Hi all,

This as the value you want it to have but can be an indication of something more substantial...

There's a console game shop in a large shopping mall in Lisbon taking pre-orders for NFS:Shift, FIFA 10 and... GT5! On the pre-ordering box on the shelfs states as a footnote: "forecasted release date: December 5th" (or 4th, not sure now...)
 
No the december 4th rumour has been coming from a French website and a Spanish I think, along with the bundle info.

Here at Porto, in my local GAME store, there is also a pre-ordering going for GT5, with ''release date'' at november 30th and they even got the cover ! oh noes xD

Olá

The cover is the same, but the date is different. However, on the photo you've placed, on the yellow round badge it states "Dezembro 2009 (December 2009)" although the red letters before aren't visible. What did they say?

yes the cover is more recent than the clip they featured with the release dates for the upcoming games (99% wrong)

When i saw the cover i thought they had it taken out of the box art competition here :)
 
Of course it's not real, it's missing some key features of a PS3 cover. Just a placeholder, but shows that the shops are getting quite confident. Remind me, cause I haven't been watching the "scene" a year ago or so - were they getting so agitated before?
 
Btw. another reason why this cover cant be real: The new PS3 boxarts look different.^^

EDIT: LOL ive just noticed the red plastic box, oh im tired. :lol:
 
What Kind of a mong makes a fake cover like that and puts it in a game shop. a 5 year old could get the font more acurate than that.
 
I think I know where the 25th of september came from:

Boas pessoal,

I see the exact same cover in May at Game Store in Algarve.

That a marketing strategie of the game shops to attract and capture the attention of buyers to invest some $ $ $ on pre-booked before leaving the game to the market.

Just been down to my local Game store in Scotland to pick up Dirt2 (which is very good by the way)
Anyhow, I got chatting to the manager of the store about GT5 and according to him it's been finished for a year but the powers that be just want refine and tweak it, which is fair enough.
However, I havn't heard or read anything about this next bit so i apologise if you all have, The interesting thing the manager of the store raised was that the game will "apparently" only ship with 400 cars BUT over the lifespan of the game there will hanve many DLC releases. Which the manager reckons will take the total amount of cars to about 10,000. He also said he would bet his house on a December release.

However all this is purely speculation and one man's opinion but it certainly put a smile on my face :)

Sorry, what was the number of eventual cars? TEN-THOUSAND? I wouldn't bet on it. The chances of that are identical to a white Christmas here (I'm not making it up).

I belive the december release part, but only 400 cars with the release? I dont want to belive that...

Sounds like he got the info from here and then got it all mixed up/exagerated.
- The leaked list mentioned 1000 cars at launch. DLC is pretty much confirmed also, but 10,000 is unrealistic IMO.
- We know it "could be released anytime, just being tweaked" but doubt it's been finished for a year.
- Sony's information at GC stated Q4 2009 release, and most indicators suggest december release.

It's already been confirmed that there will be more cars than that. And I don't see the total number even including DLC to come close to 10,000. Not only would that make PD's work for GT6 a hell of a lot harder by making such an enourmous ammount of content, but I don't think there are eough man hours in a decade for PD's staff to model 10k car to GT5 standard.

Game store employees often know nothing more than us. When I bought Prologue I had a Gamestop employee tell me it would upgrade to the full GT5 through patches and add-ons. I knew he was wrong, and time has proven it, but it just shows that these guys know very little and being the lowest level employee in the gaming industry are even more susceptible to rumor than us. They are likely to hear rumors that never make it out to the gaming public.
 
The box art is neatly done because it was stolen from a user created box art here at GTPlanet.....
