GT5 looks better than this GT6 Demo

No. It looks different. That's all. And to my opinion, it looks warmer and smoother. I can't say GT6 or GT5 is better; both games have their goods and bads when it comes to graphics.

Bottom line, GT6 will still look better than most racing games of the current gen, and the graphics from the demo were far from being bad.

If people got frame rate drops as terrible as they say (in my opinion they were exaggerating and being over critical) then they are doing something wrong because in my case I had no frame rate issues whatsoever.

Nothing better nor worse than GT5. Just different and still looking great.

Actually, I had experience some really bad frame-rate drops at random times (with third person view), although not too often. I understand that it's a early build so I don't mind it. I've yet too experience any in cockpit view though.

I played in cockpit throughout the whole demo. In this view is were people complain the most. I honestly had no frame rate drops whatsoever. I even went offtrack and did some donuts and the drop was very insignificant and at the same level as GT5. Other than that, the demo ran smooth as silk for me.

However, I did notice something and this post bellow explains it perfectly.

I really think GT6 looks better than GT5, just the colors are a bit, a tiny bit too saturated. But the replays are stunning now!

Yes, I agree 👍 I chose a yellow Leaf and on replays the color was all over the place. Extremely strong. However, if they add the option to adjust saturation like in GT4, I don't see it being a huge problem.

Seriously, watch this, GT5 looks sharper, brighter and with smoother framerate, GT6 has god awful aliasing, even on the track edges and the flickering shadows kill the textures

For the game itself, I think its a bit better yes, but I've found the replays more polished, and realistic (other than the tiny bit saturated colors I've mentioned before)... the chrome looks way better, just notice how the Leaf headlights look in the replays. But in a nutshell, as you say, yes, "different" is good enough.

About framerate issues etc, as PD made us wait a lot and GT5 had substantial flaws it's natural for people to be "picky" with GT6. Of course, sometimes it's too much. (we know what i'm talking about)...

Only thing I'm noticing is that GT6 has more aliasing in general, but I'd like to think that any problems with the demo will be fixed before release.

Some off-screen pics, I took them with my phone and I did it on a tunel where the shadows wouldn't interfere so sorry for the quality, however, you can clearly see how smooth GT5 looks compared to GT6.

Both games were tested on the same PS3 with the same TV settings, both were running at 720p but I could upload a 1080p comparison later.

Here you go.

I don't know what happened with GT6 on the last picture, it looks like the new HDR lightning engine is less photorealistic. In some of the dash pctures, GT5 appears to have a higher polygon count too especially around the stitches and edges of the plastic panels.

You can enlarge the pictures to see them in more detail but they're quite big.

The difference is quite noticeable, I admit. However these jagged edges and stuff aren't really noticeable unless you sit like 10 inches from the screen and watch closely. At normal gameplay, if you didn't post these pictures for comparison I would have never noticed it, as I'm sure most wouldn't either.

I feel people are being too critical and picky. It's like playing the game to look for the negative aspects of it rather than focusing on the positive.

In my humble opinion, the game is a fantastic experience and the little negative things most are finding can't be really noticed unless you look closely and with the intentions of finding these details. the same cannot be said for some other games in which the negative details hit you in the face the very first time you play.

This. I'm starting to believe so myself. I mean seriously, who cares why should those things even matter? Not like there in your face or anything. Geez some people are to picky in games...

Yeah, I mean, imagine if GT6 dropped to 20 fps every five seconds, froze like one of every five races, or its physics felt like Shift. That would be something to be worried about. But the game is nearly flawless. Yeah, it probably has these insignificant negatives, but what game is perfect? I'm sure when GT7 comes out for PS4, people will start pointing out the most ridiculous flaws and will say they won't buy it.

Interesting images PepeMickey. GT6 has loads of aliasing compared to GT5. The outline of the car from 3rd person view is pretty bad.

And it still has framerate problems? Im guessing this adaptive tesselation isnt working out so well for them.

The sad part is, Turn 10, on inferior hardware and with less time, got a rock solid 60fps for Forza 4

True, but the sacrifices made to achieve that are quite noticeable.

I know right, that will be worring but I'm glad those don't exist. :) Like you said, no game isn't perfect because that will be by far impossible. I'll understand why some people NEED to find small certain things nobody cares about in games, but only for them to whine about...

Eks
True, but that's because they made noticeable cutbacks.

Like weather for one.

Yeah, the image quality and smooth gameplay in FM4 sometimes make it feel nextgen-ish, I might post some FM4 pics too but that would be tomorrow.

Edit: Ok, so I went back to GT6 but running in 1080p mode this time and I must say...I don't understand why but it looks sharper and aliasing is a lot less noticeable while GT5 in 1080p mode looks blurry. I did experience more framerate drops with GT6 in 1080p mode though but I don't get it. Most games look better in 720p on big screens but not GT6.

I think there's something wrong with the demo, maybe PD forgot to optimize the 720p mode so the game downgrades itself to 680p (sub-HD), Still, GT5 handles aliasing better than GT6 no matter what.

Let's not make this into another Forza vs GT topic please.

GT6 looks exactly the same to me to GT5, but then again I'm not expecting substantial improvement in graphics if its on the same system.

I completely disagree with the OP. The lighting model in GT5 was very generic, and didn't offer any proper interaction on the surface. In the demo, you can clearly see the dusk and evening light models give the environment and vehicles a distinct orange and golden hue as you'd expect in real life. The reflections and car paint are nicer, though I think the highlights could still be sharper and brighter. At a close distance, the reflections are still quite low resolution, and tend to flicker a bit, though that could be changed from now to release, so I'll reserve final judgment until then.

The track and environment details are much nicer, with a bit more life. It's nice to see that the grass isn't incredibly bright and saturated anymore!

Working in VFX, I've kind of kind a keep eye for this stuff. I haven't had a very close look at most of the stuff, as I was just trying to get straight to the GTA. One thing that did stand out that was a nice little addition, was the glint and highlight you get off of the interior elements of the car. I got a nice bright highlight off the gauges of the GTR when I was racing around Silverstone. Nice little touch.

Iv been playing quite allot and I can tell you one thing
Its not the frame rate that makes the screen look jittery.its whatever there using to fix the screen tearing * that is NO LONGER PRESENT! 👍 *
oh and GT6 looks worst jaggies wise..

2nd comparison, this time GT6 720p vs GT6 1080p

GT6 720p

GT6 1080p

GT6 720p

GT6 1080p

Still needs AA but somehow the picture looks better in 1080p but without being blurred out, needless to say how disgusting GT5 looks in 1080p at least in my eyes but this behaviour on the demo is very strange, I don't know what PD did here but it seems that their adaptive tesselation system doesn't work in 720p mode.

Well I'd hope it looks better in 1080p considering higher resolution lowers the need for AA.

I think 1080p give better playback too some how ,because im not experiencing any noticeable frame drops either. The AA on the tracks white lines are much more noticeable when comparing to gt5,I didnt even notice it while I was racing.
I wouldnt say GT6 looks dull compared to gt5, GT5 light was too bright imo in gt6 it looks much realer.. like theres actual windows in cockpit view.

Terrible framerate and this is with only 1 car and all data on HDD!!!
I also have a feeling the resolution has dropped slightly from 1280 x 1080 to maybe 1152 x 1080 or lower.
I think they should just drop to 1280 x 720 to free up some resources, after all Forza 4 is only 720p.
I really don't get why they would try to add extra effects to a game that couldn't sustain 60fps in the first place!?

Blu-ray read times + 16 cars = Disaster!

Really wish they would do even just a port to PS4, they could then bump up resolution to proper 1920 x1080, have great AA, shadows and textures could be at higher levels, faster loading all whilst running at solid 60fps.

What have they got to lose?

I want a PS4 but with the lack of a decent driving game i am in no hurry, Driveclub isn't going to be sim-like so that doesn't appeal to me.

Since this thread talks about the way paint reflects, why doesn't someone find a picture of a real car in the colour of the car on Gran Turismo, then compare it to GT6/5?

For example, the Nissan GT-R in Aurora Blue Pearl or whatever the colour is called.
