There is a (possibly new possibly the same one as gamescom) GT5 demo on show at IFA 2010 in Berlin, Sony just tweeted this:

SonyEurope
http://tweetphoto.com/42806202 One for the gamers - a GT5 trial both that allows you to sample some PS3 gaming in 3D #sonyIFA #ifa2010

Anyone going to that event or know anybody who is?

Kazunori's answer to "How many unique tracks are there in GT5?" was "If you count them individually, more than seventy.". These, thus, are not my figures about unique tracks.

To me that says 70 variations of tracks.

Otherwise why would you say, "if you count them individually". well how else would you count the circuits if not individually?

it makes sense that it would read:

"if you count all of the variations individually, more than 70"

However i would not class a reverse as a variation. i thinjk reverse will be on top of that number. so many 20 circuits = 40 when reversed = 70 variations of the forward 20 circuits plus some variations on the reverse.

I just got back from the Best Buy in Portland, Or that has the playable demo. I played for about an hour on all the avialable tracks and with almost every car. They told me that other Best Buys already have the demo and it is obviously not an exclusive to this one particular store. They also said that I was about the 5th person who came in today specifically for the demo. I did not take any photos or videos because apparently, the other people that came in did. I can tell you that it is not a new build because there are no skidmarks.

I want to share some impressions now. Keep in mind, I have never played GT5 Prologue and I very briefly played the GT5 TT Demo. I have played all 4 other major GT releases extensively though.

I was unimpressed with the graphics. The cars look beautiful- that is a fact. However, everything else seemed pixelated and a little blurry. The trees are noticeably 2d (nothing new I know) and the spectators are ridiculous looking (cardboard). I don't even know PD bothers to put them in when they just stand out as looking absurd. It really ruins the replay mode on ceratin tracks in my opinion. Also, anything digital in the car interiors is just too fuzzy. It is not sharp for some reason. Overall, the cars look amazing in any view and the interior view overall is very nicely done, but the tracks did not impress me graphically. I should note that the Sony tv that is being used is very small and pretty crappy. It definitely isn't a newer model 1080p LCD.

I was able to turn up the volume and hear the car sounds. My overall impression of them is that they are still very weak, but better than before. The #24 Nascar sounded very good, especially in replays. The Gallardo sounded decent in the low revs, but very weak and vacuum-like in the higher revs. That seemed to be a common theme with most of the cars I tested. The SLS sounded like a V8, but it wasn't deep enough or loud enough. I don't like how the cars don't get louder as the revs build. Any real car sounds a lot louder at 7k revs versus 2k. The loud ''thud'' from banging into walls and other cars was annoying. The tire squeal definitely sounds better than ever.

I had a hard time with the physics. I don't know if I was on standard or pro or what any of the settings were. To be fair, I am kind of a wuss and I normally play with standard physics and aids on. I was sliding all over the place and bumping everything. Maybe it's good that I didn't film anything. You can definitely feel the car's weight which is cool. I literally didn't drive one clean lap. The rallying still seems like you are on ice a little too much for my taste. Even though I drove like crap, it was still pretty easy to beat the AI in case anybody was wondering. The game is still fun and that's the most important thing.

Out of the cars I tried, I would have to say that I enjoyed the Enzo the most. As far as tracks are concerned, the Nurburgring was my favorite. The night driving on Toscana was pretty cool to see. I can see how night races will be a beautiful thing in GT5.

To sum everything up, I am still very much looking forward to GT5 and I really hope that PD touches up some of the minor annoyances that really distract from the overall beauty (2d trees, 2d spectators, fuzzy interior guages, etc.) I'm sure many of you will have a chance to play this demo soon and you can formulate your own opinions.

Anyone able to confirm how the reverse work in the latest version of the game, do you still need to hit "triangle" or can you downshift and/or hold brake into reverse?

I was pissing my self until the end... Looked pretty legitimate..

Haha for a moment there I actually thought it was legit..seeing as Kaz said that "everything will be a surprise" a long time ago..I was hoping (though not completely convinced) that GT had a sudden surprise release and that I would find a copy in my mailbox right about now.....nice video haha.

If only I had the ability of "Inception", I could make kaz give me a copy (Of the latest biuld at least), tell him its worth wile .....

Regarding the demos, I hope its not only in The U.S. (Bring it to canada!), I don't really want to drive all the way down to oregon to get a glimpse of this artifact in action..

Do you think PD will re-create malfunctioning pedals on the Toyotas?
Or better yet, Give us a chance to burn the glue on our 458's? :D

To me it didn't look legitimate, at all xD
-we all know the game is not done yet
-the quality of the plastic layer covering the box is not good (you can see it) and it doesn't have a Playstation 3 seal
-what's a SIAE certificate (Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori) doing on a disc coming from Japan?
-the cover is slightly stretched vertically, has white edges and on the back is all white
-a game coming straight from Japan has no japanese inscriptions on it?
-the front of the game disc is shiny:dunce:

Yep, The three things I did notice,

Kaz said he would work on it until it releases, exactly why I cant seem to understand how subway can give away a copy earlier than release.

The plastic wasn't as soft like the real ones either. Seemed a bit too "Crisp"

I noticed the white edges (Borders) too

Other than that, I was like a 9 year old in disneyland!

Come on, the guy did a great job.

He defenitely did!

Damage turned on or off?

That is a wonderful question. If it is on, it definitely isn't very severe. I swear that on the Indy oval after a few cmall crashes, my car would pull pretty hard to the right without even steering it. i have to assume that is mechanical damage at work.

Turn the sound up He says something about the damage not showing up in the replay. I think he was doing a walk through and talking about the game during the replay we didn't see him driving the car did you not notice the camera view changing. It sound to me that he had his kid with him as he said during the first video I'll have to put you down now as in he was holding him/her the played the game and filmed the replay

Someone posted a picture showing that they won the Subway contest, and it said the game would ship in 8-10 weeks. 8 weeks puts it almost right on the release date.

Edit: Here it is

For those that thought that Subway thing was impossible to win, I actually just won
