*Speculation corner*

Seeing that the cars in the trailer racing on the strangely bland La Sarthe circuit are some glories from the '60s, and that at Gamescom, La Sarthe circuit (chicaned version) had a "2009" tag in its name, doesn't anybody think that the unchicaned, faster version (used in the '60s) might also have an older scenery, with less "developed" surroundings?

After looking at the Gamescon videos, I'm beginning to think that is Monza. That bridge could be the old banking.

correct, without a doubt the old banking at monza.

google maps: 45.624884, 9.289445

this is the old lemans, without the chicanes

What's the green stuff on top of it though?
There's something wrong, I don't remember grass on the banked bridge at Monza.

Almost certain it's Monza, but the grass on the old oval doesn't appear in any google map images of that section.

If they used properly the '60s layout, this is the difference between that and the 2009 layout:

I wonder if it's a design bug (since it's on top of the bridge we're normally not supposed to see that) of if this means that the oval section has been "reconstructed" for GT5, meaning that we will be able to race on it.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. There's like no scenery at all in some of those shots... Can anyone even pinpoint the locations on the track they'd be at, whether it's part of an old section or new section?

Also, perhaps the full 60s Monza course is playable in the game and that's while the bridge looks a bit different, including a darker paved road and new grass. I don't think that's too much of a stretch if the old Le Mans is in. I've always wanted to drive the full old Monza course.

This would be amazing! As we know, GT4 did the whole "evolution of a circuit over decades" thing with Fuji in GT4. I liked the idea, but in my opinion they should have used a track with much more history. Sarthe would certainly be it!

If that's the case, they should also do the same for Monza (oval/unchicaned road course from the '50s-'60s), Spa (longer '60s version if it gets included), more Fuji Speedway (the old '60s version with the banked section). If some other historic tracks (or currently used tracks with historic layouts) get included there's possibility for a historic F1 championship. I would want to see that!

But unfortunately, that's just speculation for now. We aren't even sure if the unchicaned La Sarthe is the old version from the '60s.

I'm afraid La Sarthe will not have the full '60s layout because this chicane on the trailer looks more like the green than the violet section in this image, which was the only chicane in the old '60s layout:

He's correct, the track you guys viewed from the vid gives an illusion. Therefore thinking of the chicane as a straight path/track.

;)

Just noticed on the "Special Events" menu, on the GT Rally it mentions: "take on the SS (Special Stage)." Sounds like this is a special Rally stage designed to teach you rally techniques. However, it seems like a LONG stage. As the player is on Level 15. :P

SS in rally terms is a circuit. Probably just that. I would assume the level relates to how far through the course or series of challenges you have advanced.

right. an SS is usually a Crossover track. But a track has to be substantial to support 15 levels. I mean a 1 or 2 mile track wouldn't really be enough to support that many levels. I would assume that it's over 4 miles at least and very windy.

Why are there no trees or other scenery then? Strange to say the least...

The first of the screenshots looks like Grand Valley. I don't remember a lake at Trial Mountain. Could also be a redesign.

Yeah, I thought the same. That corner looks like the last corner before the fast chicane at the end of the lap, and there definitely wasn't a lake there before. Looks pretty cool though.

The scary part is: there's no guardrails around those sweepers with the lake and the cliff on the outside. Maybe if you forget to brake you'll wind up in the drink.

I think it is the pit lane as GT5P has heaps of tents over there. Also the track isn't as wide on the map like all the other pit lanes on other track maps.

The only sealed track in GT4 that didn't have a pit was Suzuka East. If you want to race an enduro online I think that a track needs a pit.

100% monza, i live 40minutes from the track and i've been there several times, it's the "tunnel" just before variante della roggia.--> the second chicane. The other road is the old track, the oval ( you can go in it when you want, no controls :) )

It is that corner, and there's always been a lake there. In GT2/3, if you broke out of the track, you could go visit the boats on it.

I just watched a GT4 replay, and I can't believe I never noticed this lake until now, it's as obvious and in plain site as the sky, I guess I was always focused on the road.

Well, to be fair it didn't look much like water in previous games but the light reflections gave it away.
