I dislike padding so shamelessly overdone that PD is basically lying about the car count in the game. Particularly when PD basically resorts to completely making up cars and saying they are real life cars, all just to pursue a number on the back of the box (which is exactly what was done in GTPSP, and looks to be what is happening in GT5, sadly).
GT5 should be held to a higher quality standard than GTPSP was, and subtracting the hundred or so needless copies that GTPSP had when transferring the cars over to GT5 would go a long way towards doing that. There are better solutions (such as getting rid of most of the duplicates, but actually fixing the rest of the duplicates that are simply incorrectly modeled), but I don't see that happening.
Yeah, PD seems to have put a focus on car quantity. There are even quite a few duplicates in Prologue and there are not that many cars. However, the game overall looks like it will also not be lacking in the quality department(if it ever reaches retail that is)
HA. HA. HA.
I merely meant that it wouldnt make sence to have all the cases made if you were not about to print (?) the disc's
This, this, a thousand times this.
I'm surprised this isn't talked about more (actually, no, I suppose it's not too surprising...). The 1000 car number is bandied about, but do people know how many dozens of Miatas are in PSP, and therefore are likely to be in GT5? How about 10 350Z's? The Skyline count in PSP isn't actually that different from GT4, so I'll overlook it. The entire Vauxhall/Opel duplication counts them as unique cars, too. And for people wondering what Toronado means about fake cars; Lexii with the twin-turbo engine, for example.
I haven't looked on PSP, but I'm wondering if the Beetle RSI's aspiration was fixed too; it was listed as turbo for some reason.
Wait... what duplicates are there in Prologue? Last I played every car is quite obviously different from others... I suppose the two Nissan prototypes are of little use, but they are different from their production counterparts (something that can't be said about, say, a '95 R33 and a '96).
thats it! youve done it, SONy forgot to put the discs in all the cases!
Mass recall!
Most of the tuned versions are visually the same except with an added spoiler and a Gran Turismo Livery on the windshield (the Ford GT is virtually the same too, but with the mentioned additions and a carbon fiber body panel). Also, there are a few Skylines (which the Gran Turismo series is notorious for).
Quick, get out and buy Shaun whites snowboarding. I bet all the discs are in there.
Our definitions of "duplicate" are vastly different then. I take it to mean they're the same. The Tuned cars are all quite different from their stock counterparts, and as we've now learned, are probably indicative of what possibilities we have in the full game.
And GT-R =/= Skyline Coupe =/= Skyline Sedan. Not duplicates either.
Am I the only one who doesn't see the "end of october" statement anymore?

Did they erase it from both US and EU blogs??
EDIT: even the message on Twitter is gone https://twitter.com/#!/PlayStationEU/status/27250357927
The EU website says "We are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches later this year."
So 2010 then :-D

I can't wait to see last year's Mustang. That said, has anyone else noticed that all the cars chosen thus far have followed a pattern?
2003 Buick
2004 HPA R32
2005 Papadakis S2000
2006 AM Corvette
2007 HPA TT
2008 JR Rocha G37
2009 Mustang
It's been (1) American, (2) German, and (3) Japanese, in that order, twice in a row, and the Mustang re-started that trend. That said, I hope Kaz stumbles upon a hot-rodded '32 Ford roadster there.
Also, I hope that they remember to list HPA as Canadian this time around . . .
This preorder pack must be soled by some illegal retailers that sell pirated games. In Russia there lots of people that would not lose their chance to make money on such things. I do speak russian and the kid says that he is very dissapointed that the disk wasn't there but he liked the poster and the post cards he bought it for 199 rubles which make less than 5 euros. well, i wouldn't want to be in his place, i do not want unpack the GT5 box which has no disk in it, so i guess i will be waiting for the official release.
It's been a while since I've played Prologue, so I will have to go check them more closely for their similarities(I'm talking visually and you may be talking performance spec).
you wrong!

They have edited away the "expect a release date by the end of october".
Wich means that we can get a new release date 2012. And we probably won't see the game until 2050. This is a joke beyond anything else.
They didn't edit anything. That comment never was on the PSblog it was only on the European PS Twitter account and it's still there.
In what way?
Are you sure? Cause I just saw someone in the comments that had writen that. I hope you are right ...
All that he wrote false
I'm 100% sure. You can do searches for sites that picked up on that "before the end of the month" comment. They'll link to the twitter account because that's where it came from. For example
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-10-13-gt5-has-been-delayed-again
Look at Update 2.

Oh OK, would you mind doing a quick translation of what he is saying?
I'm not having a dig, i'm just saying thats what happened, reading your post made me think of it!
Can I have a release date please.
Sure you can
... soon ... ...almost there...
