A new topic to debate, as 3D trees and reverselights are in, realistic flies splattering apart on the windscreen.......;)

Damn chase cam who invented that?

Whoever did, I am glad. Bumper cam gives little to no feedback, so for those using a pad (So no force feedback) it is very useful as it gives a lot of visual feedback.

Cockpit cam is preferable, but Bumper cam is pretty much a no-no unless you're using a wheel. In my opinion of course.

About the Tire/PP argument, I think that in both online and offline gameplay, there will be tire restrictions as there was in GT4 and in some parts of GT5P. But because the races are generally quite short (i.e. < 10 laps) the difference in the tire life is pretty much irrelevant, so they have to incorporate tire choice into the PP system, otherwise everyone will use R4-5 tires for pretty much every event. There has to be a downside to using those softer tires other than tire life. The only other solution would be to lengthen all races so tire life played a greater role, but then you alienate the casual audience who prefer to run 2-3 lap races rather than 10+.

You know what GT5 needs with it's all new roll over physics?

Reliant Robin

Take that beast on the Nurburgring.

Funny, because every time PD gives us the F2007, it's on N1 tires

I've always thought the F2007 in 5P had it's own specific tires, just with the N1 label on them so they didn't have to add another tire label to the list only to be used on the one car.

As for the windshield label, that's a stamp by the glass manufacturer. Go look in the bottom corner of the front window on any actual car.

The fact they included it in the game shows the attention to detail on the premium cars.

After watching the latest episodes of Top Gear, I certainly want it in

I JUST got done watching that episode. I couldn't stop laughing. He did a wheelie in it too

Seriously though, if it can replicate the physics of the Reliant, that means the physics in GT5 are top notch.

Does anybody remember how long it supposedly takes a PD employee to make a single GT5 car?

And don't they have around 1,000,000 polygons each? Or it closer to 500,000? 200,000?

~250-500k.
I don't know how long it takes. Anyway, Forza 3 showroom models have "1 million" polygons, but that's because they use "tesselation" which basically just adds polygons to smooth things out. It only does that for the showroom models though, not in game.

No way.

This tire thing is pure elitism.

If we are talking about realism, Normal tires would blow up from overheating after 2 or 3 laps. They are not made for racing.

There´s a reason why Racing tires are called Racing tires.

I´m ok with giving options, but against locking up certain cars to certain tires.

Ps: i guess it´s a moot point since PD does not know how to differenciate tires. In prologue you can put N tires on the F1 2007... If N tires are street tires, then i don´t know what they were thinking.

I don't think it's purely elitist to want a proper tire for specific cars. Other than providing some semblance to the feel of the car, you also get a much realistic lap times.

Actually, most people I know actually recommend the N1 on the F2007 since it gives the car the most realistic feel especially with the amount of downforce you get from the car.

His point was that it is elitist to want pure realism. You should always have a choice of a range of tires for all users.

What i meant by elitism, is that notion that we should use awful tires just because it makes the game harder and more realistic.

It´s not always the case. sometimes it´s not like that at all.

The whole N, S, R thing is a mess. We should just have names of real tires, i agree that the F1 is a different case, and that´s why it´s so ugly to see a F1car with "normal" tires.

Just put the real name and we´re fine.

What i said before still stands, racing a normal car with street legal econo tires will only result in flat tires and accidents. They are not made for racing.

In regards to the top gear reliant episode, as I am from Sheffield i live next to where they did the filming and saw the whole thing whilst Clarkson was there. Laughed my arse off seeing it!

With the introduction of weather, I wonder if you can change to wets in an F1 car in the game? Would be interesting, especially with a working pit crew

nope they are actual models. And forza don't use tesselation.

1 Mln poly cars hand crafted

That part of the episode was hilarious!!

I don't think Forza 3 has 1 million polygons. GT5 cars have about 200,000 - 300,000 polygons.
Nope,gt5 cars have about 500k polygons!!
@analog
my bad!sorry

I already checked,It was posted in the damage 3D a couple of days a go!
is it viewable now??

great pic. I think this is to show what will happen if you try the "bumper braking" method. You can clearly see a big 'ol dent in the RX-7's door. and a bunch of dents on the 370Z. Very nice.

Agreed. It is a great pic, and it's not even November yet.
