Ok, that euro game article makes no sense.

They say there are "9" nascars in all.

But there are 11 that have been seen...

Impala SS (#14 Tony Stewart NASCAR, '09)
Impala SS (#24 Jeff Gordon NASCAR, '09)
Impala SS (#42 Juan Pablo Montoya NASCAR, '10)
Impala SS (#48 Jimmie Johnson NASCAR, '09)
Impala SS (#88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. NASCAR, '09)
Camry (#11 Denny Hamlin NASCAR, '09)
Camry (#18 Kyle Busch NASCAR, '10)
Camry (#20 Joey Lagano NASCAR, '10)
Camry (#55 Michael Waltrip NASCAR, '09)
Camry (#83 Brian Vickers NASCAR, '10)
Fusion (#99 Carl Edwards NASCAR, '10)

Perhaps they're referring to the cars:

1. Impala SS
2. Fusion
3. Camry
4. Charger
5. Mustang (new car coming next year)
6. Challenger
7. Dodge Ram
8. Toyota Tundra
9. Chevy Silverado

Edit: This may or may not be interesting for the NSX fans. I don't know nearly enough to deduce if they're Acuras or Hondas nor which model years they are.

Where'd you find that?

Both are Hondas, NSX Type-R '02.

Excellent detective work. I want to say that it's an L88, because the one in GT4 was, but that was the coupe. I really don't know . . .

The c3 in GT4 and GTPSP was a 1969 c3 coupe with a 350 cid L48 and 350 hp.

The L88 was a very very VERY rare engine specially made for racing and chevrolet only made 2 of them in 1969. Search on google and you will probably find the excact number of L88s made. The c2 Corvettes also had the L88 available in 67 and maybe 66 and 65, not really sure. The c2 in NFS Shift is a L88 and so is the c2 in Forza 3.

Chevrolet also made a "race car for the road" c3 in 1970-1972. The difference between this car, the LT-1, and a normal c3 was a aluminium engine block and no options available. These cars could be bought by anyone. Why don`t PD include this instead? I agree the 69 looks a little bit better, but maybe they have both? The LT-1 is featured in Forza 3, also as a convertible but with a hard top. I see they have brought back the Challenger from GT2, maybe they will also bring back the early big block c3 and the 82 c3?

EDIT: forgot to mention the LT-1 had 370 hp (gross) and a little more torque than the L48, but weighed less because of the aluminium engine and the lack of options.

Isnt that the ZL1 that your thinking of? the aluminum block version of the L88.

Did anyone notice that the GT by Citroën is labeled as a road car? I've got my hopes up for a racing version.

It also has 6 gears this time so it appears it's the real version with the gasoline engine in it. =D

cars I'm looking forward to (that sounds like they're in)

Classic Muscle:
The 1966 Plymouth GTX from GT2. I LOVED that car. it was just REALLY fun to drive.

Modern Muscle:
Challenger SRT8

Exotic:
Maserati GranTurismo

Truck:
we'll see...haven't seen any trucks so far.

Compact/Hothatch
Subaru WRX

I'll update with more later.

They might have been just reffering to those exact nine in the trailer. Of course more are on the way so I'm not sure there will be much to complain about in that department :D

Except that Bumblee isn't a 1969 Camaro - Michael Bay deliberately chose a less-famous model (I think it was a 1979) edition because it was less iconic and fit in with the idea of Sam being able to afford a Camaro.

Sorry, read this wrong:
http://www.web-cars.com/corvette/options.php?optionyear=1969

But a well known car magasine tested 3 ZL-1 Corvettes in 1969, but chevrolet says there were only 2 made.

116 L88 Corvettes were made in 1969.

EDIT: After looking at the pictures posted on the home page it seems like the Corvette c3 is a 350 small block. Not 100% sure but if it is a small block it almost certainly is the 350 hp (net) L46 and not the 300 hp engine. The same as the c3 featured in gt4 and gtpsp (except this is a convertible with optional sidepipes).
You can read about the ZL-1 here: http://www.corvettelegends.com/zl1.htm

a picture of the two officially made ZL-1s

And a picture of the engine. True art:

EDIT 2: D`oh! turns out the 350 hp engine was actually the L46. Me = :ouch: + + :guilty:

Not to nit pick, but 1967 was the first year for the GTX.

The Corvette is a `69. Why? The side pipes were only offered on 1969 c3 corvettes (but c2 had them), the side gills are from a 68 or 69, the blinkers are from a 68 or 69 and the rear lights are from a 69 - 73. Which means it`s a 1969 Corvette. But I don`t know if it`s the L48 (350 hp gross) or a L88 (officially 430 gross, but is supposed to be massively underrated), which are the most obvious choises.

The side gills of a 1970 Corvette:

The blinkers of a 1970 Corvette:

Made the changes, thanks for all the Corvette info by the way !

I also added better pics for some Chevys, Dodge and NASCAR cars ;)

Now if the359 could put the upgraded list on the first post, I think it would be much appreciated by everyone.

'66, '67 close enough

I'm also curious to see whether the Neon ACR, Stratus, Avenger, Intrepid, and Viper RT/10 will appear? And I hope if they are, they don't use the newer Avenger.

BTW, I would assume that most of the premium cars are going to be American made with a couple other companies tossed in like Lamborghini. (who had sponsored a Lamborghini game that was going to have a full damage model, but the game was cancelled.)

btw:
honda
Honda's hot new CR-Z sport hybrid 2be first of its kind in Gran Turismo 5. Looking forward to chat with creator momentarily.

So, the Honda CR-Z sport hybrid is confirmed to be in GT5

How do you come to that conclusion?

WAAAAAAYYYYYY Back when they KAz first discussed Damage (for GT4, I think) it was mentioned they went around and asked the car makers if they could fully damage their cars. He mentioned that most of the American car makers didn't have any problems with it and it was the Europeans and Asians like Toyota and Aston Martin that had the issues with damaging their cars. Although, it would appear that the Germans don't car if their cars get destroyed, either.

In case people want to know there are about 140 (+/- ~5) cars that we have the the interior of. That leave about 60 left.

Ok, I couldn't remember him saying that because it was so long ago.
