I doubt this is the case, PD would issue a statement of intent, and its upto Ferrari (example) to sign it.
It's a negotiation process but it's the manufacturers who hold the playing cards. You only have to look at the damage models in Forza 2 to see how the manufacturers have influenced thier reputation in the game. Some cars get damaged a fair bit, bumpers falling off etc. Then you get others like, for example Ferrari who didn't allow any of that. Different manufacturers will be more flexible than others but at the end of the day PD can't just dictate wha they want and have the manufacturers all at thier feet.

Yep, in license negotiation devs have no (or at least very little) control or power over the situation. Ferrari say what they want their cars to be like in-game, and that's how it is. You can try to negotiate with them, but in the end, they hold the cars, not the devs. The customers demand real cars (particularly in GT5, GTA series doesn't matter as I don't think anyone is fussed about real cars in GTA), so they know that if they want Ferrari in, and Ferrari would attract many to the game, they have to obey the demands of Ferrari.

There are ways around in other types of genres, as not all license holders are that fussed (sometimes :D Quite rare, but it can be possible). Not with car manufacturers, who have such well built brands.

If only half of the manufactures have damage then hopefully we can turn the feature off. Seeing only some of the cars with damage is dissapointing. I am all for damage but the demo with the Subaru is too distracting.

Of course, I'd turn the feature on for time trials and rally.

It's all or nothing for me.

Interesting to note: the release date on Amazon has shifted to December 29th. I find that to be an odd release date, myself, but then again the way the GT series has typically been delayed...!

I guess we'll see for sure in a few days at the TGS!

It's a retailer release date. It could be the 40th December for all that it matters.

Gran Turismo is an official Sponsor of the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, I personally expect a bunch of GT5 details to be saved for this show also. Personally I think too many people are expecting too much from TGS and we will see more at TMS. :)

Would be a marketing shocker if you release more info at a motorshow rather than a specific gaming expo.

That was pretty much the case at TMS 2007 with GT5P.

But I meant "see more" as in "more to be seen" (additional info) not that we will have more info (quantity) released at TMS.

Well... while I expect a big showing at the Motor Show, I can't see that SONY will want to keep any big news back from TGS. With the Forza 3 demo being released then and F3 hitting shelves a few weeks after, I fully expect a big roar from Kazunori-dono and GT5. Lots of interviews, lots of details, lots of pics and videos.

The more the you expect the more likely you will be dissapointed. KY/PD and Sony work in mysterious ways with the GT franchise these days.

Not saying we wont see much at TGS, because I think we will get a good fill, but the way many are talking it's like we will see everything.

Ah, get you know. As in, "we'll get bigger stuff at TGS, but also stuff at TMS"?

Yeah pretty much, we will get a good amount of news at TGS but not everything, still more will trickle as time flows before release and considering the last TMS (2007 TMS, is bi-annual event) we got quite a lot of GT5P info and car unveils.

The link I proved also has some info on the whole section of floor space dedicated to Gran Turismo.

The new GT website is up. Currently we're only able to access the Asian pages. Thankfully for us English speaking folk, the main language of Hong Kong, Malaysian, Singaporean and Thailand websites are in English, but it appears to have a little less news features than the Japanese page.
