About a month ago at a little known "Music-Video" awards presentation ceremony, a modestly-talented performer appeared on stage and politely interrupted proceedings with a suggestion that the people presenting the award were perhaps giving it to the wrong person. He opined that, an artist known as Beyonce Knowles had produced a film clip to accompany her song that was, in fact, of a quality the likes of which the world had not seen. The underlying implication was that the basis for this flawed decision was indeed an obvious racist, bigoted sentimentality and that he represented a cultural leader, a "spearhead" an ongoing struggle to heal the ugly scars of racism so all people, no matter their colour or creed can live in peace in harmony.
Most people just thing he was being an callous, opportunistic, stupid jerk though, and so an internet meme was born.
