Sony: "we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches"

I really hope they exceed the expectations, because every day that passes, the expectations go higher.

What ever happened to that Sony executive that promised GT5 will have a final date? No more malarkey, no more delays, this next date released is final. Can he be fired? How about learning to choose his words more closely? We trusted Sony that there wouldn't be another delay and they pissed in our cheerios

Fixed^

What if... there is really, a serious problem within the game? Should PD make a day 0 patch? That would be unprofessional.

If the problem was diagnosed and they had time before the release, delaying it to fix whatever it is, is better than releasing a broken game and relying on a patch that people may or may not be able to apply to their game. That reeks of laziness.

So I don't see how people could get mad at PD under that circunstances, **** happens.

Now, let's assume this is\was a marketing ploy and the November date was never real... well, in this case, they should have taken into account the hate it would summon :P

Disappointed, but my pre-order still stands and I ain't going nowhere. Wounds shall heal, and I got more important things to stress over.

That said, I think they can soften the blow by releasing more media and information about the game.

SO when Kaz says that this is the Final release date ,how can we trust other dates .Honestly I am expecting a 2011 release .ATleast tell us why it was delayed PD.

Move seems to be selling very well. Perhaps Sony are keeping their "GT Powder" dry to maintain the momentum later??

We can speculate forever I guess.

What worries me is not the fact that we will have to wait another 6-8 weeks past November 2nd. What worries me is that the longer they delay it, the less chance there will be that GT6 will be a PS3 title. Which is funny because Kaz himself actually stated at TGS that they had begun work on GT6. So So how can they still be perfecting GT5?

i already wondered as mentioned before why i idn't see any television adds. lets hope the delay isn't too big. big dissapointment in my opinion

The two editions will overlap in their development, so work on GT5 can be described as work on 6.

Are we really sure, wheter its delayed because of x-mas or other games? Dont think so really, because that coulld have been decided and announced much earlier. Maybe there just blue-ray pressing problems or something similar (as i think the game is really finished by this time). So HOPEFULLY just 3-5 weeks delay

Really? After six years you think it would be preferable to delay further rather than have a release day patch? I think it's unprofessional that they delay any further rather than getting it into the hands of consumers. I'm perfectly happy to play with 95% of the game while they work on patching the other 5%.

I'm sticking with my plan of buying a used copy as soon as they become available. I'm not going to miss out on a great driving game, but I certainly don't wish to support PD's business practices.

Because they would have portions of PD dedicated to working on GT5 all the way up to GT6's release? With rare exceptions, it doesn't require the entire development team to do QA work.

Just because a game has had a long development cycle doesn't mean you shouldn't try to get as much QA work done as possible before you actually release it.

If this is a delay because of a game breaking bug (something that would prevent it from being certified), then you really wouldn't want it. Those bugs will delete your saves, corrupt your hard drive, prevent you from going past a certain point of the game ect. Companies actually have released very buggy games that they've improved over time (last years NBA2K for example). I think it's a lot more respectable that a company would want to give the consumers the best product they can possibly make rather than trying to fix everything with patches months and weeks after its released.

You also have to take into account that not everyone with a PS3 is connected online. So if there is a really awful bug then those people would be permanently screwed.

This happens...can anybody say F1 2010?!?!? But I think the fact that its so close to release they are putting on the finishing touches and underestimated how long it would take, at least I hope.

I personally am not to distraught over the delay. I just got my DFGT last week, and GT4 is pretty much a whole new game to me now.

But the thing that annoys me is that unless they discovered a major game-ruining glitch, there's no reason that the game couldn't be released on November 2nd and then henceforth be perfected through patches.

I mean, I don't like installing a bunch of patches, but c'mon. The game has to come out eventually.

So I'm thinking either they DID find a game-breaking glitch, or the delay is for timing. Maybe they want it to come out closer to Christmas or something.

Are we really sure, wheter its delayed because of x-mas or other games? Dont think so really, because that coulld have been decided and announced much earlier.

Indeed, they announced the "final" release date not that long ago, so a change of strategy seems unlikely as they could have figured it out then whether this date was good or not.
Apart from the fact GT5 is relying on total sales during a long lifespan and not depending on short term hype alone a change of strategy to increase sales has the potential risk of pissing off your fanbase ( at least short term ) so the possible increase in sales may be counterbalanced by people cancelling their orders or in the worst case ( those who haven't yet got a PS3 ) jump ship.
Marketingwise this doesn't make sense, as GT5 has already gathered a reputation for taking forever and a delay will only add to that and make it all look rather unprofessional and an expensive joke.
Therefore it must be, in my opinion, an issue with the game itself or somehow a production issue for whatever reason.

The reason for the delay is irrelevant.
Since we cant know the exact reason for it, or even the extent of it, its best to move on and not dwell on it. But its a failure. The delay is the result of failure, not success. Every time in the future I look at my regular version of the game it will be a nice reminder: yeah, these are the people who didnt have their act together at the 11th hour. They're a bit if a spectacle, arent they at this point?? Its like watching a dog hump a football ..harmless really, but a laughingstock all the same.

I realllllly hope it's not going to 2011 but I really thought Nov 2 was it. Now that there isn't a definite date, it's probably going to see 2011
