We're still not sure though, and until then they shouldn't be listed as confirmed premium cars. I personally think they look standard.

Strittan, I've been out of the Premium vs Standard discussions, so, how you guys are classifiying a car as Standard or Premium? Based on the windshield color?

Also, I didn't notice any difference of the Standard from Premium when it comes to exterior rendering, the Standard models are only upscaled GT4 models, or they are in fact rehashed models?

EDIT: Just removed the Trial Celica '03.

Exactly how is the Audi R10 Standard? It has not been in any previous GT game therefore by default, its Premium. Any car that hasn't been in any of the previous GT games are essentially premium. Now the 787B has been in three previous GT titles and therefore, it can be counted as standard. The Audi R10 on the other hand is completely new.

How about, only listing the one's we're absolutely sure are premium and standard. Like the cars at the E3 2010 demo are all Premium. and the cars seen in the "standard cars" video are standard. Let's keep keep speculation out of it. Like the main list on the first page. No real speculation there, just the cars we've seen.

Based on detail. The standard cars are not even half as detailed as the premium ones. The bodies alone has far less polygons compared to the premium cars.

I don't want to sound harsh, but if you don't notice any difference between the two types I really suggest you look closer.

Exactly. 👍

Indeed, they do look less detailed, specially if you take a look at the LMP cars, however I don't find that concerning, they still look good and make a nice addition to the game.

Ok, good for you, however not everyone share your opinion (including me) so therefore I think we should divide the lists into one premium and one standard. :)

In GT4 the cockpit is completely blacked out, in the GT5 trailer you can see the guys head and the dashboard. Still not 100% certain, but personally I would put the 787b and R10 as premium. Call me crazy but I think the 787b in the GT5 trailer looks like its sporting more polygons then the GT4 photomode car, the edges look much smoother

If not, is the only premium LMP car the Peugeot 908? That would be ultra lame.

The Audi R10, its hard to get a real good look at it but its not on the GTPSP car list and it was not seen anywhere in Vision GT or Gran Turismo HD

However one of the Lamborghinis is standard, its new to the GT series but its also on the GTPSP car list.

I highly (deep inside I hope:guilty:) doubt we're going to get more standard cars then the ones on the GTPSP car list

Still too unclear so I'm gonna wait until I can get a better look at both cars.

That list is fake as hell! what are the chances of GT5 not having a R32 skyline in it!

There was an R32 on that list..but I do agree that it looks fake though there isn't much I wouldn't do to be proved wrong...

Judging from those two pics, the 787B from the trailer has some orange along the bottom front bumper.
The 787B from GT4 does not, so maybe it is a different model.

Here's an idea: Let's not compare the higher-resolution GT4 Photo Mode to GT5. And personally, if a car in GT5 looks just as good as a car in GT4 Photomode, that;'s actually pretty good, and from what I've seen, GT5 cars look better.

Here is a pic of a real 787b

Notice the air intake for the brakes on the right rear of the car? The little black thing that sticks up out of the bodywork

Notice in the GT4 photomode pic its a mound of polygons, but in the GT5 trailer you can see it is vertical and much more detailed.

ALSO notice the antenna appears to be much more detailed in the GT5 trailer.

You can see the base of the antenna in the GT5 trailer while the antenna in the GT4 photmode is mostly just a black line.

Here is a pic that shows the driver's helmet in the car, visor appears to be slightly open as well, same as other premium cars. You can even see the fire mask.

Anyone notice how everytime Sony mentions it, "Standard" and "Premium" cars are in quotation marks. Maybe they're won't be two different classes and they released info on those names just to mess with us. I mean, the only footage of "Standard" cars has been on that one video that looked a little too much like a high-rez version of GT4 or something.

Get real. Why would they mess about such a thing, put it on the official site and show the standard cars in a video?

Face it, it would take them over 15 years to model 1000 cars to the quality of the premium cars.

This is coming from the same guy that said this...

Since clearly to you the difference is so obvious and that standard cars don't have even close to the same amount of polygons as premium cars, surely you'd be able to tell if the 787B and R10 were premium, no? Perhaps you should reserve your judgement on how horrible the standard cars look then if you can't even tell if those cars are premium or standard, or maybe you should take your own advice and look closer.

And for the record, those two cars are definitely premium. They both have a higher level of detail than the standard cars in the recent video. Beyond the level of detail, the R10 wasn't in GTPSP and is new to the series, and you can see also clearly see the driver's helmet inside the cockpit of the 787B.

Drivers helmets being in view doesn't indicate that it's a 'premium' car. I've seen driver helmets on lots of cars in GT before. So what? We'll see what 'premium' and 'standard' cars difference is soon I think.

I'm most certainly not going to add cars to a premium list based on guesses or judgements of "detail quality".

Hello The359, please don't change anything at all, continue as you have done so far ... Good Work :)

I'm seeing reflections of the clouds on the windshield, not sure it's a helmet. The white patch on the right side is definitely reflection of the sky.

If the car stood still or if the camera didn't move so fast around it or if it was brighter footage, then yes, I would be able to tell right away. However, the footage is very dark and goes by so quickly, and there are no good screens of it either, not that I can find anyway.

Also, some cars are more easy to tell from each other than others, and I'll admit the 787B looks pretty good even in GT4.

One thing that makes me think it's a standard car is this part, where it looks very thin and undetailed:

787b.jpg

If it was premium I think it would look more well modeled, like this:

Those are two very different angles and the picture is blurry. Furthermore, look at the bottom left of that same picture and look how detailed the side of the car is and compare it with the GT4 model.

There is nothing clear about that picture. There is no helmet in the picture or video, anywhere.

Look more closely. You can see the helmet here:

787b.jpg

And you can see that the window is not tinted like the standard cars. Also keep in mind that we had not seen any standard cars at the time this trailer was released (E3 2009) and that there are no standard cars in the trailer (or any other trailers but the standard cars trailer IIRC). Do you really think they would put one standard car in this trailer?

If you're talking about the lighter bit on he left of the windshield toward the top, why is almost the whole left side of the windshield the same shade. I'm 99% sure there is no helmet.
I didn't say it wasn't premium, I'm just saying you're seeing things you want to see.

Did some freeze framing on the trailer, even slowed it down from the PS3 on my HDTV and I can confirm that is a White helmet to the left. Not trying to prove anything, just doing some investigating myself.

I'm not seeing what I want to see and I'm not even the first person to say there's a helmet. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.

Yeah, and I believe that's the Top Gear Test Track so it's probably The Stig driving it.
