Unfortunately it seems like it's only for you and your friends..... No public lobbies :(

So let me get this straight. They talk about the cool social features of this game for you and your friends, and just because they didn't metion the complete online function you post this?:indiff:

EDIT -

Kaz - "We're finally going to have a complete online system"

"The level of precision we've achieved [in GT5] is actually more suited to the next generation of machines."

"The detail that goes into a premium model [has] gone beyond the level of the current PlayStation."

'GT5 accurately models mechanical and cosmetic damage to an absurd degree, and whilst the classic models will buckle and crumple, those newer models will near-disintegrate'.

And people will still find something to complain about. I can see it now.

There is always something to complain you know :banghead:

:scared:

So from now on, we can no longer complain, nor give praise to Kaz...

What are we going to do on GTP from now on until Nov ?? :scared:

We can pretend GT5 is being made by Turn10. Then we can complain all we want without having to worry about anything.

Right. It's Italian for coaches. Good old google translate clearing everything up. 👍

Yes but the meaning of words or combination of words do change, initially it may have meant ( or still means ) coaches but gran turismo is Italian for grand tourer as the combination of those words take on a new meaning.
In the same way perhaps that everyone knows a Ferrari or Fiat called Barchetta means it's a spyder although the literal translation of barchetta is little boat.

This is the GTR Proto from GT5:P, clearly has tinted windows, but the quality is good. Hoping to be the same quality in standard cars.

The Proto, when initially released at the Tokyo Show, had tinted windows. This is because at the time, much like the M5 Concept that BMW showed a few years earlier, there was no working cockpit. The interior shot posted elsewhere in this thread was from the 2001 Concept.

Hoping for it to be the quality in Standard cars is ignoring the obvious actual levels in the Standard video. Something tells me we might not even see the Proto in the full version of GT5; really, there's no need for it anymore. It didn't have a cockpit view because there wasn't one to draw on!

Why would they go through all that trouble to make the online part state of the art, yet only make it so you and a couple people on your friends list could use it? There is a 'lock' icon in the screenshot on the left, next to the flag icon. I would assume this means you have the option to make the room public or private.

Good spot 👍

I find it highly unlikely that GT will come without public and private lobbies. It's probably the single largest piece of feedback that PD got from prologue. Plus the fact Turn10 got backlash from the online community for removing the public lobby feature for Forza 3. I know they (PD) say they don't look at their competition, but that is a complete lie. You always keep an eye on your competition.

IF PD makes it so public PD created events, ala Prologue, only run every 15 mins, then you can have everyone concentrated into fewer races. Plus it looks like anyone who enters a race before that start time can drive on the track and practise/qualify until the race starts, judging by the "to race start" at the top of the screen

This would make it much like iRacing

The fact sheet is what made me worry

RACE AGAINST THE WORLD, ONLINE
· Online racing evolves in Gran Turismo 5 with robust racing options that are shaping up to deliver the deepest online racing experience available.
· Players can join in on public races featuring up to 16 players at once with text and voice chat, or host private races with lobbies supporting up to 32 players per lobby.

This would imply public races don't allow for 32 player lobbies...

I wouldn't expect the public races to support 32 players, as that makes the most sense for a private room, where all friends get together organized and can be used for enduro races/spotters/teams I'm guessing. The standard 16 players for public rooms seems like a good number, as more than that would get kinda hectic with a bunch of randoms.

Edit: You could be right, but it doesn't make that much sense for this awesome lobby system with all these options, to be setup for only private rooms, as alot of people playing will be solo and not have a ton of friends to play with.

I think you guys are setting yourself up for deception once again...

You are getting it all wrong about the 32 "players".

Whether the race is public OR private, the maximum number of cars/players will always be 16 on a track no matter what (except for specific in-game race of 12 or 8 or less)

but NO you will not be able to race with 32 of your friends.

What the 32 number indicates is the amount of people you can chat and talk to and share a private room with.

You can have 32 of your friends invited into a private room... but only 16 of your will be racing each time.

:sly:

There are certainly a lot of settings. Looks like you can regulate and change every aspect of the race. From Power levels to max weight, to even what tires everyone uses. Looks like you can also select how many people your racing against and then ad AI drivers to the race. (Image racing 8 real people online with another 8 AI drivers?)

It looks pretty intense and awesome. Can't wait to actually check out what all those buttons do.

So far I see, Drivetrain, power, weight, and tire restrictions (don't know what the P and the PS are for) There's the Damage option, and a few others.

Well i am glad you clearly understood it from the start, but
it seems others might misunderstand it and confused it.

so i just wanted to make sure none of your feelings get hurts...

After all these months I can't stopt thinking about the track temperature and weather on this shot (and GT5P menu...).
No I definitely won't be disappointed ;).

Yeah that is what I wanted to say no way can it handle 32 players at once :scared:

The thing is is that a max of 16 drivers on a track, while 16 others can convere and watch the race. I think you all should look in the news section, the first one. Not hard to see.
