I know we get alot of threads asking 'whats the best car' and we probably get a few saying 'whats the worst' but today im asking, whats the car that shouldnt have been in GT4.???

You dont need to pick one car, pick as many as you want and explain why they shouldnt have been included in the GT4 line-up, were not necessarily discussing the worst car, but the car thats just....usuless.

For me:

Seat cupra - WHY! Why would they only have 1 seat? Surely they should have included the old leon, and the oldskool Toledo would have been great, theres no need for just one seat. Its pointless!

MK4 golf GTI - you have the MK1 , which is a brilliant handling car, and the MK V, which is bowel losseningly quick when you need it to be, then why do we need this MK4? Its not the most powerful GTI, its not the lightest, or the prettiest. Its just pointless.

Formula 1 car - sorry. But theres no point, it obliterates the times for any track, and most of us will never get one. as soon as theres a challenge which is open season for cars, some spanner has to come along in the F1 and set an unbeatable time. Its stupid, in real life theyre not that much faster and the 908 RC, or the bentley speed 8. Its just pointless.

Feel free to share! :scared:

I can feel this thread is about to close, since there's been scores like it before.

But, I'll add my list:

Fiat 500... sure, it's a crappy car and we all knew how it handled, and it's fun to drive, but do we really need 3 different models that handle the same way? Take two out and add some more of the cooler ones!

Honda Element... even under RTST tuning, I can't get it past 192 kph in La Sarthe... and that's in 2nd gear! 1st gear goes up to 140 kph and I've never even tried 3rd and 4th. It's heavy as an elephant and handles like crap.

You complain when they give more "useless" Golfs, but then you want them to give more "useless" Seats...

PD can't even please you. What chance have they got trying to please everyone?

Its stupid, in real life theyre not that much faster and the 908 RC, or the bentley speed 8. Its just pointless.
Far be it for me to defend the F1 (as I don't think they should be in the game at all), but a real F1 can lap Silverstone 10 seconds a lap faster than a 908 (2007 - 908 - 1'30.935, Kimi's F1 2007 - 1'20.638) Over a one and a half minute lap, that's hugely faster.

Yeah it might close. But while it's open...
I hate the Nike, it IS a nice car, but you can't race with it, it has 8 gears, and it's untunable! There's also the Lister storm V12...when was the last time it was mentioned? A Gillet Vertigo has almost half the weight, and more power, for 500k less!

@daan - I know im too difficult to please ;)

I just never saw the point in the MK4 GTI, but i would be more than happy to drive an oldschool Toledo, they are fantastic cars in reality.

That is a big gap, i guess your right about that, but i still believe the F1 cars are just impossible to cath unless you have another F1 car, GT racing should be close. Sometimes i will detune a modified car on the ame just so i find myself in the middle of the pack. With an F1 its impossible to have a fair race, especially with challenges on the forum.

@mcsqueegy - when i first got the nike i thought 'OH YES!' I thought it would be great on the track, it was rubbish, i dont see the point in these weird concept type carsm apart from the suzuki one of course ;)

I remember using the gillet vertigo in the GT world championship, with nothing but an oil change it ran rings around the Le mans type cars, but it was a handful on the twisties though!

the 50+ skylines that don't need to be there.
the 15+ supras that need not be there.
You get my point

everything serves a purpose. even the kei cars aren't a bad trip around the ring sometimes. but why oh why do i need 50+ versions of one car? of which, perhaps two dozen handle, and feel the same? why PD...why?

thats so true, we should only have 2 normal road skylines in the nissan mnu, like the normal v-spec gr, and the N1, because i do love that car.

And ive never driven a supra on the game. Must do that sometime...

It's for people like me who got bored and started treating the used car lots like Pokemon. I kinda had fun seeing which cars I could get my hands on. Of course, this came about because there weren't enough racing events for me to sink my teeth into, but that's a different discussion altogether.

If the Skylines were to be cut down a bit, there would still be a need for these ones as they're all noticably different from each other:

Nissan SKYLINE 1500Deluxe (S50D-1) 1963
Nissan SKYLINE 2000GT-B (S54A) 1967
Nissan SKYLINE 2000GT-R (KPGC110) 1973
Nissan SKYLINE COUPE 350GT 2003
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R32) 1989
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R33) 1997
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R34) 1999
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R34) 2000
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R M-spec (R34) 2001
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R M-spec Nur (R34) 2002
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R N1 (R32) 1991
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R N1 (R33) 1995
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Vspec (R32) 1993
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Vspec (R33) 1997
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V-spec (R34) 1999
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Vspec II (R32) 1994
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V-spec II (R34) 2000
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V-spec II N1 (R34) 2000
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V-spec II Nur (R34) 2002
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Vspec LM Limited (R33) 1996
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Vspec N1 (R32) 1993
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V-spec N1 (R34) 1999
Nissan SKYLINE GTS25 Type S (R32) 1991
Nissan SKYLINE GTS-R (R31) 1987
Nissan SKYLINE GTS-t Type M (R32) 1991
Nissan SKYLINE Hard Top 2000 RS-X Turbo C (R30) 1984
Nissan SKYLINE Hard Top 2000 Turbo RS (R30) 1983
Nissan SKYLINE Hard Top 2000GT-R (KPGC10) 1970
Nissan SKYLINE SEDAN 300GT 2001
Nissan SKYLINE SEDAN 350GT-8 2002
Nissan SKYLINE Sport Coupe (BLRA-3) 1962

And these ones could be dropped:

Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R32) 1991
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R33) 1995
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R33) 1996
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Special Color Midnight Purple II (R34) 1999
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Special Color Midnight Purple III (R34) 2000
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Vspec (R33) 1995
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R Vspec (R33) 1996
Nissan SKYLINE GTS-t Type M (R32) 1989

Now, I can hear people screaming "but they all handle the same way!" but no, they don't. There's definitely a difference between the R32 Vspec and the R32 VspecII, for example. And the R32 Vspec N1 is different still.

Even the different model year cars I've put into the unnecessary list indeed are different in their handling and performance but one trim level of a single generation is enough if there are no big technical differences between the years. The only ones that are truly not needed are the Midnight Purple models.

15 Supras? Let see.

The majority of those Supras are race cars. Only 4 or 5 are road cars. Infact there should be MORE Supras. TRD3000GT anyone? :sly:

GT4 gives you this many cars so you have a choice. What if I owned a '91 R32 GT-R and wanted one ingame? If there wasn't one I'd be ticked off. Same for any car.

Yes there is choice in the game, but only for some cars, lets look at real world cars, which belong to the average young guy, the target audience for GT, so, were looking a hatchbacks and such, where are they? Wheres the saxo's the older clio's and corsa's, and am i the only one on the planet that would like to see a few 1.1 hatchbacks? Imagine tuning them, they would be proper little 'pocket rockets'.

Theres plenty of variety, but not on all cars.

My vote for useless cars mostly includes race cars, considering the obvious about repeats of Skylines etc. and special cars. The special cars are often fun to drive, at least, especially the Caterham. But what use does, say, the Honda Gathers Drider Civic have? It's an FF "race car" - you can't use it for much. The JGTC500 cars do mostly handle differently, but I still don't think they need to include all of them. It's still really not even a challenge to beat e.g. a Tom's Supra with an Arta NSX.

Any of the cars you win as prizes but can't drive in a race. Caterham....Nike....Jay Leno Tank Car....Prowler. 👎

Don't get me wrong, I think they're awesome (especially the Caterham and Prowler), and PD included them in the game rather than leave them as hidden cars or scrapping them altogether, but for all intents and purposes they're also useless. This is old news, of course. I'm not saying anything we haven't heard many times before.

BTW, the you mis-spelled the word "useless" in the title of this thread.

hhaha so i did!

I agree with you on the prize cars, when i first started playing GT4 i got so annoyed at these cars that you couldnt sell, it was unbelievable.

But then i found the special conditions hall, and ALAS! Car selling heaven!

I think you guys are forgetting 3 of them. The benz patent motor wagen, the other old MB and the model T. Those things do not belong in a racing game unless you are racing snails.

i dont know about you, but racing on 2 player, model T vs the benz patent, was incredibly fun, make it 1 lap round the 'ring, technically thats an endurance race!

I can see both sides of the coin.

On one side, they are basically useless. I'm not sure if it's possible to race these in 2-player mode, because if it's not possible, then they're TOTALLY useless.

On the other hand, I believe they were placed in the game partially for promotional purposes, partially because they wanted to make this edition of GT a sort of historical encyclopedia, and finally because now PD gets to say they made the first videogame with the world's first drive-able passenger cars. Bragging rights.

...but they're still useless.

Fixied...I mean, fixed.

I drove the Element in stock form, and I thought my controller was broken after about 10 seconds. Then I realized I was trying to down-shift into 0th gear.

At least you can race it, tune it, shift gears yourself, and get up to 80 miles an hour...unlike several other cars.

The Daimler Motor Carriage. It can barely get over 11mph going DOWNHILL!!!!! I mean, what are we going to do with 1bhp?

Those 2 futuristic cars, we can't race them, so why put them in the game? Same goes for the Model T.

P.S.- You spelled useless wrong in the title. Just pointing it out.

Actually it's still msipeled. I mean mis-spelled. Unless "usless" is an actual word.

...been under a little stress there with the toddler, eh?

ahhh! My spelling is the curse of this thred....

ermmm..

thread.

wahey!

Point is, im loving the things you guys are coming up with, i pretty much agree with most of you, it seems there is alot of dislike towards the patent motor wagon, and the model T, which is understandable, the point of this game is to go very fast, around a track...alot. And with a 1bhp car thats not exactly, desirable!

Also people dont seem to like the more futuristic, unvalued, unraceable concept cars that arent that fast and look like an extra from dr. who.....cant see why you wouldnt LOVE IT!

The Escudo, because the kind of race it was designed for isn't in the game. Also it has the worst turbo lag AND the worst turbo boost.

This is Gran Turismo, not Halfords.

I'm kidding, GT4 doesn't have those awful kits people put on those cars. :yuck:

What GT really needs are Ford Cosworths. Sierra, Sapphire, Escort and the often forgotten Scorpio. I'd put high bets on the Cossie's whooping the butts of the usual Japanese saloon gang. :sly:

The Escudo isn't useless to the 300mph guys or the 400m/1000m guys. :grumpy: But it's got a race to go in, it is good for eliminating the competition for 1pt. in Like The Wind.

Now, my list of useless cars:
*VOLVO 244 Wagon. That piece of crap should be pushed off the PD map ASAP. 210Kw fully worked and I couldn't get better than mid 16's, getting to 200km/h was a pain and overall was a bad car.

*Toyota Prius. Since when did the GT environment suddenly get polluted that we needed hybrid's in there in the first place?? :P Useless car allround to drive, save the 20k in the used car lot, DO NOT BUY ONE.

*The 580,376,147 versions of the Nissan Skyline R32-R34 GTR. Like the others, I would keep one version of each level of GTR (normal, VS, VSII, N1...that's it!!), but then I would've gone further by removing the redundant GT-R's (MNP's for example) and putting the R32 GTS4, R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-T in there in their place. Also keep one JGTC GTR in there, not 10. Same with the NSX's, the Supra's and the RX7's.

.

So the Prius didn't get any better than it was in GT2? Can you upgrade the Prius at all in GT4?

I do not understand at all. What, so if GT featured a load of V8 Supercars there would only have to be 1 Commodore and 1 Falcon? Some race grid that would be. :dunce: So going back to the JGTC, we'd have about... 6 or 7 JGTC cars! :dunce:

If you want to cut down the number of race cars, at least make the different team liverys colour options. 👍

You can upgrade the Pruis, but dont put a racing gearbox on it, you lose the cool HUD. :D

We recently had a race series with the Prius - and 5 other similarly economical vehicles - at UKGTP9. Running on Economy tyres too.

Much mirth was had, especially when the Prius - fastest car in the field - ran out of battery power and became an 80hp slug.
