Just got this today, wierd they are sticking to the original date, since entry to the competition ends on the 5th.

I got that email today too, and my Amazon order is still down for an expected Nov 4th or 5th Delivery. But I bet that's just because a new date hasn't been announced yet, I'm not expecting to receive GT5 on the 5th November as much as I'd like to.

In saying it won't handle 40 mins of racing you've pretty much just described almost every production road car ever made. Almost no road car is designed to be hammered for 40 mins on a track. There are the occasional track day specials which are more resililient to track use, but cars like the Veyron, Enzo and Zondas will all be knackered after 40 mins of on the limit track driving. The bottom line is the Veyron is insanely fast despite it's weight. It handles well despite it's weight and it laps a track very fast despite it's weight. And all of that is despite track performance not being on the cars agenda. You are right, it isn't a car designed for racing, but neither is an Enzo, it's designed to be a very fast road car. Try to race it without modifications and it will break, the same as a Veyron which was designed to be both a very fast road car and a very luxurious one at the same time.

Youre right, I mean take what Clarkson said on Top Gear once. He said no matter what the car is, Lambos, Astons or Ferraris after an afternoon on the track they're sweeping up parts of them off the track... Abuse is abuse no matter what car you have... I mean why is it you always hear boyracers saying thier car is knackered after a year or so? Maybe because they drive it around bouncing off the red line 99% of the time.

Look after your car and she'll look after you!

Thanks for all the offers of help, everyone, and sorry for any confusion. The bit of news I'm seeking clarification on is not related to the release date, unfortunately.

All good things come to he who waits dude... News is news regardless of if its a bit of fun or major breaking news... Keep em coming!

This is true, but at the same time there are only a handful of mods needed to get a "sports oriented" car in better shape for such a hiding on the circuit. The trickiest is probably the clutch or sump, mind.

Then again, you ought to still look after the car even then... :dopey:

That could be organized with a group of friends, though if it isn't supported in the game the person winning 1st overall will get the most credits, then 2nd, etc. It could be fun with a group of friends where you don't care about the amount of credits you win.

I wonder if PD will hold large international online race events maybe the same day that the real race is happening. For example, when there are 4 hour or 24 hour nurburgring races they could host a giant race for cars allowed in the real thing.

Question. Is it online servers etc that limit number of cars on track to 16 or is it the actual ps3? I am thinking that if PD used its supercomputer to back up the races then couldn't you have a lot more cars than that on the track? Also, we won't be next to 16 cars at one time so couldn't we have more?

Ahh, its been a while since I have posted (since the announce of the delay). I'm not getting my hopes up for a release date this month. The fact that they have waited this long to give a new release date tells me that they still do not know. For if they did, they would have announced it already so that customers, retailers, and stockholders could plan accordingly. If there is no announcement this week, I am canceling my preorder. The customer treatment by Sony is not acceptable. Sorry everyone for the negative rant, but I am fed up. Hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised by a release date that is relatively soon.
