Why would they go through all that trouble to make the online part state of the art, yet only make it so you and a couple people on your friends list could use it? There is a 'lock' icon in the screenshot on the left, next to the flag icon. I would assume this means you have the option to make the room public or private.

Wonder if we can be able to disable the PP (Performance Points).

Maybe a noob question but is split-screen online a possibility?
Having a rival/teammate physically next to you whilst also competing with others at the same time.
Maybe Red Bull taught them a few things about this.;)

Yeah!!

2 Player online??

Would be cool for serious players. But I fear it would be abused by punters. Imagine playing against two, co-ordinated punters :nervous::yuck:

Well that's why you turn damage ON. That way they slam into you at 150 miles an hour they, along with you, are out of the race. More them then you if you pick the right car.

Yes but the meaning of words or combination of words do change, initially it may have meant ( or still means ) coaches but gran turismo is Italian for grand tourer as the combination of those words take on a new meaning.
In the same way perhaps that everyone knows a Ferrari or Fiat called Barchetta means it's a spyder although the literal translation of barchetta is little boat.
Yeah I was being sarcastic. I thought it was obvious that google translate is not the most reliable option.

Wait... A 'Tuned' 370Z with R1's only 511 PP? I would peg those specs at least 615-620.

It's safe to assume they've overhauled the PP system, probably so the really fast cars (such as the Group C racers, as well as other dominant cars like the Speed 8 etc) would be closer to 1000pp.

That would also be to accommodate the lower spec'd cars, something like the Benz patent wagon would have a pp rating of 1 (the 3 wheeler maybe 0pp). The lowest car in Prologue was something like 300pp?

I hope we can use something other than the stupid Forza-inspired PP system though. I'd Love to limit cars based oh, I don't know...Horsepower.

A 200 HP Mustang will be no match for a 200 HP Elise.

The point system is there to balance out those factors. You got to put weight, tires, and things like suspension into the equation.

It's a bit off in Prologue, so hopefully they fix it. The 550pp RWD online event right now is a prime example of how off it is.

The thing that bothers me is some racers will use R tires and others S tires. In GT5 you can probably make all racers use a specific tire EX only S tires I think that will balance out online races. For 550P race IMO R tires are over kill.

Using R tires basically forces you to use the Clio or Elise in the 550pp race. Some of us have more fun with other cars that can only use S tires, unless weight is added and power dropped. That kills the advantage of using the R tires.

So then just use R tires...

For 550pp? I don't care about winning that much where i have to run R tires in a low 550PP. Its just overkill IMO.

👍

I know this video isn't new but I couldn't help noticing how realistic the smoke looks here! and also the reverse lights haha FINALLY PD 👍 And also towards the end starting at around 1:30 you can catch a glimpse at what appears to be a loose back bumper in the lambo :)

To do so you would have to add significant weight and reduce power. Making the car no faster than it was with S tires.

Maybe it's just me, but this doesn't make sense. While I do agree that using other cars is more fun, but as I said above adding weight and reducing power just gives the R tire guys the same advantage.

Not with all cars the clio, lotus, rx-8 are example they don't come with alot of power in the first place so those cars don't take a huge hit for upgrading to R tires, and R tires make a huge difference between S tires. Those players who use R tires in 550PP seem like they don't let of the gas racing on the track online.

Kaz mentioned on psp GT that when youre doing multiplayer the game will assess your skill level and place you in a car that will make it a fairer race... would you think this is a good idea to even the playing field or do you not feel its right to be handicapped for being good at the game. I ask because theres every reason why such a feature could be included in GT5.
