maybe we are looking into Rome Grand Prix track, but being realistic i can conceive at least two circuits with the current Rome circuit layout, maybe they bring back old glories but I have to say that they were pretty accurate 12 years ago with GT2,again lets hope that more than 2 circuits can come up from that location and check the full image here:

Saying Rome Night is like these roads is like saying SSR5 must be located near Tokyo on Route 5.

Although I agree that the layout is clearly not the same (Polyphony have altered the layout for some reason, probably because it was too long (I calculated almost 10 Km), or to make it look/drive better, etc) I doubt that the similarities and things in common for the layout I picked (the original in pink in post #777) are totally coincidental.

Anyway, the point was, again, that if Rome Night is to return in GT5, it would probably have that layout as it's made from real roads and looks/feels overall similar to the track in GT2.

OK?

Akira thanks for looking up ROME-NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was searching the road for that for like...eons! :dunce:
IF Rome-Night returns (1% chance) , i hope it's the same layout, scale and size like the GT2 version, otherwise...it's just not the same. :indiff:

Does anyone think that the circuit in between 15:50 and 16:04 of this -https://www.gtplanet.net/in-depth-gt5-gameplay-analysis-by-insidesimracing-tv/- Is Sepang?
I see the back straight here, before the tight corner at the end of the track, but I could be wrong...

If you're interested I made a kmz file for Google Earth.

You are either blind or stupid. That's clearly the Nürburgring GP course. Do you think Sepang could've been in the E3 demo and no one mentioned it? I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but please, think about it for yourself, think with your brains.

I have never seen the Nurnburgring GP Ciruit, so naturally I thought that was Sepang, after seeing it in F1 Championship edition

I am neither blind nor stupid, I just haven't seen every track on TV / layouts (in detail)

Sorry for my confusion

EDIT: And I asked because I thought it was odd, it not being in the E3 demo and all

if it makes you feel any better, when I saw that part of that video, I at first thought it was a new track as well, since we haven't seen much of the Nurburgring GP circuit, but it didn't take me long to figure it out. :P

It does thank you :) I now feel :dunce:

Now thats a better track.

 Via del Corso is a pretty looong straight. But you'll have to be careful at high speed since 1)it's a bumpy road, 2)full of sampietrini (the squared modeled rocks) and 3)width vary. That would be awesome

I'm sure that for the occasion the Rome administration would sort out those problems... just for GT5 :)
Yes, I think too such track would be awesome.
I believe that GT2 Rome Night was reduced/altered from real roads for several reasons. A "real" version would be a very fun and fast circuit.

By the way, I've made a better version with higlighted in green roads from GT2 which are really too narrow, don't connect other ones or don't make sense in real life:

(Again: )

Also, a long version made by joining together all three Rome Tracks would be over 13 Km long (Google Earth measurement) !

I like that long version. :P

As Hardvibes noted, though, the long backstraight (via del Corso) in the Rome Night section would not be very suitable for high speed racing. Upon further analysis, in addition to not so great road conditions (which can be fixed in GT anyway) it looks very narrow in several spots, where there's probably barely enough space for two cars. This could have been one of the many reasons why Rome Night appeared so different than the actual roads. Probably the guys at Polyphony liked the general layout but many things weren't correctly working (excessive lenght, too narrow roads, not very good-looking, complex layout) and they ended up modifying it so much that in the end existing roads were hardly recognizable.

Just my speculation, though.
By the way, the above long Rome layout kind of looks like a crocodile to me.

One last thing, this is the closest I can get to the GT2 layout with existing roads and without taking apart too many buildings.
It uses many excessively narrow roads though. They couldn't be used for a GT5 or GT6 rendition in my opinion.
The sections enclosed in opaque white are currently not existing roads:

yeah, but now, with courses like Citta di Aria and Costa di Amalfi with the narrow roads (and have you seen the videos of Stolvia Pass?) I think if it was done now, we'd see a more accurate version of it. It might only have room for two cars, but then again, Nurburgring is only wide enough for two cars.

Yes, I've seen videos of the GT version of Stelvio Pass; since it's a public mountain road it should always have room enough for two full lanes, but to be honest I haven't checked in detail. I know there are plenty of videos of it on the net though (mainly from motorcyclists).

By the way, I found a nice photo of Via del Corso seen from the Altare della Patria featured in the confirmed GT5 Rome Circuit. It looks a bit less narrow than I thought, but I wouldn't feel safe to race there at 300+ Km/h speeds :)

Are we pretty close to seeing Spa revealed? I think most of us saw it coming eventually, but I know I'd be super excited to see it in action. Hopefully we can get a glimpse between now and Gamescom (if they even show it then). Of course this is assuming it is in.

But we have this from Jordan that hinted at it back in December.
https://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-demo-hits-december-17/

And now this tweet from Lucas Ordonez to Kaz with a link to the Lucas' Facebook post regarding his upcoming race there. (somewhat unrelated I know)
https://twitter.com/Kaz_Yamauchi

Besides, as aurelio_911 pointed out in this thread, the picture for "Normal Events" on the GT Mode pic has a strong resemblance to Spa. Here is a link to his initial post.

But, maybe they won't ever reveal it and maybe it will never be in. But I have my money on Spa making the cut.

So... who remembers the TGS '09 videos?

Haha awesome that you found that. I started hunting and forgot where I originally saw it. Can I get a link of some kind?

Yep, I remember that pic and that's what gave me hope that Spa could be in the game. I mean, who knows if it's actually going to make it, but that is definitely very interesting, especially when you consider all the other stickers on there are for tracks PD has been to and modelled -- Laguna Seca, Nurburgring, Valencia (from Tourist Trophy). Also something else interesting is that Monza is just out of the shot at the bottom. You can see "MON" and the map shows the Lesmo corners, or maybe the Parabolica. It's a bit hard to tell from the angle.

And back to Spa, if you remember the GT Academy demo, Jordan mentioned that he knew through his sources that the track featured in the TT would be either Indy or Spa. And it was Indy so his sources appear to have been correct and Spa still appears to have a good chance to be in the game.

Did anybody notice that most if not all stickers there feature names or locations appeared in the GT5P weather screen?

Trying to hunt it down in Google images, but what is the yellow circle with the bird in the middle? Is that a track logo?

By the way, this isn't news but I didn't notice this before when I read the Gran Turismo site. This is what it says about the Top Gear track:

"This is the 2.8km short track used in various parts of the UK’s Top Gear TV series. Set at the airfield of Dunsfold Park in Surrey, England, it has a characteristic figure 8 layout. Stay tuned to find out what sorts of wild events are planned in the game for this location."

So that definitely tells us we won't just be racing on this track and we'll probably be able to do standing start power laps like in Top Gear. Plus there's the runway which is probably used for drag racing. I just hope we're able to free roam on the entire track like Jeremy does in his car reviews. So say you just want to fool around, you can mess about doing whatever on the runway, then you can see how fast the car is in a straight line from one end to the other, and then move over to the track to test how the car really handles around a circuit. And if you want to set lap times or do a power lap then you can quit free roam and select that option. Then again I've thought it would be nice if you could just approach the start/finish line while in free roam and it gives you the option to do a power lap. We'll see. There's just so much potential for the Top Gear test track and I hope they let us make the most of it.

I guess there would be a free roam if we set up a track day at the Top Gear Test Track!

Figure 8...wild events...Damage model...hmmm...

Destruction Derby? ;)

Seriously now, a free roam mode would be great!
