I think PD purposely made the grass slippery for the demo so that nobody could find an advantage using it for the GT Academy competition.

Come one... I'm from far away and was joking.

1st There are things not right with this demo. But it's the best thing (maybe Ferrari challenge is better) in the series. It's the best physics GT ever.

2nd The dude was "spamming" and half what he said is wrong. I can do everything he said about turn in brake, lift off etc. and I don't find it strange that it's so "limited" because this is not an american muscle car, mid range sedan or heavy Gt, it's a real sports car.

3rd he has some good points. And snap oversteer is also there, I didn't ack that. Now I do.

So I don't think people should generalize, but just pick the good issues he raised and discuss them.

PS:
(...)What has me worried is that if this is what a 370z handles like what in the world is a Lotus Exige or Pagani Zonda going to be like?(...)

A lot different hopefully!!! An Elise will be much more (even more)of a hand full but light and fast as a light sports car should be, and the Zonda will a huge overpowered rather light and fantastic supercar.

The 370 is an excellent sports car. As is/was the 350, why is it wrong to depict it decently?

I wonder whats compelled people with bad lap times to come on this board and post suggestions to PD so aggressively. Pro physics people, and furthermore the traction on the grass is debatable, some grass is slippery some grass has more grip. I'm personally glad the 370z tuned and normal handle so differently, this should show people that the differences between cars are going to be pretty significant in this game, also the tuning is going to be critical and beneficial to people who do it right.

I should hasten to add something to my above post. If Polyphony can easily isolate and identify specific handling issues and fix them fairly quickly, I have no problem with that. If they're using slippery grass as a penalty, I'm fine with that too. But I should point out that if they have an opinion that the character of their cars through most or all the range of grip dynamics is the right one, I wouldn't take issue with a team which has given us such an amazing game. Well, a demo of it anyway. ;)

Like many of us here, I find the TT demo to be an amazing simulation of the real live sports car, and attribute any problems handling it to my inexperience in taking an actual car around turns at insane speeds. I know that some of us equate personal opinion to real world fact, and sometimes it isn't. I've certainly been guilty of that in the past here, but I've been trying to be scrupulous about that and keep that from happening. So, keep in mind that a few things you're having trouble with could be the problem of pushing a car hard when you have no seat of the pants sensation to help you judge how well you're doing it.

Just a question, is the NA release for GT5 really during the summer? Has it been confirmed by Sony? Is it actually legitimate?

Summer 2010 could mean a variety of things depending on what calender they were referring to(which is unknown) when they made the statement.

I'm not, because grass, sand and gravel physics should be very own part of GT's physics and should be as correct as the tarmac simulation is. They promised us WRC, do you remember that?

If the simulation were complete, driving grass should lower traction and something upset the car as it is without this unrealistic icy feeling.

I know that some of us equate personal opinion to real world fact, and sometimes it isn't.

If you do things many years in reality and the game is now prevailing you that it's not possible, you have RIGHT to equate personal opinion to real world fact and try to explain living room theoretics that they are wrong, not you.

Says TBA 2010 for me, though it automatically logs me into gamespot AU (Australia) so I guess that is the reason. Strange how a bunch of places is using the Feb 2nd date now (only less than a month and a half away!) even though SCEA employee told them summer. I can't see it making early Feb.

Still... GT5 TT Demo will be finishing on the 24th, and no one want's to go back to Prologue, so 2nd of Feb would be a great time to launch GT5. Wishfull thinking... :)

Anyone remember where I can find the video or screenshots of the mystery track seen in, I believe the Ferrari 458 trailer. It's the track with the rolling hills with nothing around it. (looked like fields)

Edit: nevermind. Watching that video on the main page of Kaz at the 25 hours of thunderhill had me thinking it was that track, but after finding and watching the 458 trailer, it doesn't appear to be.

I pre-ordered my copy 2 weeks ago or so and they told me early in Feb as well, and I laughed at them. If it was going to be Feb release for NA then don't you all think that Jordan or Amar or someone in the know would have let GTPlaneteers know by now?

No, neither knew about the demo any earlier than anyone else.

The location of the track in the 458 video (along with the off road track in the E3 trailer) is Tuscany. 👍

Actually, I was informed about the demo at the beginning of November, but the source asked me not to reveal any information about it.

When you say things like that, it makes me hate you.

I bet there are so many things that you know that we don't, and you won't tell us.
