Spageti just wants that maintenance happens every day.

I agree with him :)

Maintenance nirvana. An age where maintenance in all it's goodness bestows euphoria and next level zen.

Maintenance grants piece and good will to all.

And a few cars too.

All bow to the greatness that is maintenance.

Person 1: In death, a member of Project Gran Tursimo has a name. His name is Maintenance.
Person 2: His name is Maintenance?

KY: Come on guys, this isn't funny. Stop it.

KY: This is all over with.
All: His name is Maintenance:

Pardon my ignorance but could someone explain to me the inside joke that is "maintenance"

Watch the next maintenance thread, and all the wild speculation that ensues.

Maintenance. We talking 'bout maintenance.

Not the game, but maintenance.

"What's that? Ah -- Maintenance? Don't talk about -- maintenance?! You kidding me?! Maintenance?! I just hope we can win a race! Another race!"

Maintenance actually it's like the Higgs Boson of Gran Turismo.

Great answers to be found in it, but until now just a load of speculations and meanwhile, some good results here and there.

This is exactly why the lack of solid information about GT's future sucks. Nothing to talk about. Nothing to get excited about. Meanwhile the Forza fanbase is going to get Forza Horizon this fall while PD may throw a few more Nissan Leafs our way

Hey, leaf PD alone! :sly:

On a serious note, yeah...I would love some news but at the same time I love the speculation. Sounds ridiculous but I actually like when the fanbase gives their speculation (unless it is totally OTT) and then seeing what we are actually gonna get.

I think at the next major game show, "you're gonna see some serious ****" as Doc Brown would say. At least I hope so. :ouch:

Is Forza Horizon really aimed at the FM "fanbase"?
Seems like a market broadening approach, leveraging developer ties to synergistically action a paradigm shift in the IP to provide a more visceral representation of the freedom of driving that consumers (that's you) are craving, but has so far been missing in the franchise, to me.

It's not even being made by Turn 10. T10 is licensing assets and their name. I'd say no, it's not for the FM target demo. They are going after the Test Drive and NFS, now that they have established themselves in the sim genre.

Hopefully Kaz is paying attention to gamer's like of open world type of racing.

I remember saying not long before FM4 launched that I could sense in it a longing for the market that NFS has left idle. I guess Microsoft decided to stop messing about and just steal it outright! :P

Kaz mentioned a free roam mode sometime after GT5 released, so he's at least been thinking about it. You can bet, should it come, that GT will do it slightly differently, of course. (Cue "Chah, it'll suck!" comments.)

If I'm not mistaken, Kaz would like to do an RPG type of game. Have it be free roaming within the FULL world is Gran Turismo, could be pretty cool! I can't see Kaz wanting to do a Final Fantasy or Fallout type of RPG. The guy lives and breathes racing.

Do you mean he wants to do a Open World GT with RPG Elements?

No, he actually was thinking of making an unrelated RPG game (no cars), not sure this was the same game he meant when he also mentioned being interested in exploring the concept of life and death in a videogame.

It's a bit funny when you see a lot of people objecting to any expansion of the GT-games (free roam, including bikes, etc.) as they fear it might take time away from the main content, when he's openly considering doing something entirely different and completely unrelated at the same time.

GB: More than 10 years after Gran Turismo’s debut, what will you record from Polyphony Digital’s evolution?

KY: I will probably surprise you but, since more than 10 years I design Gran Turismos we never told ourselves that we were the best, the numbers one. As far as I search in my memories, I can’t remember a moment when we felt satisfied with what we’ve achieved because we always want to make it better. That being said, maybe that when everything will be over, the day I will not make video games anymore, I will feel this satisfaction… but this is not in the near future.

GB: During the Gamescom, you told us about the possibility of making a RPG. Would it be a Kazunori-style Shenmue?

KY: (laugh) Indeed it could resemble Shenmue, just because it resemble my own tastes. But if I really had to make another game, I would like it to include how characters live and die. To introduce a true life cycle and evolution.

He also mentioned he would like to see a game created which investigates “the way people live and die, how they live and how they should come to terms with death.” Other news blogs are, unsurprisingly, sensationalizing this portion of his speech, but it’s actually nothing at all new – he’s discussed his interest in exploring the cycle of life before, all the way back in this 2009 interview while talking about role-playing games.

Eurogamer: Given what you've just said, do you see Gran Turismo as your life's work? Is this what you're doing for the foreseeable future - or do you see yourself turning around some day and saying, "You know what, I want to make an RPG"?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Well, I've got a lot of ideas for one, so I'd like to be able to say some day, let's make an RPG... But there are a lot of things that we think are still insufficient in GT5. There's so much more to do still. I don't think it'll be any time soon that I'll be able to consider something like that!

CBS: When you would not have been such a motorhead, which game-genre would you then design?

KY: Before I made the first Gran Turismo, I sent in some 100 concepts for various videogames, from adventures, to RPG's, to puzzle games, pretty much all genres were represented. But when I had to choose...recently I thought about making a game, which is about life, death and the general being of the human, with it's meanings.

Ok thx. Did you know that some people at PD did a Shooter called Omega Boost at the beginning?

Yoshida said the teams will focus on their genre. That means PD racing only.

thx

I have tried about 5 times to access the Trial Mountain TT. Each time, I have had to quit the game or reboot the PS3 because it froze before going to the track.

I think most F4 players will like it though. The same way I liked Driv3r SF, fun arcade game with interesting physics. Actual contact of four tires is modelled and not the usual arcade physics where your steering input goes to yaw a car by magic hand. Horizon however looks very "stupid", or simple. This could work in angry birds way or fail to interest after 10min play:)
