Are you kidding? That looks anything but real.
Reflections are artificial.As in GT3,4,5p...
No cars are reflected and reflections itself is wrong. How hell in reality you can see track reflected on windshells (glass) (sorry for eng!)

I DON'T MEAN that this looks bad. It's AWESOME,BEAUTIFUL.But reflections are not realistic.

with REALLY REALLY waxed and cleaned and polished glass obviously :P

Reflections of the track are of course as any other reflections based on where the camera is located, so reflections of the track in the windshield are not at all unlikely from that angle. PD has done an awesome job with their graphics engine, extremely impressive stuff.

Sorry :D I'm not sure if the angles are right, but at least if they were, you could see the road.

Any more questions?

(and Stonemonkey is spot on about the bonnet reflection reflection - and the subsequent reflection reflection reflection)

Sorry :D I'm not sure if the angles are right, but at least if they were, you could see the road.

The hood should be visible too in the reflection along the lower edge of the windshield but since you can't draw an object into it's own cubemap and this isn't raytracing it's pretty difficult to get that in there.

Help me with english )))
I try to say that "angle of reflection is equal to angle of light falling".
So we can't see white stripes on road that are close to the car.Not that angle. (<- i MAY wrong!!!)
And again i think even camera angle is not considered. To be simple: that's reflection map. (GT3 have those encoded in MPEG2 and played back in real-time to save processing power).
DON'T get me wrong - i'm not against it!!!It's nice "cheat" that save lot of power!

It WASN'T supposed to be realistic :D

Sorry, wasn't meaning there was anything wrong with your drawing. But from your drawing, and Famine's pic backs this up, is that the hood should be part of the reflection which in the GT5 vid it isn't. I don't see it as much of an issue as it's only something that could be dealt with by raytracing or by some rough hacks which probably would be more trouble than it's worth.

What is the probleme ?? For me it's normal 3D reflection, so the car reflect what she can do reflect normaly with her angles of lines design into the game building.

All dépend of caméra angle and design of car.

Frankly, the last thing i'm worried about is the accuracy of reflections on the car's exterior, as PD generally get's it spot on ( although maybe better than real life circustances, a "problem" i can live with ).
Do wonder however how accurate it will be from within the interior view with possible dynamic weather changes and the low sun for instance on Twin Ring Motegi, maybe fully functioning sun visors ( or darkened helmet visors/sunglasses ) may fix that. ;)

They allready got differently toned windshields, so toned helmet visors should be possible, but are more or less a matter of preference. I think Yamauchi will keep things the way it is at the moment. Other than toning the visors, PD will probably work on the lighting in a way that you will not be blinded by the sun too often.

As far as reflections go, i thought they were realtime, so every change to the lighting and the inviroment will be reflected properly. I don't know if they were cutting corners here and there, but if their reflections are true real time, this shouldn't be a problem. I just hope the PS3 is up to the task, because GT5 will be pretty demanding on the visual side, even without the weather effects and a full 16 car grid.

The overall performence is good so far, but we have not yet seen starts from a standing grid, no 16 race cars on the track (though this could just be a matter of choice, other than poor performence), no realtime deformation, no weathereffects, no splitscreen and no onlineraces.
I don't think we can consider them done, just because GT5 Prologue allready had some of those features, since they seem to have changed their engine in many ways.

I have no doubt, that PD will release a superb product, but as of now, we only get little information on the game. All the recent news are more about cars and tracks, rather than features. Nightracing is there, but there is only a trailer, without any additional information. Is there day and night transition, or just a choice you have prior to a race? Is the damage shown to the Subaru on the Nordschleife the final damagemodel? (though I dont think so, since there were no scratches on the car, not even on the parts that were hanging loose.)

There are many questions to be answered in the near future and Iam looking foreward to the day I find a big headline in the news section, telling me that the final featurelist was released and confirmed to be real.

Until that day I try to be patient. There is nothing else to do, besides playing other great games, that currently consume more time than I wanted to spend on them.
(God of War 3, Final Fantasy 13, Supercar Challenge, Heavy Rain, Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising (PC) and some others)
This year shapes up to be great :D

Lovin how the flowers move when a car drives past, this vid is great, should be on the main news page soon.AI looks good with the fighting also! Any more new vids Coiler?

I don't get it. Which one is the AI car? The Yellow Hat Supra or the Petronas SC430?

EDIT: ok!! The Yellow Hat is the AI
wow nice fighting at 2:02 and 2:10-2:16

6ix: The guy drove decently and yet couldn't catch the AI. Nice. Also, the 'ring is so bumpy now!:)
Coiler: Cool vid and awesome camera work/angles!👍:D That flowers/grass whiplash effect is a nice touch.;)
