Update 1.07 now up :-D

Size = 47MB

Yes and it sucks. Now we can not trade/gift cars worth 1 million or more. I just tried gifting a car worth shy of 1 million and it would not let me. This must mean there is/are more restrictions to the new trading rules.

Something that was interesting and fun has been restricted. Way to go PD!

PS; I forgot, no new online dealership cars, no new events. Enjoy.

Completely agree, gifting was an absolutely awesome way to enjoy the game, and to be honest for someone just buying the game, to have a friend be able to gift them an expensive car when they start off just enhances the playability of GT5. Now it's nothing. For any nay sayers about people who duplicated cars, well we bought the game, and even pushed friends to buy it because of this great feture, now I won't even bother. If PD thinks this will protect and enhance the gameplay, it won't!!!

This new update 1.07 is just another example of the lackluster offerings dictated by Kaz and his crew @ Polyphony. After taking 6 years to bring GT5 to the consumers I am not impressed with the end product. Kaz could have just upgraded GT4 to HD with chat capabilities and it would have been much better than what we have to settle for now. All the $5,000,000.00 + cars are ONLY "STANDARD" cars?????? The money and experience you gain ANYWHERE in the game is way too minimal and now that they have LIMITED our ability to add cars to our garages, does nothing but upset me tremendously!!! I guess you would have nothing else to do with your life if you expect to save enough money to buy any of the cars worthy of having in the game!!! This does it for me and I'm over this game. I'm really sorry I wasted 100.00 on the collectors edition because with all the changes they have totally messed up the fun for me!!! Kaz and GT5 has never lived up to all the hype and none of the promises were ever delivered to us!!!

Great. They have a broken economy system, so instead of fixing it they remove the things that were making it endurable. Duping allowed a lot of people to play the game the way they wanted to, instead of endlessly grinding. Not to mention removing the opportunity to acquire expensive cars through trades.

I'm sorry PD. You've completely lost touch with reality. This is not what people wanted.

Are PD joking?
This update that block trading is something that offend our legal rights.
They have done it without give us the time to retrieve our cars that we have loan to friends.
In this way for example they made me lost one thing I have paid for. To be clear, I have won the red bull x2010 and gave it to a friend to try it. Now he cannot give it me back and I cannot won it again as my level cannot go back under 35, so I have lost it forever, this is not only unfair, but it's not legal!
PD have to come back on their decision I think.

I think you've had enough beers for one night. *takes beer away*

I agree with the majority, putting a cap on the gift was pd worst decision so far.
So you didn't want us to dup? You gave us no choice when you greatfully reduced the content (comparing to GT4).
At least redeem yourselves by allowing car rewards each time we finish a series & pleasssse put a price on all cars.
Can't gift em can't sell em and can't drive em (that's the next patch maybe, we won't be able to drive them???)...

Just read that the Volkswagen Group is about to buy Porsche. Could be a good thing since there are so many Volkswagens in GT5. Maybe VW can bring us Porsche...

Its true. VW have a majority share in Porche, something like 60 - 80%.

This happend ages ago though, way before GT5 came out.

I heard that Porche are a bit snobby about which games get their rights.

They have been in some really bad games though.

hi,

when GT5-Prologue was around, we'd race a Suzuki Swift (racing soft tyres) against a Ferrari F430 (hard, slippery tyres) around Eiger.. was good fun..

now, with the v1.07 update, rather than using performance points as a true measure of a car's performance, PD have:

[Fixed Issues]
- Performance points (PP), which is an index of a car’s overall performance, is now calculated regardless of your tire selection. You can now set performance point restrictions and tire restrictions separately when you race in a lounge.

what the?? How is this a fix?? tyre selection is a key ingredient in a car's performance, making it independent of tyre selection is wrong.

so, we can race with a performance point rating of 550 per car.. then select racing slicks?? or am I missing something?

someone please tell me I am wrong.. otherwise another black mark against the game.

regards,
p.tannerford

Putting the worst possible tires on a car so it meets PP requirements makes sense to you?

Whatever.

Boost up/lower engine power
Add/remove aero
Add/remove weight

Seems fine to me. Seems close to real racing actually. What series do you know of that hinders stronger cars by making them run the cheapest tires (next step above a donut/space saver spare tire) available at any tire store?

If YOU want to run garbage tires, have at it.

The PP in GT5p was horrible, mostly because it crippled performance cars so some knucklehead could use a Cappuccino or worse against cars designed to go 0-60 in less than 4 seconds on factory tires.

Dave,

that was an example to illustrate a point..

the focus of the post is that Performance Points is a combination of a variety of factors INCLUDING tyres. You can't exclude them.

so, for example, in V1.07, a PP restriction of say, 550 is applied for a race.. you tune a car to 550.. then put on racing soft slicks? to me, that's cheating.

We know the racing slicks ADD a performance capability to the car..

It's not cheating if everyone is using them, if they choose to.

Tire quality downgrading isn't used in real racing to balance out dominating cars. It should never have been in GT5p.

Should Formula One force teams to reduce horsepower when teams are on the optional super softs? Or increase power when teams are on the harder less grippy tires?

I understand what you're getting at.

Personally it bothered me from day one that PP used tires to neuter a great car or put a gimpy car on steroids!

I agree with the patch, everyone on the same tires is the way to go. I also think that the worst thing that PD changed was the need to gain licences in order to progress through the game. I gave a feeling of progression and did to a certain extent prepare you for the next lvl of racing. It also ment that somthing other than mindless grinding was needed to progress.

Yeah but a-spec is so ridiculously short and lacking in content they had to tac on the xp point system to artificially extend the length of time it takes to complete it.

Otherwise, not counting endurance races, you could finish a-spec in a weekend. With the xp point system in place, they had no reason to restrict your progression with the excellent licence test leveling system. Man they screwed GT5 up... :grumpy:

I agree, the licence test system was awesome, now it's meaningless, but because of other issues with GT5. Now, given the chance, they still aren't fixing it.

Am I right in saying that PD have temporarily disabled the gifted car Cr. limit?

They are listening to us.

New vid just released on GTTV. It shows the Toyota FT86 II, driving around photomode localisations (including the parking garage), the car looks to be full premium quality, so maybe DLC?

Wow ! I didn't knew they made a FT-86 II ! That alone is a surprise and the fact that the vid is GT5 generated seems to be a clear sign about DLC. And it's definitely a Premium.

Excellent find !

Could be DLC but also just as likely is its Toyota borrowing GT's assets to produce the footage as they cant do it with the real car,

Lets not forget we've also seen drag racing at dusk on a runway with an aircraft on the runway in one promo video of GT5,

And the original FT86 driving off a truck at a dockyard before GT was released.

These locals and situations have yet to be seen in game, so its by no means a guarantee of anything other than that Toyota has a new FT86.

Really cool video, and that's definitely GT5. I have a PSN card set aside for GT5 DLC, so I hope you are right!
