what 6 years?? they started to developed in 2006..Even if it didnt 5 years

The new code started to be built in beginning of 2005, in terms of technical development. Actual development of the game would've been a few years before that.

Correct.

I know from a Polyphony studio tour made by GameSpy before GT5 was released. The reporter opened a door without showing the camera man what was inside, saying "In here is the secret game they're working on. You definitely wanna see what's in here, it's quite impressive" or something like that.

Interesting indeed

Goes to show, alot of hard work has gone into this. If I were KY I'd deffinetly be opening up one of those bottles of wine he has stored at PD HQ as a bit of a celebration for the hard work he and his team have acheived.

10 years in conception, 5 years in building.

5 years is not that long considering the scale of the content.. let's not forget that.
For example, it took the developers of darksiders 4 years to create that game.. it's a good game, but that allready took 4 years working on a relatively short game.

Forza took.. what, 2-3 years? also a decent game but the cars are mostly the same and the tracks are rehashed versions of what was in forza 1 and 2 allready.
GT5 will see a lot of new tracks.

And the facts speak for themselves:
- weather effects take time to develop.. that is why forza did not have them.
- Night time racing takes time to develop, also probably why forza did not have that.
- Then we have 1000 cars instead of 400 cars.
- it seems that GT5 will be getting 60-70 individual tracks.
- Specific car classes like indy car and nascar all have their individual set of rules.
- The fact that GT:HD was cancelled, the fact that the development of GT PSP and prologue take time as well.

So all things considering.. in perspective this is really not that long for a game this big.. i think people are not really getting how big this game will be (yet)... but im sure it will be worth the wait.

yes think about Features of GT5. they are FAST.
I heard PD has 40 people in 2007 and now they are 140 people from SLS Trailer.
400.000 polygons per car
Day night Cycles
Weather Changes
1000+ cars
70 tracks
Online Features
Damage++
GT5 prologue
GTHD
GT Academy
OTher Works GTR LC panel
GTPSP
A lot of Demo for Game events and Auto shows.
and more...
If we think like this they are fast. Every feature is new and developed from scratch like GT5 engine.

Agree:tup: I am just guessing here but I bet GT5 has been done for a while now but Sony said to PD something like well we need some demos and a PSP game first to build some hype for our marketing campaign so GT5 will sell lots of consoles and extra hardware as well. Just my thought.

Added to that is the fact that the GT5 code was built from scratch.

Thank you guys for attending.
Let's take a look for GT4 there wern't a lot of new content but PD spend to develop almost 4 years. There was only car and track numbers difference. this is not like new. you can say its DLC added to GT3.. i LL skip photo mode because i don't think they spend too much time for it.
but now First GT on the ps3.. İt has alot NEW brand feature. it makes long develop time and effort.Really PD worked well on this Nextgen GT.
Kazunori said everything created from scratch like GT1. i believe GT1 dream comes true AGAIN. it's gonna be most selling GT game in history. There are alot of contents alot of new feature on new legend. What can i say more?
iit'll be worth to wait and more n more..

edit: cycles didn't confirmed yet but if it has dusk dawn night day it ll have Cycles. That means cycles they can put it
