near the end of the vid, the car hits the outside wall and for the rest of the lap its pulling pretty hard to the left. might be managable for wheel racers but us controler guys will have it rough.

How do you mean? as in the damage causes the wheels to turn it left??

Good point about it being harder for controller users, not a lot you can do about it though.

There is some mechanical damage in the recent demos, hitting walls causes the car to pull to one side like damaging the suspension and wheels (hence a lot of wobbling on the straights). A serious loss of acceleration and speed has been noticed aswell.

Besides the new damage, anyone notice the mini cooper with the vinyls and decals. Looks like it was made with a livery editor! (it could be its original livery though)

We've been over this MANY times before, and it doesn't confirm anything. Could just be another GT tuned edition like the cars in Prologue.

I know that Target.com isn't the definitive source for official Playstation3 release dates, although their site does say that Gran Turismo 5 is available for pre-order and expected to ship on November 24, 2009. The President of SCEE has been quoted as saying that the game may drop around Christmas 2009, and Target's date corresponds with the date perfectly.
Should we expect an official announcement from Sony soon? Or has Target had this phony date up for a long time? I'm only asking because if this game was to drop on this date, I would consider purchasing one of those slick new PS3's before this holiday season.
Furthermore, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony hasn't got on Polyphony Digital's case with how late this game has been delayed. Sony is already lagging greatly behind in sales to Wii and XBOX360. Thus, Sony definitely needs to get this "killer-app" out for this holiday season. Otherwise, what other good PS3-exclusive games are coming out?

GT5 is coming March 2010 in Japan and the rest of the world will be close to that time, KY has said it many times. It is not coming 2009, it has not been officially delayed and Sony has/is on PD's back all the time about release (KY has confirmed) but thats something that is not supposed public knowledge.

I don't know how much faith people have in Fudzilla, but their "sources" suggest than an announcement could come at CES in January '10 regarding the NA release date.

While SCEA has yet to make an official announcement as to when to expect Gran Turismo 5, our sources suggest that the company will make an official announcement on the North American release date in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. As one source told us, it just stands to reason that they need something big to announce, and what better than the release date in North America for Gran Turismo 5?

I think this makes a lot of sense...and there could finally be the run down of all the feature set, and also because there are no game shows left to showcase GT5 before it ships; CES is the only major show left.

But I think it makes the most sense because Sony are known to be moving heavily into 3D in '10, and I wouldn't bet against a full feature set GT5 being shown in 3D on Bravia TV's, thus making it relevant to the consumer electronic part of the show.

January 10th seems to me a little late to announce the release date if it is close to the Japanese date (March).

Seems to me the source is assuming (not saying ther're wrong), I sure hope we learn of the date before the end of the year.

We could get the release date this year, although personally I think it's doubtful as I think the NA release will be in April or May, as Sony and Kaz are very non-committal on when it will release in the West.

I have to believe though that Sony are going to show GT5 at CES in a big capacity....I mean E3, GamesCom and TGS have all come and gone and nothing of any substance of GT5 has been shown.

I can't believe Sony are just going to release their most important IP without having a proper showcase somewhere. CES is the only place left before March.

They don't need a gameshow, they can release info, videos, interview invites etc anytime they want and all the gaming media sites will sit up and pay attention.

Well, there's the GDC in February, which I originally hung my hat on because I never remember about CES in January. I'm all about the NAMM music technology expo. But you're right. CES is a much better place to unveil GT5, as it's public, and people will get a chance to experience a game to be put on a want list. I also don't expect any sort of release date before then, but we might get a Christmas present.

GDC is more for developers though...that's not to say GT5 couldn't be there, but a media blowout is unlikely.

I disagree with Jay that GT5 doesn't need a gameshow....it does. Look at all the BIG games coming out in Q1/Q2....they're all going to be vying for media attention. And at the moment, publishers clearly don't seem too frightened about GT5 as they're not bothering to move them out of its way like they have for MW2, even though they know GT5 will release around March/April in the West.

Sony can't afford to rest on the GT brand and assume that GT5 will sell well, especially with so many PS3 exclusives faltering sales wise, and GT PSP falling completely off the radar....Sony are going have to go out and promote and showcase GT5 heavily to get people who've drifted off to Forza or NFS (of which there will be many) back to GT, especially if they have to buy another console to get back into GT....CES is the biggest stage to show everything off, and it encompasses a broader range of media outlets than just gaming sites.

The idea that gaming media sites will sit up and pay attention about everything GT5 is true to a point...but there are so many big games coming next year, that the GT5 stuff will quickly get lost if Sony don't beat their drum like MS did for Halo 3; posting odd GT5 news on the PS blog won't be enough to get GT5 back to the 10 million+ sales previous versions regularly commanded.

Well, I disagree with that. The one game which seems to cause an internet meltdown any time there's serious news is GT5. I have no doubt that many gamers who have a racing game they're happy with will once again make Gran Turismo a platinum seller just on pre-orders. And buy a PS3 if they don't have one. Wheel controllers will go out the door too.

Im sick of watching Tokyo R246. Its gotten to the point now where I don't wanna even watch the videos. For goodness sake put a different track on.

Same, i was never a fan of the track to begin with and now i hate the sight of it.

Yeah I was never a fan either, I've always hated it (as I do most city courses) but when GT5 comes out I wont be racing on that track unless I have to.
