GT4's useless cars/tracks.

The problem with the Odyssey isn't that it's AWD, the problem is that it has a puny, torqueless 4-cylinder engine. This makes sense in a lighter Civic, but in a 3,700 pound minivan it's almost a joke.

I don't understand why PD (or Honda) didn't use the popular 3.5 liter V6 instead. Just think, perhaps we could get NSX-ish power! That would make all the difference.

Also, most people don't know this but PD screwed up the stats for the Odyssey. 3rd-gen versions weigh upwards of 4,200 pounds, instead of 3,700 as the game states. If PD had got this right, though, the Odyssey would be TOTALLY useless, as its power-to-weight ratio would be so far off the charts.

It would make a good contender for the Model T ford ;)

You're thinking the overweight, large x huge US version.

The Odyssey in GT4 is the Japanese-market MPV. It's not anything like ours, and much smaller. 👍

what IS it with you people? time and time again, I've wondered about your dissers, cause it's like nobody bothers to tune anything!

the only "useless" I will admit to is the original migit...'cause it needs more tranny adjustment. (besides, unfortunately, Herr Daimler and Herr Benz's patents)
ever ran the T on Hong Kong? breathe on the T and you go sideways!
try tuning the crap out of the Midgit2...then take a run round the little 'ring (Autumn)
everyone disses the Nike One. ever played with it on a DIRT track? you wouldn't believe the fun you can have with the nike on Grand Canyon.

the only thing I don't get is the Glitch involving the 2CV. if you tune it, and try to DO anything with it...it locks up and won't move. coding error, mabey?

I hope you're not referring to me, sir Sniffs. :D Have a gander at my car reviews website; so far I've driven, raced, and tuned the Odyssey and taken it as far into the game as possible. I also drove the Honda Z in GT2. Though I haven't driven the Element, Fiat 500, or several other models listed so far, I certainly plan on doing so...just because I like seeing what I can get away with in a "crap" car.

But my original answer to this thread still stands: all those cars you want to race, but can't. :banghead: The Prowler. The Caterham. The Nike. They are useless not because of a lack of power or ability, but because...

..well, we all know...because of game limitations that prevent us from actually using them.

the caterham is awesome. Though when i first got the game i saved up and got one before realising i couldnt race it. But for a quick time attack its a great piece of kit.

Yeah it's such a shame we can't race it. And you're right--other than some time-trial lapping and photomode shots, there's not a whole lot we can do with this awesome machine.

when you tune the Caterham to 260+ Horsepower and full weight reduc, with some suspension and tranny tuning, it's a supercar slaughter machine.

I don't really see the point in the Super Speedway course. I mean, it is pretty useless, going around in a circle again and again. People may argue that the Test Course is the same, but the Test Course is for a flat out, top speed race.

The difference between the Test Course and Super Speedway is the Test Course is a much safer course. The Test Course is not a true racing track; in real-life, such a place would be designed to test cars. Period. If anybody races at testing tracks such as this one, I'm not aware of it.

I can't think of a single time I've ever needed to use brakes at the Test Course, for instance. It's designed for just one purpose: Go As Fast as You CAN. Before you enter the curves, just choose the upper parts of the bank, knead your steering when necessary, and keep holding that throttle. Don't hit or rub the walls. I'm glad to see Test Course races in GT4 are rare. That used to get on nerves: all the TC races in GT3. 👎

Whereas as Stupor Speedway, it is necessary to brake for some cars. It is necessary to actually think about how you attack the curves, who you draft, do you have enough time and space to get around them? etc. And I've noticed racing lines can vary, especially if you're needing to avoid or get by certain Ai. Oval track racing is a valid part of the racing world; you may find it boring, but I disagree it's "useless".

While that may be true, it is a course that doesn't require much skill, except accelerate, brake and pit in. I guess I just prefer more challenging courses.

the test course is great, the 300mph club wouldnt exist, cos you cant get there on sarthe thats for sure.

I hate the other oval one though, i just let bob drive it when i have to race on it.

How about the Toyota Carina ED? With more than about 150BHP tuned, the torque steer is so bad that it begins to become undriveable.

:)

It's bad, it's not a good choice for an amateur, but it's not useless if you have the skillz to keep it pointed into the correct lines without shooting towards the nearest wall.

That all depends what you enter when you race here. It's like in GT3: everyone complains that the Super Speedway 150K was so boring. I say: try it in a Civic! Try it in something that makes you nervous. :nervous: After a few laps, you'll be concentrating so much on keeping the racing line you use as solid as you can to minimize outside tire wear yet keep ahead of the pack; you'll forget there's only 2 turns.

Good point, but that would only work for a while, i know that for one, i cant seem to find a good line when im driving a high downforce car, because halfway round the corner ive had to slow down so i lose the extra handling qualities because of the downforce, so i start to drift outwards from the corner, and the fact that the corners are diferent means the track seems alot harder than it actually is.

From an endurance point of view its terrible.
