Gt5 comps are a joke.

Technically a game, but more biased as a simulator (as it sais in the game title, "the real driving simulator"). It may be a game but I can guarantee you as well as others (including myself) are still serious to a state about it. If you weren't you wouldn't have learn't to drift.

And what it has to do about all this drama on judge right, judge wrong, videogame competition?

I just found it ironic and funny, sarcastic eyes I guess.
I gather it's in your interest to find out why it's ironic because you took offence to what I said yeah?
No, i did not took offence. But by your statement i will understand that you tried to offend me yeah?

Or you just can't elaborate your own statement?

GhostZ
I understand drifting in general more than well enough to know that D1 judges look for. ;) You'd be correct I had been posting about D1 though, I agree that they are much more rigorous and reasonable, partly because the drifters are far more skilled.

Hahahahahahahahahaha . That's why FD doesn't have skill (BOOM YEAH I SAID IT BIG WHOOP YOU WANT TO FIGHT ABOUT IT)
:)

hahaha just kidding.

@OP. Anyway but you can pretty much spot BS voting so if you feel a comp is bias or the judges don't know what they are doing. Just leave. If i see a comp that turns bad I just leave and don't say a word. Cuts out the drama of it and makes me feel better.

Guys, i will tell you something shocking...

It is just... a game.

Your minds now:

I love that ^^

Nope not really, just an assumption :dunce:

I can elaborate but I don't want to bring out a dictionary to type out what I meant

If you don't join comps because you feel it is "unfair" then you seem like you take it too personally. I join open lobby comps all the time, not with the intention to win but to see how I match up against others and just for the sake of practice. I lost in the first round of a comp today but losing these comps doesn't affect me in anyway.

To me, if you want to join a comp room or see how your skill compares to others then be prepared for failure. Just like any other sport, you win some you lose some. Judges can't always be to blame but sometimes many variables which the drivers couldn't have seen would contribute to the decision.

On another note, Miko, putting car lengths on the follow car in a comp is not a guaranteed win. Because of the games physics some cars are just faster even on comfort hards. The rules in open lobby comps are very limited as well when it comes to reverse entries. Always be aware that an open lobby comp is not official nor properly organized. The best you can do is go out there, have fun and learn from mistakes.

If you have the replay of it. We can take a look for you ( it could be good training for our judges)

Seriously, who joins a competition and is hoping that he doesn't win? That is like starting a soccer game with one goal less then your opponent. Everyone would prefer winning... Everyone wants to prove hisself, that mainly happens on VDC. In the first big comps of GTP that was good IMO, but now everyone knows the top players. No one needs to prove hisself now, only if you are completely new. Joining a GTP comp and saying you don't want to win sounds foolish to me. Winning is better then losing if you really want to be competative.
I think there is a top 5 list of GTP's best competative drifters, I won't name them here because the ones I mean will understand theirselves. The others do not have less skills, but they just can never get the status of the top 5 there is.

I remember OG Tomkat hosting random comps, I found his comps way more based on fun then the ones we have now on GTP. No offence.

I know a couple of people who could also get top scores on the GTP comps, guys like iPutWorkn and decoy187 are hella good drifters, but they aren't even competative. decoy187 doesn't even want to battle, he justs wants to do full laps all the time. So why would you compete with eachother if you can drift withoout competing? That sounds more fun to me. I prefer the GTP team lobbies way more then competitions.

I never get to see open lobby comps...What is this!!!!

I do comps so I can get use to it and be better at tandem and get around the rules better.

When I said "I don't go in to win" is a very broad explanation. Of course I want to win, of course I want to do better than the other person but I don't want to fight for reasons why I should win. If someone beats me fair and square then I have no complaints.

But when you look at the entire situation from a unbiased perspective, anything can happen. No one should go into a room and EXPECT to win. They should want to win and try hard to but expecting to win is just silly. Just like football, a great team can lose to a bottom of the standings team.

The main difference I wanted to point out is that you don't drive knowing that you're going to win but you drive with the intention. When you drive without the intent you underestimate opponents, make silly mistakes because of lack of concentration or you might just be too focused on strategy than technique. A lot of things go through my mind every battle (how do I lead, do I drive faster or slower, do I mix it up or when I'm following, can I get on his door without needing to check up too much and stall etc) and each battle is different.

At the end of the day it means nothing if I win or lose. If I win then cool but if I lose then it's still all good It wont affect my image or perspective. As I continue to do battles I become more competitive.

I would love it if two people arguing on this thread decided to have a drift battle to prove who is correct

Correct about what?

About their arguments, wether GT5 comps are all about being an ego or wether it's just a game or wether it's more than just winning or wether it's a thrill or whatever

I'll just say now, I'm running in a comp with the team and others and it's great fun. Organised and not dodgey. All good fun

I agree with Duman I'm in VDC I want to win, I know I'm most likely not going to win as I am new to the wheel and can't even manage to qualify but I definitely join the room with the intention of winning. If I loose oh well I'll try again next time iv been drifting gt5 since its release I don't need to prove my self but I still want to win :).
