So Gamestop changed the GT5 release date to 11/1/2010. And one of their employees got really upset about a month ago when I told him their 2/3/2010 release date is probably wrong, started yelling and being rude, so I left. Maybe I'll go back and ask him what the release date is and just leave

Even if that date has any truth to it, means nothing to me. I'm getting the game in March. 👍

That's what you think. March might be a close call for Japan if they don't start promoting the game soon

Well at mine they said that they change it to 11/1/2010 and after he said that then he said "If that date holds" At this rate will be into GT 7 before 5. Ugh now a whole year again But at lease I got another game that I reserved that is officially coming out on March 9th.

They don't need to do much promoting.

I don't care what anyone says, this game will be released THIS YEAR. When this year, who knows. No way in hell it's coming out in 2011.

I know - retailer estimates are meaningless, BUT, this might be different:

I've just looked at amazon.co.uk. The GT5 product page states "not published yet" and gives no indication of release date.

HOWEVER - I have pre-ordered, and my order summary page now gives a dispatch estimate of 24th - 25th March 2010. I do not recall seeing this information on Amazon UK previously... including on my order summary page

Speaking with Meristation he said, "I'll only say one thing. Our team of engineers did not want to do something that has already been seen in other games. No. I wanted something completely different and new." So should we expect perfection come launch next year, Kaz? "Yes, expect perfection."
I doubt they can do better than this:

I don't think they'll have big parts flying and cars bursting into flames... by perfection I understand hood flying and engine being depicted realistically in each car and stuff like that.

Keeping in mind this is GT and not Burnout or a demolition derby simulator.

Doesn't matter if the game is called Burnout Paradise and it is an arcade, you can't deny that the aesthetic damage is the most realistic you could see anywhere.
The problem is that PD can't do that because of car companies, that's why the cars in burnout paradse are anonimous.

I don't get it. If the car is faster in real life, then it's faster in GT. When the car's consumption is better in real life then it will be better in GT. Why try to hide fact that this or that car is safer than others? It's parameter like anything else. Why they do such cars when they are ashamed of them? This is ridiculous.

I don't deny, and I love Burnout and the crashes. But damage in Burnout is "more or less" generic in a few anonymous cars as you say, and in GT, it has to match each car and depict it as in real life. So even before the manufacturers not allowing it (they will eventually), I think they just can't do it yet, all the rendering etc. At least not to a level of perfection we would like (demand even?) and definitely not in a realistic time frame. The game will come out way too late as it is.

But the point I was making is that I don't see that kind of visual damage as something needed in a GT game. Not at this point.

The cars meet the safety parameters for what they are designed to do. A KIA is perfectly fine as a daily driver under normal conditions. But if you take that same car and race it as you will in Gran Turismo it suddenly becomes an instant death trap. Marketing teams fear (whether you agree or not doesn't matter to them) that the public will see a daily driver put into a wall at 120+mph and think that what they see is what it will really do during a 70mph commute. Then factor in that they are also relying on PD to get all of their calculations correct and have all damage simulation proper, without trashing thousands of each model to confirm it, and they place their public image in the hands of a simulation.

I'd say he was being sarcastic...

Someone said "march is coming fast", and he posted a photo of the man removing the plugs from the ears and saying... "What's that you say!" as if he could interpret that as we can wait 6 more months.
