GT5 - Aussie content mentioned by KY

Rather than post a whole host of pictures, I'll just list a few decent Australian tracks for the less eagle-eyed Australians:
Bathurst, Albert Park, Phillip Island, Adelaide Street Circuit, Townsville Street Circuit, Hidden Valley and Sandown.
Actually, I don't know how any Australian could possibly overlook them, since, you know, race tracks are kind of big.:odd:

I wouldn't call Adelaide Street Circuit decent and I am from Adelaide. It is just a mouse maze and only interesting to watch all the cars bounce off the walls. The GP circuit was a little better. Infact the only track I find decent is Bathurst and maybe Phillip Island following. Infact if PD just includes Bathurst I'm more than happy. Bathurst is a must.

Flat paddocks? Hmm okay..

I'd have to agree with Casio there. It's really the main reason why I'm not interested in the V8's, except for when Bathurst and Surfers Paradise are on. I'm really not too fond of the 'paddock' tracks, such as Queensland raceway.

Spot the difference.

And you've driven which ones?

Winton has a fantastic Rise after the first 2 corners then a long sweeping left into a right where you can two wheel it off the kerbs. Its a very technical track and requires precise lines to achieve fast lap times.
Driven here in real life and love it, not too fast, you always feel like you're learning something new.

Symmons Plains is fairly decent as well. heavy braking into the banking at the hairpin which can be taken numerous ways without suffering any loss of time. Had some really good races here in rfactor with big fields.

Wakefield doesn't host the V8's anymore (guess you haven't watched for a while).

Before you mention Sandown I'll get in first (since i have also driven here), while looking quite plain on paper the rise on the back straight ends with a chicane on the crest of the hill, you only see it as you arrive at 250kmh+. Despite being told to brake at the 150m mark numerous times, I could never bring myself to brake that late.

Well said Kayman.Thought I'd add that Mt Pano is very steep.. when you decline down the Mountain it's alot steeper than it looks on TV.

I would love to see Adelaide Street Circuit (F1) with all the bumps, one of the few tracks I feel is really missing from racing games for me to enjoy the challenge of like Monaco, etc. I love watching the old races there, produced great racing and great footage of cars on the edge.

I like Albert Park's layout too, a fast street course with some tricky sections. Both tracks are tough in the rain too.

Bathurst goes without saying, I don't think I need to add anything to what has already been said about it.

But I personally want a lot of tracks still from Europe, forget Australia, there are plenty of countries under-represented still both in tracks and cars. I would like to see more from both regions but there is a lot more still untouched in Europe. Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Donington, Oulton Park, Zolder, Monza, Imola, Istanbul, Hockenheim, Catalunya, Mugello, Estoril....there is so much still missing.

I am an American, and I think you Aussie folk are misrepresented in Gran Turismo. I do tend to agree with making a trip to Australia seem like a lunar mission. The thread's title notes Australian CONTENT. So really, that can mean almost anything from actual cars and tracks in Australia to maybe some Australian V8 Supercar material for Gran Turismo TV or something.

There are two ways I look at Australia cars and tracks according to most people. Either Australian cars and tracks aren't interesting enough to some, or just that no one really gives Australis a real presence. Take the ToCA Race Driver series. Codemasters is a British company, and if I'm not mistaken, from (wherever in the UK Codemasters is based) to any of Australia and/or New Zealand's tracks is a much longer flight to these locations than from Tokyo to any of the Australian or New Zealand courses. If you are going to complete an international clientèle of racing venues and cars in Gran Turismo... first of all, I want to see Canadian and Latin American representation, but more importantly, Australia. You have Australian cars, so why not Australian (and maybe New Zealand) tracks to give some home field advantage? Even Forza Motorsport 1 had their Blue Mountain track, which was a poor man's Bathurst even without Australian cars.

Let's not get on Polyphony Digital too much. Expressing interest in something is better than complete neglect. Maybe we'll learn more by GamesCon or even the Tokyo Game Show.

Hey hey whoa! I know QLD Raceway is a poor race track, and no, it doesn't deserve to be in the game unless we're talking a V8 Supercars championship that should have every round or something. But you have to give it credit for what it does well, IMO it must be one of the most user friendly tracks in Australia, since it's so hard to hit anything when you crash, it's very accessible, and they run a lot of events out there to either participate in or watch. The straight-corner-straight-corner nature also makes it good for Powercruise, and spectators never miss a beat, you can see the whole track from most vantage points.

-> I would be shocked if PD included the Top Gear Australia's Test Track:

:)

LOL, me too. Season 3 is supposed to be getting filmed now, and again there are new hosts, possibly better ones still! Steve Pizzati is still there though, but he was good.

It's a bit stupid that PD only included the race version of the Ford Falcon. They did the same with the Escort in GT2...

^ You mean GT3 (under Tickford). And the Escort in GT2 is a Euro-Ford, not Aussie-Ford. ;)

-> Its highly unlikely that PD will go backwards on its Aussie car selection. :)

BT-> Thats a poor excuse for PD having a hard time to go down south. They go to Sarthe (Le Man) and Nurbie-Ring as if its on their backyard! :indiff:

~> As an Automobile Consultant for PD (I wish :D ), I will make sure that Aussie cars get the same respect as any country! :sly:
