Well... making a backfire for a PS2 or PSP game sure is easier than for a PS3 game, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see it. I've yet to see proper exhaust flames in a PS3 game.

EDIT: No GT3 didn't have backfires.

What about NFS shift?

You know what I wonder about? So far the tuning pics we've seen shown only front and rear tire options. Do you think in the actual tuning we can get into individual tires? Suspension, tire pressure... etc. I think it has to be a must feature considering GT5 is touting the NASCAR label.

Even NASCAR 94 has all those features.

I haven't read what you guys are talking about, but I hope the cars have backfiring like in GT4. I remember trying to capture the backfiring flames in the photomode :D
In Forza, you can pause/rewind/slow-mo the replay to get the exact moment in time that you want to photograph. I really really really hope GT lets you do that. Backfires will be a piece of cake to capture if they do that.

Speaking of Photomode, have they said how we'll get our photos off of the PS3? I'd like to be able to move them to my PC. No matter how good the photo-editing options in-game are, Photoshop will always be better. :)

NASCAR will certainly, with out a doubt, for sure have it's own tuning options (I think;)).

Usuaully for PS3 games it saves it to the XMB, then just USB it... I doubt they'd drift from that standard too much.

I have to admit, I had GT3 day 1 and never noticed brake discs glowing...

You aren't the only one... I never even noticed them in GT4...
Ok I just noticed them in a very, very low quality video:dunce: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf_GX4d2Qyo (at 0:09)

I have the perfect picture to show you but I have no idea how to post it here from my PS3.

You were able to save your GT4 pictures directly to a usb stick. I believe the GT5 photo mode pictures will be saved on your hard drive, just like in Metal Gear Solid 4, then you can just copy them to your usb stick.

Backfires in shift are OK, but not perfect, especially if you pan the camera round and notice that the flame doesnt origionate in the right place...

If GT5 has flames I hope they have more than 1 type of flame, the licky up the back bumper type aswell as the puff flame type and the small cone flame type

I think replay watching in my total playtime for GT3 and GT4 equals around 20 minutes. I don't watch replays... then, when I started up on GT5P doing drifting, I got more into it.

Sometimes I like to just drive slowly through the replay camera locations just so I can zoom in and look at the cars closeup during replays.

If you never noticed brake glow in GT3 or GT4 then you didn't spend enough time watching replays. =D

Oh how well that describe me. I really on cared to watch replays for certain track sections (to see what went wrong and then exit replay) or if something incredible happened. Short of either of those 2 situations, I haven't really been impressed enough with replay graphics to be jonesing for them, until this current generation of consoles.

Forza's brake glow is ridiculously exaggerated. You hardly ever see cars discs glowing in real life, except in really low light or at night. Judging by their work on tyre smoke and how it's produced, I expect in GT5 disc brakes temp will actually be calculated, and if they glow, they glow ;0

In GT4 and Forza 3, brakes start to glow upon the first instance of braking. It's not quite exaggerated, it just happens far too quickly.

I don't know about Forza and GT5P, but I hope brake rotors won't just glow like lava. At "lower" temperatures there is a change of metal color in addition to a faint glow visible mainly at night (which can be with blue/violet/purple tones). Only at higher temperatures hot metals start glowing progressively in red->orange->yellow->yellow/white.

Would representing real metal proprieties be too much? Probably yes, but that would be more realistic and a nice touch. By the way, I wonder if the same will happen to visible engine exhaust headers and turbines (if available) on premium cars with an open or missing hood. Maybe if there is a dyno feature... could be an idea.

Are you really trying to group FM3 and GT4 together on this? GT4 doesn't start to glow too quickly at all. You don't see it that often and usually only under heavy braking in faster cars (ie: racing cars). And even then, the brakes gradually glow as you hold the brakes, quite realistically.

However, what you describe is half true for FM3. It starts glowing immediately after touching the brakes, yes, but it definitely still is exaggerated. The glow is so vibrant and shows up on any car almost regardless of speed. It almost looks like the brake discs are on fire.

can anyone confirm that the entire front bumper fell off or is it just too dark to see?

I can confirm (since I took that picture) that the bumper is still there! The lighting makes it look like there is not but this demo and all demos for that matter don't have that function. I frankly don't know if we would be able to make bumpers fall off in game (full game) :nervous:

i really hope so because this looks too ridiculous.

bumper looks liek it's hanging on by a thread and no matter how hard you hit it, it'll just be dangling? i really hope not.
