And hope it has the optional aluminium four-spoke steering wheel?

That, but mostly so I can hook up an eyetoy for headtracking and look down and to the right at the single greatest shifter in the history of cars.

For those who don't know what could be so special about a shifter:

It's a work of art.

Anyway, is anyone interested in our "garages" looking like this? Because of the polygon limits of the PS3, we'll probably have dozens of these garages (folders) to sort our cars with. This is something I asked for several years ago for GT5. I really like this concept and the way it looks.

I am interested in a large garage, but don't really understand about polygon restrictions in GT5. I'd love to have a show room-kind of hall, where I cuold arrange my collection the way I want to. (This has probably been discussed about somewhere earlier in the thread. If so, apologies).

The PS3 can display something ridiculous, like 250 million untextured polygons, I can't remember the proper figure. With no other graphics, no background or anything, just the cars, I think we could have all the cars in GT5, one version, in an area at once. But then when you figure in the graphics of the garage, textures, lighting and shading effects etc, what you can have in the same area on screen drops quite a bit. I believe you can still see pop-up in some replays, so I'm not sure how many cars you could have maximum in one garage.

As for maminimax's replays, I really like how the Ferrari makes a move on the straight after the Viper passes him, as if thinking of making a pass of his own, then falls back into line when it doesn't seem doable.

I'd like to be able to walk around the garage checking out my cars like you can in PGR. Especially if I can also walk to an arcade machine and play a Geometry Wars clone.

I've suggested somewhere else dividing it into sections, whereby if you've got, say 1500 different cars and one garage could house a hundred cars tightly stacked you'll need 15 or more of those sections in the game.
It would be very nice in my opinion to choose which car goes into which section creating all sorts of possible themes and options.
Maybe it will also be easier to navigate and more clear than all cars at once.

That would be a dream come true for me. Then it would be interesting also to hear how people have arranged their cars, maybe even visit friend's garages online. Please PD, give me some freedom to arrange my collection.

I once again found two pictures, both from Prologue, showing reversed shadows on the same track (HSR)

Here's the HSR as we've always seen it, (shadows point >)

and here's the HSR from the garage, however the shadows are backwards from what the top image shows. (shadows point <)

All this shows is that they wanted the garage scene look more interesting. Give it tons of sunlight and it looks amazing. Lets not forget that one is probably gameplay while the garage is just part of a CGI video. I think your post hurt your point more than it helped.

But if the sun was over the building or on the left, the rays wouldn't look like that, would they? The area where the door is would be a shadow.

Yes, imagine having 15 or even more of these sections, although more in PD-style visually, whereby you were the one deciding which cars were put next to each other as well as chosing which sector they went into.

Yes, but the problem is that it's not a gameplay shot.

Yes, I know, I said it wasn't. That still doesn't mean the lighting would be unrealistic.

And as well as a different style the garage sections could me much smaller in size if the cars were put closer together.

Looking at the picture, I can easily see all 1000+ cars being shoved into one hangar or garage. There is only a handful of cars that are fully visible in high resolution. The others are just smaller, low res silhouettes. If the in game shots were done as the real picture you showed, all cars can be packed into one building. Now, how cumbersome would navigating through those 1000+ cars be, is another thing.
I still think the garage will be more like a CLASS selection screen followed by a screen containing each car in the class. Like the demo car selection screen with SUPERCAR, PROTOTYPE, RACING, and on and on. To me it just makes more sense to have it that way.

I've discussed this in another thread and to my guess is "last 10 driven cars" or even "most driven cars", the garage would work as a quick access feature in my opinion, they wouldn't put effort to make a nice garage like the one in CES demo to drop it from the final game. I like your idea analog, but sounds unlikely.

The best garage ever in a game was in Sega GT 2002. There would only be one car at a time in it, sure, but you could cover the walls with pictures from your races, your shelves with trophies, the rest of the garage with as many potted plants as your little heart desires.

GT5: The Real Garage Simulator :yuck: ;)

The video is old but dubbing a soundtrack on it is new. I'd prefer it if he didn't say he did it by himself in the video description just to mess with people lol

Man, that's a bummer, really got excited, now i feel betrayed.:ouch:

Btw owen.c93, thanks for pointing out it is just a false dub using real life sounds.

Spreading someone's faults and bringing them up over and over again is immoral and I think you should learn that.

I never lied, I played a joke on this thread since it was really dry heck! even right now nothings going on. You should be happy that I brought a little bit of entertainment to this thread.

Some members even found it funny I mean can't a guy have a laugh once in a while or is that a crime as well? I actually even got people thinking of new ideas.

There were many mixed reactions and those who got really really really offended only got offended because they/you thought I was legit when it was obvious I wasn't.

If what I said is giving you sleeping problems then that's your problem.

....you broke it. Don't try claiming you didn't lie. You clearly did and do so knowingly, what you 'intent' was behind it is totally irrelevant.

Let me be clear in regard to this, do it again and an infraction will be issued.

This line of discussion ends now.
