"70 circuit layouts and 20 variations"

lol one more to count ..

if this translation is true it may be :

70 TRACKS :D AND 20 Variations some of these 70 tracks (suzuka short etc). so summarize 90 !

this number of track is i think good ....

Pretty sure that is spot on. No way we only have 20 tracks.

I think this is a mistranslation by the magazine.

"70 circuit layouts" surely means the original track and other shorter/different versions of it.

Then to state "20 variations" afterwards doesn't make sense.

All in all, we still don't know.

I think it's 70 tracks with variations total, and 20 basic tracks.

If there was 90ish tracks, why don't they just say the end all be all final number of total tracks?!!?

GT4 had 40 separate tracks (including places like the Las Vegas Strip, Beginner's Course, Test Course, etc).

This doesn't include variations such as (Circuit de la Sarthe II (no chicanes), Twin Ring Motegi - East Short Course, Autumn_Ring_Mini , etc).

So, I'd be disappointed to see only 20 separate tracks. I'd expect something like 50 (with many new tracks coming to GT5)

Although we've known for a while now that a "new" physics engine is in the works, I'm pleasantly suprised to hear continued talk of how different and connected it feels. Let's just hope this means more realistic as even nfs:shift gave a pretty good feel for the tarmac and I will say no more on that one......

The same reason the back cover of GT5P only claims 6 tracks :)

Think of it this way; how many tracks in GT4 had more than one variation?
Now if there's only 20 places that need 70 variations all up, on average that's 3.5 variations for each and every track. The ponly ones in GT4 that managed that were (from memory) Fuji Speedway 80/90/00/GT, and, ummm...

Either way, their way of counting seems to be way better than the previous way of counting, and I doubt they're going to do the same thing as T10 and release 15 tracks with a billion versions which are just the individual sectors forwards and backwards.

It's written: 70 circuit layouts and 20 variations.

Literally, I take it as 70 (tracks) and of those 70 there will be 20 variations, meaning some "won't" and some will have variations.

So, yes I agree with that understanding.

How about:

20 ****ing countries

70 ****ing race tracks.

What's so hard about that?

Maybe because they don't even know

5 months until the release date, we better get some solid info. They're cutting it pretty close if they're still working on final details and don't want to put out any more screen shots of possible new tracks. There's no 'insider', no Sony/PD employee letting us know what's going on. There's no one to connect with US to let us know what's up. Maybe tell us there's some new screens going to be released in December, nothing.

I would think they would put out some more screens since everything else (cars and tracks) are ready... or so they say.

i think what KAz says it;s a sham to lower his game a little in mind of people, and don't hype it too much. When game will be ready in 2 months then reveal true facts , cars , tracks, numbers etc.

Uhh i want to play it on this italy track so bad in my 512 bb .. :/ it'll be like seven heaven to just drive this heaven road ....

No matter how you look at it, we're getting 70 layouts, which is basically like having 70 different tracks. So quit wining.

Or you can go the Top Gear test track and use the airstrip as a drag strip, etc....... :)

That hasn't been changed for a long time.

Actually it has changed, very recently. I work for HMV and as the poster says until recently it was at 4th December. If you go back a few pages you will see that i posted information about this change of date on our stock systems. it's a very possible date i reckon.

My guess is that us/eu don't have a date, because the second it's finished it'll be released. No reatiler knows the date, as nobody knows when it'll be finished (even PD).

PD have been given a public date for japan so this focuses their efforts/minds, but i'm in no doubt that sony wants it sooner.

My guess is that PD will work like crazy before xmas trying to get it out of the door for the start of the new year - however, if they can't get the quality or they find they can optimise some more, then they have some extra time if required until march if they need it.

I'm hoping that the game was almost ready, but they had extra time to perfect the damage and implement some forza features - just to make doubly shore they will be back on top.

I just found interesting videos of GT5 at Nurburgring. (the link won't work) so just google it.

1. Audi R8 meets Gran Turismo 5
2. Ferrari California Debut video

Both show each car at the Nurburgring in GT5, but in the Ferrari video, it looks to be mid afternoon or so. But in the Audi video, it's clealy late evening.

The California video it seems like the normal 'optimal driving' conditions, and the R8 video I watched just looked to be the camera blew out the brights, making the time of day not really able to decipher

Perhaps this is not the right thread but could 20 locations be related to the track editor, while there are 70 fixed tracks.

So when you make a track you have 20 locations to choose from, aswell as the 70 fixed tracks for gtmode.

Hay perhaps you can race with your tracks online.

What do you mean by "blew out brights". To me it looks like evening.
