Can't they just have multiple licenses like the other manufactures?, and i thinks it's stupid that they keep selling to EA when they can sell to multiple company's for more profit if that's what they want is more $$, and if we don't hear a Porsche announcement soon i say screw em, as they are declining as an automaker in the industry and that's why they had to sell half of their company to Volkswagen.

Man i'm mad... for now. :grumpy:

Isn't Porsche the most successful car company at the moment in regards to the number of vehicles they produce to the number of models they have or my something like that. Plus Porsche has the controlling stake in VW from what i read.

They have the controlling stake for now, Porsche 50/49.9 Volkswagen, and as for the models of cars they have to me they all look the same, that's why i really don't care if they don't ever appear in the Gran Turismo Series cause they really don't have any variety. I really don't like any of their cars as i use to, except 1 which is the Carrera GT other than that the rest of their cars have the same look, which is where RUF comes in.

Terribly sorry if I missed something, but have Porsche gave any reasons for not being in GT5? I mean they're in Need for speed, Forza etc. And another question, Is there any news on RUF being in the game again?

Yes, but sony doesn't want to pay for it apparently. However, with the recent sony/ea partnerships, the fees might get a bit smaller and good things might happen.

They have an exclusive licence deal with EA games, so anyone wanting Porsche has to make a deal with EA is my understanding.
My guess it's a money or political thing ( meaning the other game developers have a deal to exclude PD from obtaining it ).
I think it's a money thing though ( price too high ) and whether Ruf's are in is totally unrelated to the whole Porsche licence deal, I think it's safe to assume they are in as is most of GT4's back catalogue.:)

So there's hope for the near future.

Yeah, and I think we can thank Activision for getting into bed with microsoft for this hope.

Thanks, nice to know there is a chance of RUF being in GT5 since they're just Porsche on steroids haha. Now the only thing on my mind is what wheel to get :D

That's what I don't understand why Porsche seems like a deal breaker for some. if we have Ruf it is just suped up Porsche's. So it's basically the same thing minus some of the models that Porsche doesn't have Ruf do.
As for the wheel. I've only had Logitech's DFGT and G27 and if I were to choose one it would be the G27.

Well most people would miss out on their historic models ( both road and race cars ) not just the current models which might be "duplicated" by the Ruf line-up.
Also their current racecars aren't in any way offered by Ruf.
This is a taster of what we'll miss........

Even without going into the racing cars, of which there are a lot, there's a lot of Porsches to miss. The Boxster and Cayman are good smaller cars which would be competitive in races that the RUFs would be overkill for. The Carrera GT and Panamera would be nice. Some of the older non-911 back catalogue would be nice, 928s, 924s, 944s and 959s and the like would be great to see.

I think the average person has the image of Porsche as "that company that makes 911s", and it'd be nice to be able to broaden peoples horizons to some of the other great cars they've made.

Ruf aren't really a replacement for Porsche, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Ruf's different cars underneath the Porsche body? I do think it's dissapointing that such a legendary manufacturer aren't in Gran Turismo... you'd think they'd be knocking PD's door down to get a place in such a big game, but Porsche don't seem bothered.

Yes, they are separate cars and are built differently.

Agree, Porsche road cars are more than just the 911 ( although it's a large factor ) and not only rear but also mid ( Boxster/Cayman but also the 914 for example ) and front engined.
Would love to see an early beauty like this 356 which bridges the gap between humble Beetle and 911.:)

Well they're a manufacturer by law ( not a tuning firm ) but they use Porsche and their own-designed mechanical parts, not just bodies.
They are clearly linked, not just using a Porsche body.

Cool video thanks for sharing. I would like to see some of the race cars and older models. I didn't know they used the 911 for rally. Did they make a AWD version for rallying? Is that last picture you posted what used to be your avatar?

No the car I used as avatar was a Tatra T87, a rear-engined air-cooled V-8 saloon ( there was a car journalist who accused Ferdinand Porsche of stealing all his ideas from Tatra's Hans Ledwinka.....).;)

And yes the 911 was used for rallying, both in AWD-form ( pre-dating the 959 which won Paris-Dakar ) and rear-wheel drive ( with the engine in the back providing extra traction ).:)

RUF use porsche bodies and chassis and modify them. So yes, underneath they start out as the same thing.

I hope we can get the Bugatti Veyron SS which has the best record on Top gear track 1:16.8

Not a wishlist.

we know its not a wishlist, but there have been no new cars revealed to be added to the real list therefore it is fine for him to talk about what cars he would like to be in the game. He didn't ask for it to be put on the list so what is the problem in him posting it?

play nice. :)

Because this thread is supposed to be for confirmed cars. The same thing happens over and over again, every page, by people who don't seem to understand that "I hope x car is in" is the same as "I wish x car is in".

Comparing RUF to Porsche is like comparing ALPINA to BMW M.

Engine in the same place but totally different cars, it´s an insult to Porsche to even mention RUF in the same sentence.

Really, so you make the rules around here? The thread is titled the way it is for a reason. There are car wishlist threads, he can go hoping all he wants in those. As Slip said, this is for confirmed cars only.

Yeah, and talking about them, this thing caught my eye since the first time I saw it and we'll finally get our hands ( virtually ) on this beauty:

It looked like the result of a breeding between a ferrari and an a DB9 at a first glance, nice nonetheless. I like it.

So you just insulted Porsche apparantly, why it should be considered an insult is beyond me to be honest but there you go.
The Alpina example you gave is a good one as it's also a manufacturer by German law and like Ruf they both have close relationships with both BMW and Porsche and have respect for each other as both BMW and Porsche provide unmarked chassis and other components to them ( BMW even build an Alpina-designed gearbox to use in BMW cars ).

Oh and thank you Dan for reminding me of the car worth the whole asking price of GT5 alone.👍

Ruf only uses unmarked chassis from Porsche, everything else is built themselves.

Dude that car is gorgeous!

I hope they don't make the gearbox of the Gran Turismo like the real thing.
"Man, the input lag in that game is huge!" "That's not input lag, you are driving a Maserati."
