is Matteo (equivalent to Matthew in English).

Guess I should add it to my profile...

EDIT: I guess that, if we are all getting personal (j/k), this entitles me to call you Cyril, from now on, right? ;)

The Wizard.

Oh no . Anyone remember Meteo? I don't know if you were around for that ;).

Nope. I only joined in January (the 4th, to be precise).

But, please, do not call me that :D

Meteo means weather, in Italian

I should have probably not said that, as now everybody is going to start calling me like that, on purpose ;)

The Wizard.

To make a long story short, a very fast driver made up the name Meteo and entered the WRS. He made up an elaborate story and in the results thread someone discovered who he was and a bunch of people came down on him hard. It was a good time though :D.

I see. I think I have actually heard of this before.

Wish I would have been there to witness it, I am sure it would have been pretty fun :D

Nicknames are fine but when people have been around for a while, or when we've talked (er... written) a lot, I prefer to use their real name. It becomes more personal and more 'honest' I find : masks fall down.
Ok, calling NielsG 'Niels' and sjaak68 'Sjaak' is not a big change (sorry mates for taking you as examples) but calling Sphinx 'Jerry', Smallhorses 'Nick, Small_Fryz 'Dion', CFM 'Todd', Mojo_Rising 'Chris' or tuff240 'Patrick' makes things more personal.
Next step will be to call TheWizard (noticed : no space ;) ) 'Matteo', Kolyana 'Natalya' and icemanshooter 'Ben'. If no one matters of course.
And I'd rather be called 'Cyril' which is my real name than 'flat-out' which sounds a little bit more stupid each time I think about it (I'll have to upgrade to GTPremium to change it some day).

BTW, Meteo "stroke" on the Christmas race, not long before you joined Matteo, and you can read the whole story here for the main thread and here for the results and epilog.

[...] <--- Lots of good stuff, that makes completely good sense

I agree completely with you, flat-out...

j/k

Sorry, I just had to be stupid, Cyril.

But, yeah, I do agree with you.

And as a matter of fact I picked up really quick and starting calling you with your real name in Week 2 thread, even before you said what you said ^

Anyway, thank you for the linkages 👍
I am off to check them out right now - hopefully it will be an entertaining reading :D

The Wizard. <--- I still like signing me with my "fake" name, though. It's a habit: I signed all my posts since the day I joined. Don't want to quit now - it's like a tradition (yeah, I know, more weirdness...)

Small_Fryz
Thats to be expected from you Mathew (can i just use your english version?).

LOL :D

Yeah, you know, I like being stupid sometimes.
I can't always play the part of the "know it all grown up mature and serious" (note the fine print) 25 year old that I am, now, can I? ;)

That would be Matthew, though, with two T's (here I am again, know it all :D)

But I'd much rather you called me with my Italian name (you even save one key stroke 👍 )

So, yeah, I prefer Matteo, Dion.

EDIT: Just finished reading the two linkages you provided me, Cyril. That was some funny stuff 👍 Best prank ever. Ron fell right into the sack  (hope you don't mind me using your real name, since we are discussing this - and hope you don't mind me laughing (just a little, I promise) at you ;))

The Wizard.

tuff240 'Patrick'
Glad you posted that, I was too embarassed to ask.

Seriously though, I'm TERRIBLE with names. :boggled:
If I know your real name and use your GTP name, then it's only because I don't want to insult you by mis-spelling or mixing up your name with someone else's. :dunce: :embarrassed:

amazing job on the leaderboard, greatly appreciated~ :D

i had a suggestion tho~ seeing that this week the times have been soooo jumbled it would create a good battle between drivers in different divisions.

But with the way the points system is now how the divisions are divided this is not possible

so as a suggestion, a mixed leaderboard would look great too!~

Most likely your too b-z too do this, but it would be awsome~

lots of name talk, my name is Ashley, i also prefer being called by my name 👍

but either way i dont mind ;)

Mr P
Damn archives! :yuck:

:dopey:

Damn search function you mean !
It took me 10 seconds to find the thread by searching posts from Meteo.
:)

@ GT Fan :
Ashley from Brighton, England, Europe, The world, Solar System, Milky Way, Universe 1 or simply Ashley ?

@ Hot604boi (sorry, I never remember which letters are uppercase and which ones are lowercase) : the GT3 WRS leaderboard was mixed since it was only based on the lap time. Only div1 drivers were scoring the big points, and div2 or div3 drivers were fighting hard too but only to get a few points in the end.
I want to experiment something where all drivers are fighting for something they can reach : a division win.
