Gt5 comps are a joke.

Losing in a comp, but somebody tells you that was sick drifting, awesome angles whatever, is a dozen times better feeling than just winning it. If you know you have impressed someone, you don't even care about winning it so much or not at all. That's my point of view. Words of people mean much more than your name in the Nr.1 spot.

Kind of like how when you and nar battle. I honestly hate judging you and nar lol it was to damn close to call

Just competed in a competition.

First run I went against a z34, the z34 on entry went reverse and slowed to a crawl. I put on my brakes and let him continue. Judges gave it to the Z34. (was follow car) Which I guess I agree with. I should have passed.

Second run I'm doing flawlessly. I was a solid 15 car lengths ahead of him when we finished. Judges gave it to the z34 because he got more angle.

Seriously I'm sorry, but angle means nothing if you're half a mile away from the lead car. We were following D1GP rules. In D1GP you would NEVER see a follow car win when lead car was that far away.

This happens in EVERY comp I go in. Do I have the wrong idea here or are these people just that ignorant?

Some people from the comp will probably come on here and go "lol umad" well yes, I am. Because of how inaccurate the judges are. It's laughable.

Does anybody else get this b/s handed to them when they compete?

Are there any REAL competitions with judges who actually know what they are doing?

1: 15 car lengths is almost the whole section
2: Stick to GTP competitions. Public competitions are all about good looking cars and Overall Impression. I once entered a comp that said line isnt included. After i came 2nd in that (which wasnt bad for me) havent joined a random pub comp since.
Threads like the Motegi Comp, Virtual Drift Circuit etc have valid interpretations of how a tandem run is to be judged.

Yea like when we battled, it was awesome because of close i was when i followed (*,*)

I suggest everyone look at the latest GT5 drift trial. The second race in particular. Watch the replays of the people with the highest scores.

This needs to stop. That's not drifting. That's rocking back and forth like a 🤬

No one on here participates in those unless they need some cash

The scoring system for drifts in GT5 is broken anyway.

When I'm doing those seasonals I just drift the best I can within the weird scoring systems desired performance and get as many points as I can while drifting "properly".

If people in the top 10 are doing cheap stuff or whatever that really doesn't bother me personally since as I said the scoring system is an absolute joke

Drift for fun, not for points 👍

Both drift trials are like that now. Someone found out that a Micra MM-R does more points than the Toyota 7.

I drift for style, and rarely competition (because I suck, use hood view [tunnel vision], and most people act like jerks). Points drifting doesn't prove a whole lot, but for people that do try to make it on the leaderboards, they get bogged down by ugly FF hatches pulling cheap tactics.

+1^^

I use the bonnet view when drifting. I agree points doesn't prove much. I want to make it to the leaderboards, My average is around 700 which is 🤬. I haven't seen FF pull off cheap tactics. I'm curious how they do it.

Click on the new seasonal event, go to the thing all the way to the left, watch the replays of the people on the top of the leaderboards for race 2

I watched that replay just now and.. wow I never expected it to be THAT bad.

I think that was the dullest thing I've ever watched.. I've watched people in the top ten just to check out their technique and it's often very exciting to watch, especially London with the D1 cars.. but this... I can't begin to describe what I just watched..

Does this mean I get to be apart of the cool gang now? :dopey:

RULES AND DIRECTIONS

-RULES- *Statements mentioned below apply to the GTPDC and the GTP Challenges*
  • Entries must include these items in the replay: Speedometer, Lap Time and Steering Wheel. Entries that do not include these items will be disqualified from the competition/challenge.
  • The entry must NOT contain the name of the competitor. If the entry does include the name of the competitor, then the entry is disqualified.
  • An unedited replay of either a full lap or a particular set of corners which the competition/challenge is to take place must be submitted.
  • The competitor must make sure that they will have enough time to obtain an unedited replay to turn in as their entry before the due date. If the due date has passed and the competitor has not turned in their entry, then they are disqualified from the competition/challenge.
  • It is suggested that the entries must be kept around a file size of 10 to 15 megabytes to keep the file easily downloadable for the judges and for those who have a narrowband internet connection.
-[GTPDC]-

->Directions<-
  1. Upon entering a GTPDC, the competitor must provide what car they will be using and what division they will compete in to the Coordinator of the WEEK. They must concur to the requirements mentioned in each division before entering.
  2. Once the competitor has submitted their entry to the Coordinator, they must make a video file of their replay on their computer. For more information, please go to this thread (How to make videos) or use the search function.
  3. When the competitor has finished working on their best entry, they must contact ******* either on AIM or through Private Messages to see how they can upload their entry onto his server.
  4. Once ******* has confirmed that the entry is fine, wait until the Coordinator says that they have sent the PMs to the judges and wait for a week. By the beginning of the following week, the scores shall be posted.
-[GTP Challenges]-

->Directions<-
  1. Upon making a GTP Challenge, a competitor must challenge another competitor in order to qualify a challenge, or a team challenging a team.
  2. The competitors/teams must discuss what course, horsepower limits, tire limits, a due date and/or certain corners where the battle will take place.
  3. After making an agreement upon the minimum circumstances (among others that can be made between the challengers), each challenger, or team captain of each team, must contact one of the head judges to confer on making an official thread.
  4. Once a thread has been made with the challengers' names in the title: "GTP Challenge: (Team A) vs. (Team B)", the challenge has officially begun.
  5. When the challenger has finished working on their best entry, they must contact ******* either on AIM or through the Private Message System to see how they can upload their entry onto his server.
  6. Once ******* has confirmed that the entry is fine, wait until the Coordinator says that they have sent the PMs to the judges and wait for a week. By the beginning of the following week, the scores shall be posted.
  • The head judge that the challengers have contacted will be the Coordinator of the Challenge.

In any moment, any of the statments above may change, depending on the situation. This post will be updated as soon as it possibly can. Some new points may be added, which will be in bold and at the end of the statement, have a date upon when it was added.

If the directions are not comprehendable, do not make sense, or cannot find what you were looking for, please contact Thio either through a Private Message or on AIM at dn12tennis.
SCORING

-Exhibition Drift Scoring Procedure-

Points will be awarded out of the maximum amount listed below:
  1. Smoke (5 points)
  2. Style (10 points)
  3. Angle (10 points)
  4. Control (10 points)
Explained...
  1. Smoke makes the drift more exciting. The more the better.
  2. Style consists of how a person controls their car differently from the average drifter (how they drift the course). Points are awarded for uniqueness... etc...
  3. Angle... the more the better. Because the above is completely left to personal judgment no point scale will be developed, but judges are expected to judge in an unbiased fashion.
  4. Control consists of how smooth the car is being handled while drifting, Points are taken off for wall hitting/sliding, lots of stuttered counter-steer, poor line taking, etc...
The challengers must decide where the judges are expected to judge drifting. This must be stated in the first or second post of each challenge so judges can do there job fairly and efficiently. Specify one of the following:
  1. Just in corners
  2. Linking some corners without drifting in straights
  3. Drifting the entire lap
If nothing is specified, individual judges may count drifting in straights and linking corners as either positive or zero points in style and control categories, but not in smoke or angle.

-Racing Drift Scoring Procedure-

Points will be awarded out of the maximum amount listed below:
  1. Style (5 points)
  2. Time (10 points)
  3. Speed (10 points)
  4. Control (10 points)
If more than two wheels leave the track the challenger must enter another video.

Explained...
  • Style consists of how a person controls their car differently from the average drifter (how they drift race the course). It also includes a score for smoke (the more smoke is not better), unnecessary smoke as well as not enough smoke will count toward point deductions, but in general smoke from four wheels rather than two and moderate levels of smoke will be what the judges are looking for…
  • Time will be scored on how fast the drifter is going. The faster competitor will receive a score of 10, while the slower one will receive a deduction of 1 point for every second lost to the opponent. For fractions of a second this proportion will be used in determining points.
  • Speed: I have done the scoring in this way because exit and average speed take more skill than entrance speed.
    • Average exit speed in all sectors with corners will be 40% of the score for speed
    • Average average speed in all sectors with corners will be given 40% of the score for speed.
    • Average entrance speed in all sectors will be given 20% of the score for speed. In each of the above areas, the person with the higher average speed will receive a score of ten and for every MPH the slower individual will receive a deduction of .2 points in exit and average speed and .1 points in entrance speed.
  • Control will include line taking and slip angle, and will be judged by individual judges due to its nature. 40% of the score will be devoted to line taking, which involves proper apexing and the choice of a well chosen line (one that utilizes the road to the driver’s greatest advantage). 40% will be devoted to slip angle. Here the greater the angle does not necessarily grant a high score. Rather, the way that the slip angle is used will be of more importance, and things like clean exits and fast but controlled entries will be rewarded. 20% of the score will be reserved for deductions resulting from things like hitting walls and stuttered counter-steer (if these do not occur then they receive the full 20%).
*Speed and time will be determined by a submission of the following from the analyzer: speed, average speed, sector times, and lap time. Only the head judge will score this portion.*

In any moment, any of the statments above may change, depending on the situation. This post will be updated as soon as it possibly can. Some new points may be added, which will be in bold and at the end of the statement, have a date upon when it was added.

Just to give you a idea how we had it back then. All we need to do is to adjust with online capabilities.
