Yeah I understand they want it to help influence the sale of other things, but let's face it, all we really want is GT. The sooner they get it out, the more sales.. period.

How does that make sense to anyone? If the game is released now, it will sell more copies by the time christmas comes around as opposed to releasing for christmas. It won't sell less, its GRAN TURISMO for god's sake! Are they thinking people will buy a PS3 at christmas and GT5 at the same time? How will a different release change that?

I'm not sure exactly why people don't buy games as much during the summer months, they just don't(judging by sales trends of every year since gaming began).

Than if they release it during Summer people forget it exists by the time Christmas hits(biggest money making period) because there are newer games out. This means Microsoft would have 2 big system sellers while Sony wouldn't have anything to offer when it comes to a system selling game.

I honestly don't think they'll change the game. It'll just sit there for 7 months. They have a budget and I don't see why it wouldn't have already been used up. 7 months of work = tons of man hours = tons of money.

That guy is SONY PORTUGAL? SO maybe he talks about Portugal release.. maybe interview SONY form US or JAPAN..

But if its true. so many months later, I expect to have full body damage on all cars, as well full weather and day night cycles.. Also better and updated AA on graphical side.

Even if it is europe it would still means US would release at the same time while Japan gets it a month or so before us. No matter which way you look at it, the fans get screwed.

It's not really OFFICIAL news till confirmed by PD on their website for Exact date.. Somehow I am not worried.

The interview was made by a Spanish reporter, who contacted the Sony representative in Spain...
Could happen the same thing in UK, or america, so don't think it's just in Portugal, that wouldn't make any sense what so ever.

It's all sony fault, PD is doing a great job, but since sony keeps playing up with them, Kazanuri doesn't know what to say to interviews anymore...I think he's feeling frustrated and lost, keeping polishing up the game...I bet the guys back at PD are playing cars because they are so fed up and bored of the game.
here's a more detailed translation.

We believe that we'll launch this product by fall, before Christmas, although it's not decided yet. I don't advise using the MC but I doubt it*, 'GT 5' is a great hope for Sony, a very important game for our campaign, winch will generate a lot of profit. We would like to get it as soon as possible but we thought to give priority to make it as better as possible. I trust a lot in this game, that we'll launch it this year and that will help show how great the PS3 is.

*Not sure about this sentence.

God damn it, I was hoping I'd get to play this before my postgraduate studies but I guess this either means I don't get to play GT5 or I don't get an MA... Given what Call of Duty almost did to my BA, I'm officially concerned

It's all really quite simple...

Gran Turismo 5 is THE big hitter that will turn the head of anyone even thinking about buying a XBox 360 + Natal + Halo Reach.

I don't trust "business" men from Portugal.. No offense to the real bidness men, or the real men from Portugal.

LOL none taken!
But people are making a mistake, he's not even talking for Portugal, he's just another pinhead from Sony that talks Spanish/Portuguese to delivery the message.

Makes me think...why only him? What about all the other regions representatives from Sony?
If it's real, should point to a late European release, which I believe more in that...I don't this fat bast**** is just trying to get famous by creating rumors, how come others stay quiet and he doesn't?

WHy him? Cause he can't keep his mouth shut. He did it a couple times before and what he said turned out to be true. Now people know to go to him if they want early info.

ok, legit translation:
"We think we'll release this game this Fall, although it's not decided yet. I don't discard the fact that it will use [MC], but I doubt it. GT 5 is a big hope for Sony, a very important game for the company, a game that generates a lot of revenue. We would have liked to get it out earlier, but the priority is to make it as good as possible. We are confident that we will get the game out this year and that it will help consolidate the PS3 as the great console that it is"

might as well take this website off my favorites list until the game is in stores...actually wait

hopefully released earlier in japan.

That's great and all, but Sony decides the release date, not PD.

OK, not even real release date from SONY yet.. this is SOME SONY guy, not the main head..

So untill I see a release date on PD website or SONY website, then it's official.

If this is true, GT5 should be able to utterly annihilate every game in it's field. (Oh i forgot, it already should..)

FFS, the suspense is just losing potential buyers now

There just lies a question. If this news is true, then why would this guy whom we have no idea about be the one to inform us? If it was so sure to be released in fall, then it would've been KY or PD or SCE mentioning it... some really high-authority, valuable source who is involved in the making of the game. Its just a wild (maybe not wild) guess from a Portuguese dude who can hardly spell Gran Turismo 5 without a "D", if u know what I'm saying. ;)

Re:lastest release rumour.
I wonder how many Sony officials are going to cop it at the Academy Finals.I know i'm going to have to bite my lip at the NZ finals tomorow,as much as I want to win,I also want to know when this thing is being released. They should have delayed ANY kind of press release until after the Academy just in case these poor people get harassed by us(me) GT fans.

+1

Everyone is too busy ranting about how GT5 will blow everything away..well, i'm not going to believe **** unless i can actually have a FINISHED PRODUCT infront of me to play. I didn't buy a PS3 to daydream.

When was Prologue's US release date?

If you would have told me then that GT5 wouldn't be on shelves before 2010, I would have called you a silly Xbox fanboy LIAR! Yet here we are. I'm going to keep watching this website's home page for official word on a release date, but no more browsing the forums, no more Youtube videos, no more Prologue, and no more TT demo. It's just too much. I keep getting my heart broken. I'll still buy GT5 whenever it comes out, but I'm sick of this repetitive deflated balloon feeling.

Right now I'm investing about 5 minutes of each day searching for GT5 news. Now it's going to be more like 5 seconds if this news is true. I can't invest any more than that any longer. NO videogame should me sad.

Sony must have really poor communication skills across regional divisions of Sony Computer Entertainment if were are to believe in these CEO's. One says Christmas 2009, another delays it for no reason and the latest one can not give a 100% confirmation of GT5 releasing this year.
