Why not just wait a couple of weeks and get the one you want? That 4gb is not "for gamers". It's for gift buyers that want to buy little Johnny an Xbox some can play that shooting game with the other 10 year olds.

4gb equals 2 demos. Loads of fun there.

To think that the next gen of consoles is going to have 16gb of HDD space is ridiculous. Especially when the rumor mill says that the gaming companies want to have download only games to eliminate the resale shops.

Of a PS3 was offered in a 4gb, buying a 500gb HDD is less than $100. You can't do that with Micro$oft's proprietary storage system.

My feet are firmly planted on the PlayStation side of this WAR.

Wow, you are waaay off base there my friend. My 4GB with installed hard drive works great with the "other" racing game. And just fyi, no war for me. I enjoy both consoles. They each have their pros and cons.

Because I bought an Xbox only for Forza 3 at the time, so the 4GB of space plus the 16 GB you can put on a external hard drive was enough for me. But then Forza 4 came out and I started using my Xbox more, so I went out and got a hard drive for it.

Anyway, I'm done going off topic.

First of all That CPU sounds like the same as the PS3 but like it is a "16 core" because of the 16 PPEs (Power Processing Elements) and the 128 SPEs (Synergistic Processing Elements). Our PS3 has 1 PPE and 8 SPEs. So 16PPE´s (16 cell processors) X 8 SPE´s = 128 SPEs.
Only that just sounds crazy and way too powerful.:

And that is not even much more powerful than the current if parallel portion of the tasks is about 50% in games. Here is a reminder for all about Amdahl's Law:

Also cell cores are not even symmetric so it might be even worse.

IBM has discontinued the Cell, so it's moot. They have carried forward the lessons learned from, and some of the features of, the Cell into their newer POWER7 chips, which is still my bet for what will power the "PS4". This makes more sense when you remember that all the development "pipelines", on the software / programming side, for all three current consoles, are geared to Power Architecture already.

IBM did well cornering the console market this "generation", I doubt they want that to slip - the Wii-U is an IBM-powered beastie, too, so they're still "in the game", so to speak.

In my Spanish version of the GTA is appearing recently a message saying "The cars and tracks are now available for download in GT5."

It is obviously wrong but it appears that Twing Ring Motegi is not part of a paid DLC but will be obtained as free prize to overcome the Academy.

I think it is now a given that we'll get Motegi as a prize on July 4th.
Question is : will it come with all its variations (East/West/Full Course & Oval) ?

The announcement has to be delayed though.

The longer they delay the announcement though the closer it will be to release. It's a no win situation.

Last guardian got it right.

I wouldn't call it a given that we'll get Motegi as a price, aka for free.
Might as well be just a taster in GT-Academy and become available after that as DLC you have to buy.
They did use DLC tracks like Spa in Seasonal Events as well remember?
Could be either, free or buyable.

If we get Motegi free it will be free DLC. It won't be free only as a prize for the GTA simply because not everyone has (official) access to it.

I'm abit skeptical on all variations. Recall that the earthquake had reportidly done damage to the Oval so assuming PD scanned the track last year, I wouldn't expect the Oval. Of course, there's also the chance that it was already scanned a year before said disaster, but would just be cautiously optimistic at this point just in case.

To my memory, Spa was in a seasonal after it was released for DLC.

Are you expecting something other than a GT4 model upscale?

Where am I saying I expect that? I clearly said "assuming" so I'm not in anyway suggesting they are or thats what I "expect".

Yes I know, but my point was that you didn't need to have bought the DLC to compete in those Spa Seasonals, making it perhaps a taster to persuade people to buy it.
Maybe Motegi in GT-Academy is treated similar, I don't doubt we're getting it for GT5, but I'm not sure it'll be free DLC or not.

Found a maintenance notice on the Gran-Turismo web page.

Says:
The online service of Gran Turismo 5 will undergo maintenance during the following hours:

Start: 01/06/2012 03:00 GMT
Finish: 01/06/2012 04:00 GMT

I think it's the first time I have seen a maintenance on a friday, as far as I can remember they have normally been on Tuesdays and Thursdays
