GT5 and GTP

Hi,

I came to GTP to find out some new info on GT5, maybe find some like minded people who were looking forward to playing the future of car racing games... However, mostly what I find is a ****-waving competition.

Everyone has their opinion on what Gran Turismo *is*, and what they want GT5 to be, and won't hear anyone say anything different. Some times they won't hear anything different by not reading the thread and then posting something useless like 'Nonononoooooo!', sometimes they clearly don't even read the first *post* before replying.

Some people only read the last post and then attempt to discredit it without a hint of critical thinking. There is one thread (now closed) where the OP tried to talk about something in a particular situation, and not one reply listened to what had been said in the first post, critically eveluated it and posted a balanced reply. One reply was huge, regurgitated a whole lot of stuff that had been said before (all true, it has to be said), but which unfortunalty had no relevance to the situation in the OP. Most of the rest were 'nooooooo!' or arguing sementics, or trying to use PD's name to back up their views.

BULL **** the lot of it. If you can't debate or get your point across without resorting to personal insults, or building straw men, or indulging in reductio ad absurdium, putting your fingers in your ears and going 'lalalallala', or even something as simple as realizing that a single counter example disproves a theory, but hundereds of positive results only show that the testing hasn't been exhaustive enough to find a counter example, then DON'T POST, take a critical thinking and logic class instead and find out why your post makes you look like an ass.

I have thousands of hours on 'arcade' games, and more than a hundred hours on commercial simulators. Gran turismo is neither. Most of the arguements on this forum come from people arguing arcade vs. simulation. It is a console racing game. Get over it. Until they simulate body roll and g-forces and when you hit a bump or clip a curb the steering wheel is ripped from your hands and you get thrown forward against your belt, it isn't a simulator, because they really do have that in commercial simulators. Heavy landing in a light aircraft simulator? You know about it from the bruises. Drop a wing on a big commercial jet and stall it? You know about it because the drop leaves your stomach behind.

It's a game. What's more, it's PDs game and they'll build it how the want it. There's 25 million PS3s, one person saying 'noooooooo!' won't change a thing.

Very well said OP, I check these forums for new info on GT5 (what little info ive learnt here i could learn elsewhere frankly) and i post in some of the "What is your favorite/dream/etc topics"

The people who reply to ANY AND EVERY TOPIC with "Dynamic weather/day night cycles" type comments do my chebs in.

So, if you could've found this info anywhere, why are you still here? Simple, because your on the edge of your seat like everyone else on this forum and the only way to pass the time is by moaning about how we dont have GT5 and how Forza sucks and Grid has a rewind feature and blah blah... Correct?

GT5 is a game, and it simulates driving to a certain degree IMO. It doesn't simulate everything, like you getting hurt from a crash, or the car getting damage, but it simlutes the driving itself pretty well. I think out of all racing games GT does it the best. So it's a driving simulator for some part, right? :scared:

edited to avoid double post.

Personally, I could have found the information elsewhere (not anywhere) *eventually*, i keep coming back because it'll be here first.

I don't care that I don't have GT5 yet, what would be the point? I've never played any of the forza series and don't intend to, the next game i buy will be GT5. The last one was probably sim golf, but the one before that was GT4, so i can;t comment on Forza sucking, and the only game i've ever played with rewind was prince of persia on a mates xbox, and as before that we'd been playing on ninja gaiden, there were things about that PoP that sucked far harder than the rewind.

Ok, It's a pretty realistic driving game. If it's meant to be the hard core simulator some people want it to be, it'll come with a big hydraulic platform and a turntable and fool all your senses and really simulate driving.

1. I dont make 12 negative posts a day about shift and forza (id actually love a 360 with forza)
2. I only make about 1 post a day on these forums
3. Although i can find info about GT5 elsewhere its easier to get it here, i just look at the important posts in the top couple of topics of this forum, where the news from gamescom and TGS broke...what news there was anyway. It saves me using search engines to visit every single games site to get a bit of info here and a bit there

Okay, play nice now. OP has a point, and some of you guys are proving it in a rather not so flattering way. We do NOT want to bother The Ancient Ones ( moderators). They have their hands full as is, thanks to rather immature posters and flamebaiting fanboys.

You have to bear in mind that (and with all due respect to them) a lot of the people on this forum are just kids, and for that reason you have to change the way you communicate and accept that a lot of them can get lippy cos they're sitting behind their PC. A lot lack the basics of holding an intelligent debate and probably wouldn't portray themselves that way if they were stood in front of you in person. It's usually these kids that ruin threads.

On the other-hand, there are a number of older members who enjoy talking about cars and GT, and know how to hold a debate.

But, ultimately you have to lower your expectations when talking on a computer game forum compared to say a car owners club for example.

this thread title is perfect for me to ask this question :

describe what GTP will be like the day GT5 release :D i mean the day before TGS was amazing so you can only imagine

Seriously, who made you correct? If the discussion isn't up to your calibre of conversation, then maybe your in the wrong community.
This forum is excellent, is run by a very sensible bunch of people, and still manages to cater for any age group.
Of course, there are some who ignore rules, some who start threads to argue, and a few that are too immature to give respect to some of the forums most popular people.

As a few of our community have stated: Welcome to the internet.

sorry... i really don't understand where are you going with this, but I agree that GT is not neither arcade or simulation, imo GT is the "best" simulator for console, because combine something hardcore, without exagerating.
Console gaming is for everyone, i agree that games like iracing or similars are better, but the require to be played with a wheel, no point playing them otherwise, while on ps3 the majority of players will play gt5 with a dulashock. Some balance is needed

THATS IT!!! I have only just clicked and realised this now (Sooo used to talking to people in their 20s-30s on car forums) that i never realised, its such a 12 year old thing to say "Forza is crap, GT pwns forza!!!,and Gt needs reeeewind"

Problem solved,i will now steer clear of threads that scream "12 year old alert"

No offense.... wait scratch that, offense. Why would I listen to your video game point from someone who hast bought a video game besides golf in 6 year? :dunce:

It will be one of 2 things.
1) Flooded with questions that have already been answered in a thread directly below the one they just posted.
2) A baron wasteland, the only people that will be posting will be the unfortunate ones who don't have it yet. Even worse, their questions will go unanswered.
