I just came from DigiExpo, it didn't seem like there was anything new content and graphics-wise, but it felt like the friction of the walls had increased a lot from GT5P. I never played the Tokyo version, but that's the impression it gave me.

**THE FOLLOWING IS RANDOM**

I'm prepared to wait til March. but honestly, there must be some pretty damn bored people on this Forum. look how many wish lists are popping up lol.

Quote “Yes it will have a track editor. You will be able to rebuild a track from scratch or edit the tracks that are already put in Gran Turismo 5.”

It may not be true.. but lets hope that it is.

Wish I could speak Japanese!

There's something new on the jp gran turismo site..
something about an event the 14th of november..
and it has to do with a special gran turismo site : gt > real...
but the site is only in japanese,
and don't think you can translate it...

A track editor is the last thing GT5 needs. There are already very important stuff they have to work on, like the sounds, damage, improving physics and even the weather and daytime stuff. A track editor is just a bonus.

I wouldn't care if it did have a track editor. I'm more interested in driving real courses anyway. I'd probably just build myself a 20km dragstrip for high speed testing and that'd be it.

I seriously doubt it will have one anyway.

I reckon it'll be great having a track editor. It might have the ability to share them online. doubt it though. But I'm looking forward to seeing what it's all about.

Speculation or Reality, a track editor is novelty to me. Great tracks are designed carefully, in theory it could be way to easy to make a track that is undriveable, plus has anyone thought of the environment? they cant all be grass and sand with clear skies in sight, what of a city track?

In the non-racing sector ill spend most of my time in Photo mode or Museum.

Pretty good point there actually. and most of my non racing time will be spent purchasing and modifying cars.

Which, incidentally, is pretty much all you need to create:

  • Monza
  • Silverstone
  • Spa
  • Imola
  • Fiorano
  • Hockenheim
  • Virginia International Raceway
  • Lime Rock Park
  • Watkins Glen
  • Sebring
  • Road America
  • Road Atlanta
  • Mosport
  • Mont-Tremblant
  • Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
But, really, who would waste their time with tracks like those when you could build yourself a "20km drag strip for testing"?

Exactly.

Would be cool to build add tunnels and stuff, then you could build an entire undercover race track.

Oh yeah because my idea was so stupid, lets say I actually wanted to find out the top speed of a car without losing the final few kmh through a corner? Yeah... really stupid, much more stupid than a half-arsed inaccurate interpretation of a track that won't even compare to the original, let alone the rest of the lineup of tracks that ACTUAL PROGRAMMERS have slaved over for years.

Now Peter, you have no idea what this might even be. Have you checked out ModNation Racers? Track making in that is unbelievably cool. If track making is in GT5, it's going to be great, no doubt. If it's not great, it won't be in, simple as. It's all good.

Hmm, alittle more than green grass and blue skies needed for CGV.
There are several bridges and downtown buildings in plain sight including one bridge leading right into the course, its surrounded by water, St lawrence river to the sides and a man made lake int he middle, the next island contains the "wire globe" from Expo '67

I never called your idea stupid - people have wanted a simple, straight stretch of road for testing since the series first began. I am simply implying that a robust track editor could be used to create much, much more than the simplistic circuits most people seem to be focused on. Alas, "robust" is the key word here.

...none of which is visible from the track itself (with the brief exception of the globe, but I think I could live without that).

My experience from PC modding (enviroment editors etc) leaves a bitter taste, mods/tracked/edited items range from rubbish to 'meh' with the odd bright star in the mix of it all (compared to original packaged provided tracks/mods). If GT5 has an high quality editor then I doubt I will use anyones creation unless they're really proven to be of original packaged quality and accuracy and for that reason I think a editor is better suited for fantasy tracks unless GT turned in to the flight sim community and had whole dev teams just making high quality (much higher than packaged) payware mods.

Jordan, you forgot the most important track of all, Bathurst! :P
